  1. Its a scare attraction based on a mine. Half of it is a walk through with actors as Benin said and then the other half is a mine cart ride through "Hobs Pit" I hate the closing policy as well but usually you would have got all the rides in that you want to do anyway (with a high chance of re-rides as well), it only really affects queues for Enigma and Hobs Pit as they are the attractions that get the longest queues. Hobs Pit - half walk-through and half mine cart ride that uses the track from the dark ride that was there before Hobs Pit. The exterior looks quite good with the look of a rickety mine, and its the only ride on the park that has it's own dedicated shop. I personally wouldn't call it scary but with a 12A age restriction and a 1.5M height restriction its certainly not a ride for families with young children, there were points in the queue line when an actor came out and him alone scared away people my age (15). My experience of it was more jumpy than continuously scary, but of course this has the chance to change with there being actors.
  2. Fantastic day here yesterday! The Marble Madness track is all repainted in bright orange with only the base and lower part of the lift hill built though. To be fair to them they are a smaller park so I didn't expect this to be ready for the first half of the season. Aside from that Snake in the Grass has been reverted back to Rattlesnake with a new train. Hobs Pit was brilliant and would certainly fit in at a major park but long queueing times. A brilliant and my favourite smaller park but one thing that is very different to a lot of other parks is that the park closing time is the closing time for the ride regardless, where as in parks like Thorpe if you are in the queue you will still get your ride. If you are in the queue at park closing time you will be turned away and not get your ride. Apart from that a great park that I'd definitely recommend to those passing by the area
  3. A little update: The Log Flume's second drop (the smallest one) has been completely demolished. New flume track pieces are on site and some have been replaced in the existing trough A small-ish support like structure has been put up. Aside from the flume, on my visit earlier this week Family Star stalled because of high winds and was closed for the rest of the day (shows how badly designed it is). The Scenic Railway is nearly fully repainted and 3 trains have been repainted as well (Orange, Red and Yellow.)
  4. A very good day overall today, quite a lot of long queues and reliability issues though. Slammer was testing frequently throughout the day at normal full speed which was nice to see. Stealth got evacuated and I got fastrack for any large coaster; it appeared that one of Stealth's trains failed to enter the off-load but I don't have accurate details of it. Also Rumba was drained at one point too but not a clue why. Was very impressed with the operation of The Swarm today and the staff interaction on the Flying Fish. Saw x2 Colossus x2 (One front row) The Swarm x1 (Front row) Inferno x1 Rumba x1 Tidal Wave x1 Storm Surge x1 Loggers x1 X x1 Quantum x2 Storm in a Teacup x1 Rocky Express x1 Very good ride count despite the queues and a solid 8/10 for the day. Could only have been better if a miracle happened and Slammer opened
  5. Merlin are now planning on opening a new Dungeons attraction in San Francisco and it will feature a scene about Alcatraz! http://www.marketwatch.com/story/merlin-entertainments-group-opening-north-americas-first-ever-dungeon-attraction-in-san-francisco-in-summer-2014-2014-03-25?d=nbkt
  6. A game of the ride has been released and available for downloading, it looks like the same sort of game as the Smiler one from last season Source: Theme Park Incorporated's Facebook Page (A link is there as well)
  7. I think you're right, its a bit of a strange thing to not include the weekend... Unless its just a typing error
  8. I think you may be thinking of the Mini Mega from Adventure Island... Quite the loud and worrying bang as well
  9. I don't think I ever actually introduced myself when I first joined so anyone who doesn't already know I'm Cameron and live at least 90mins (train journey) from any theme park, I live in Stevenage - Hertfordshire and I'm 15 going 16 in September
  10. A 64 year old man has fallen out of the "Opa" indoor roller coaster at Mt. Olympus Theme Park in Wisconsin yesterday. "Opa" is a spinning Wild Mouse coaster in the indoor section of the park. He fell roughly 20 feet and his condition is currently unknown, hope he's alright though... http://kstp.com/article/stories/S3352493.shtml?cat=12196
  11. In addition to the new Marble Madness coaster for 2014, they are also going to add a high dive show that will be performed in July and August. That now means that there are four shows on offer at the park, it's always nice to see little additions like shows added. Also, the group performing it is called Acapulco High Divers and they have performed at Europa Park as well!
  12. It's always a shame when smaller regional parks make huge losses like this http://riderater.co.uk/2014/lightwater-valley-losses-increase-near-tenfold/ Lightwater being one of the better smaller parks as well IMO, hopefully they'll start making a profit again this season...
  13. Hmm, is it me or does there seem to be some sort of nozzle in the scorpian's stinger? If it is then maybe that's where the water would come from...
  14. The train has arrived back on site according to Theme Park Guide's Facebook page
  15. Reminds me a bit of a combination of Rush and Super Booster that used to be at Brighton Pier
  16. Is it a Jump and Smile from Brean Leisure Park?
  17. The shade of blue and the thing that they attach the cable to gave it away for the Skydrop one
  18. Is it a Skydrop, either from Gt Yarmouth Pleasure Beach or Adventure Island?
  19. I thought the same about the errors as well but if it confirms the effects from a manager then it must a be a bit reliable surely? But as you say, I can't see them lasting very long either...
  20. Well, some of my faith in the Scorpion Express has been restored. The ride is apparently on schedule for its March opening and is supposed to feature fire effects according to this report. http://www.themeparkguide.biz/news-page/15th-february-2014-chessington-half-term-report
  21. http://www.themeparktourist.com/news/20140204/16083/alton-towers-remove-submission-could-ripsaw-be-next So with Submission's gone the above article from Theme Park Tourist says about the future of some other flat rides, Spinball and The Flume at Alton Towers. Hopefully the others don't get removed as soon as it says, or at all to be honest.
  22. I admit that the Waltzer cars didn't spin that great as well but seeming that Evolution was pretty much in the middle of the park, why would they need to get rid? Then again I don't think I've ever seen it with a full load of people on it, it wasn't exactly a massively popular ride. Makes me wonder what'll take it's place, or if they'll actually use the space for the casino which I can't see happening because it's a family park and they shouldn't be allowed to put a gambling facility in amongst a place with kids in it. We'll just have to wait and see
  23. I might be going to Great Yarmouth in February half term so if I go then I'll take a look for the refurb. That seems like a bit of a stupid move, they're removing their only major flat ride and a decent classic. No one really rode the slides and train so I can see why they'd get rid of them. Is this confirmed though or just a rumour?

    Doctor Who

Maybe his acting will make up for it

    Doctor Who

The first official image (real not concept) of Peter Capaldi in what will be his Twelfth Doctor costume. I quite like it, it just seems to work with Capaldi's more serious looking character. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/doctor-who/10599910/First-image-of-Peter-Capaldis-Doctor-Who-costume.html
