Atari isn't really Atari anymore. They are a different company under the same name. Frontier wanted to do it there way. They didn't want to answer to a large publisher focusing on fast turn arounds to maximise profit.
RCTW has had 3 developers so far and is shambles just like Atari.
RTC4 we do not speak about. It's best left forgotten in the world of mobile games.

I imagine the queue time was a mistake.

I'm sure there is something left to ruin. Not sure what but there must be something.

If the last train or bus left early you would be pretty annoyed. If you say something will happen at a certain time and it's in high demand you don't release it early without telling people.
-
The point they are all making is the fact it went live at 9:5x. Servers are highly accurate in time keeping and don't just release it early. It would have been set up to release early either by accident or on purpose. Releasing it early is not fair. However I'm sure complaints would have happened even if it went live at 10.

The thing is this sale was never a sale in Merlin's eyes. It's a publicity stunt and releasing the tickets early has made the stunt even more successful. Most read story on BBC news for hours mentioning DBGT throughout the article. They couldn't have got better advertising if they tried. For once I think Thorpe have done pretty well.
Oh and the shop is looking pretty damn good.

How many times do we have to say of course there's going to be massive cuts during the biggest accident in Alton Towers history. How. Many. Times.
I wasn't having a dig at Alton Towers, I was just saying why they were cut instead of other departments. I couldn't care less about some entertainers wandering round the park.
-
And for those who cant be asked to read about the alpha there is useful video summing it up.
-
It would not surprise me if those jobs were all cut, as to merlin they are a waste of money as they are not needed nor do they bring in money.
-
The smiler and Colossus both suffer a lot from temperature when it comes to speed and smoothness. Ride the smiler again when its warmer and I'm sure it will be more enjoyable.

Well it clearly wasn't a last minute choice where engineers came in one day and decided to turn them around. Thorpe could have at least removed a fence, I know merlin were trying to put up as many fences as possible this year but taking down some cant have been too hard. Not removing it from the queue time board is an amazingly simple job and would have consisted of changing a single setting. How can a park not get something so simple right.
-
They use points in the queue line to work out the time. However at the beginning of the season the rides are not getting the throughput for the points to be correct. As they staff become more experienced they will become more accurate.

Or perhaps the world's first ride designed by (insert itv/channel 4 celebrity here)

A dark ride started out with an idea with potential to make a lot of money. A high investment log flume in the UK where rain is the main weather is just a bad idea from the start.Talking about Merlin and sense in the same sentence is slightly ironic given what's opening in a few weeks at Thorpe.
-
A decent multi launch hugging the ground a bit like maverick would make for an amazing ride and one that would benefit Alton's line up greatly. However I doubt this ride will be that. I feel this is going to be a family friendly world's first gimmick. I don't think SW8 will be a flume replacement. I feel Merlin have enough sense to know a high investment long flume would not bring a very big return.
-
Yeah because sw1 2 and 3 were all record breakers.

"I want to make another cheap dig at Thorpe, so will complain about something which I wouldn't normally complain about".
I was actually asking to know what the answer was or am I not allowed to be curious and ask questions any more. At no point was I going to complain about something which I think is a good idea. I don't just complain at merlin for the sake of it contrary to your belief.
-
I'm not sure if your being serious but if anything the loss of the more expensive fastrack sales etc will if anything lose them a bit of money.
It seems an odd move to remove something which seemed to be making them money. My only assumption was that it must make maintenance easier/cheaper or able to remove staff members.

If you honestly believe that a ride which is actor heavy and using experimental VR will still be a great attraction as it is in its opening year then you are far more trusting in Merlin than you should be.
I have faith that this will be a good attraction when it opens. I have very little faith it will stay that way.

It doesn't matter how good the ride is. It's using actors so in a few years time it will be an incomplete experience. Merlin are incapable of learning as they have proven time and time again.
I hope simworxs have an amazing ride system as that is the only thing that will keep this attraction around for more than 5 years.

Half assed ideas are what they do best and so I am not visiting any Merlin park this year. I'm not travelling half the country to experience a half closed park and a coaster where I have to wear a clunky headset which makes a multi-million pound coaster into a jumped up simulator.
