  1. Taking a train off early means engineers can start on it's checks early so they don't have to at the end of the day. It will also save the ride team a small amount of time at the end of the day.

Not defending them by any means just trying to explain there side of the story. Reducing capacity during the day is annoying and shouldn't be done.

  2. A combination of the two I think, and the fact that slow capacity + long queues = Sp££dy Pass sales.

Increasing capacity requires getting the train ready which is a process that takes a lot of time. Not only that putting them away at the end of the day takes hours. If it's expected to be quiet then they will not have as many engineers on site so will not have the capability to add more trains.

While speedy passes do seem the reason they will not generate a huge sum of money compared to not hiring engineers for more hours.

  3. Tinks is open however the pirate ship, vertigo, drenched, megafobia and bounce (apart from about 20 minutes this morning) have been closed all day.

Terrible weather as well so we left about 2:30 which is very rare for me to leave before closing.

  4. My god that is an ugly piece of track. From an engineering point of view you would not save much steel in the support structure having it as a solid piece rather than 2 pieces. However it is easier to construct both in the factory and on site.

  5. I have to agree with Tommy here. UK theme parks do make mistakes and they all could undoubtedly be better, but if it doesn't stop people visiting then the issue will be low down on Thorpe Park's agenda.

You're not going to avoid going to Thorpe Park because Colossus is on 1 train operation are you? ;)

Speak for yourself. Ill visit when they sort themselves out. If I knew before getting there that coasters were going to be on 1 train I just wouldn't go. They can have my money when they start getting things right and the issues they have are solved. Until that point they are not getting a penny.

It must be said that currently Thorpe are doing the best out of the Merlin group in my eyes and that some issues I have had with them in the past seem to have been fixed but then there are the major recurring ones. Fastrack on reduced capacity, terrible reliability...

  6. Half assed ideas are what they do best and so I am not visiting any Merlin park this year. I'm not travelling half the country to experience a half closed park and a coaster where I have to wear a clunky headset which makes a multi-million pound coaster into a jumped up simulator.

  7. The point they are all making is the fact it went live at 9:5x. Servers are highly accurate in time keeping and don't just release it early. It would have been set up to release early either by accident or on purpose. Releasing it early is not fair. However I'm sure complaints would have happened even if it went live at 10.

  8. The thing is this sale was never a sale in Merlin's eyes. It's a publicity stunt and releasing the tickets early has made the stunt even more successful. Most read story on BBC news for hours mentioning DBGT throughout the article. They couldn't have got better advertising if they tried. For once I think Thorpe have done pretty well.

Oh and the shop is looking pretty damn good.
