  1. Ill just sit back and watch the fastrack complaints come rolling in.
  2. The queues are not too bad. Stealth is under an hour and nothing is in the hundreds. Maybe capacity has been reduced a bit.
  3. I never said that merlin wasnt the better business. I stated that merlin is a monopoly in the market. BPB will overtime gain more popularity if guest satisfaction is good which will lead to bigger budgets and finally end up in them being able to advertise on the scale merlin does which would allow them to compete. Merlin doesnt need to worry if guest satisfaction isnt that great as they have the budgets to spend on advertising to draw people back. Focusing on guest satisfaction would reduce the need for massive advertisment budgets but they dont seem to have worked that out yet. If they employed more staff then they would be a much better park. Clearly this year the engineers have been a little under staffed hence the 1 train op in the mornings and inturn this has lead to what seems to be an increase in breakdowns. Its not been a harsh year weather wise, so to have so many rides breaking down as often as they have done this year is quite poor. Yes the rides are fairly old but thats the case at a lot of parks and not many of those have had the sort of breakdowns thorpe have been having.
  4. Stupid auto correct and its complete lack of knowledge of apostrophes. *wouldn't be as painful
  5. I think one soloution to their problem is just hire a few more people. The coasters need batchers for the bays so a train doesnt have empty seats, the people at the front who sell fastracks should be checking peoples hight and guiding people to the right place as well as making sure the queue times are updated. That way their job could be more permant and the queueline shops should really have people in them at peak rather than closed for most the day and open for 2 hours when the queue isnt even near it. That way guests are happier, the rides hit a better capacity and people dont waste time queueing for a ride they cant go on. The staff being kind and looking like they care is some pretty basic things they aren't doing which is resulting in people directing their anger at other things like fastrack. Yes fastrack is bad but it wouldn't be as painful if seats stoppped going round empty, the staff were happy and the queues had some form of entertainment.
  6. Paramount Park will take away customers and they will take away even more if people remember experiences like the ones people have had over the last few weekends which they will. Not many people forget something like that. So you've wasted 30 minutes queuing at guest services, all that time you are surrounded by people with a similar mind set. You are wasting even more time trying to talk to someone. They will be there to try and get there money back. If they are explained that refunds cant happen then they either have to settle for the next best thing or walk out;. Walking out will have tiny effect on the park so wont impact them. The only person who would have an impact if they walked out was if that person had a way of spreading their opinion to the masses. Like a journalist or something along those lines. Another point you raised that people complain for the passes is another fault of Thorpe. People know that they are going to get something for nothing so they are going to play the system. If Thorpe didn't give them out so much less people would do it.
  7. They would have just waited 30 minutes to complain, after being annoyed enough to go and complain. At that point I think anyone would find it hard to take the moral high ground.
  8. I guess they accept them because they think that its the only thing they can do. In a way it sort of is the only thing they can do.
  9. Its the fastest way that the people at guest services can deal with them. Terrible system but can result in being beneficial if your complaint is not about fastrack and is about something else.
  10. I hope you mentioned that one of the reasons in declining numbers of people to Brighton is down to the green party and their £10 an hour parking. The reason I said paramount being the only ones who can take them on is because they are the only company with the level of investment which can take on the vast relative amount merlin spend. Providing that it goes ahead of course.
  11. I thought that was the case but reading that tweet it says otherwise. Cut your wait by 1/3rd makes it seem as it will reduce your wait by 20 minutes instead of making it 20 minutes. If they think RnR can fix this then they are wrong, all it will do is hide the problems to the public. Thats why they think it works.
  12. Wait does it mean cut it by a 1/3rd or make it 1/3rd of the main queue? Because at the moment what it is saying is that if the fastrack queue was 40 minutes the main queue would be an hour.
  13. They are beating the might of merlin on guest satisfaction. which in turn will lead to BPB being better at business. Unfortunately the monopoly of merlin is preventing any competitor from taking them on because of their sheer size. The only company that is close to being able to take on the money squeezing people of merlin seems to be paramount.
  14. I knew it was high but I thought their old complicated system was still in use which worked out to be 25%. 33% is stupid and insulting to anyone who paid to get in.
  15. so 1/3rd of the train is going towards fastrack which quite frankly is disgusting. Anyone has a right to say that it is overselling. It shouldn't exceed 10% let alone 25%. To moan at a 45 minute wait for a fastrack queue is perfectly acceptable but if that is 1/3rd of the queue then that main queue must have been horrific. Sell less of fastrack, introduce queueline entertainment like tvs with games, music ect. and then someone may have a positive experience at the park rather than they waited 90 minutes for every ride and paid £45 to do so.
  16. Quite busy, not like the last few saturdays but anywhere from 40-90minutes for coasters. Last weekend of the season may have some odd effects on the turn out.
  17. No more RnR tests for the rest of the season. Unless they change their mind and announce more.
  18. I dont think they will ever test it how it is meant to be used before they impliment it fully. Another one of the many reasons in why this system wont work.
  19. I would agree that the failure of the swarm was not the swarms fault. It had some contribution but the olympics and weather I think get most of the credit. Personally I dont think there is a demand for a dark ride in the UK. If people want a dark ride, they will go to universal of disney where the budgets match what is required. Also this entire dark ride thing has only come into creation at the earliest time of the end of 2012. Up until then a coaster was planned. Also if it is going to be an IP that reduces the time frame even more and will take a large section of the budget. Look at nemesis sub terra, one of merlins only dark rides and some park benches are more thrilling than that. The idea of a massive dark ride for £30m containing an expensive IP and including the cost of the movement of what is already there. Also adjust for inflation we are only looking at a budget which is slightly larger than the swarms to build something which should be in the realm of $100m.
  20. Are we not already discussing that statement? Personally I dont think that the entire area will become a dark ride. Thorpe are pushed for space and I really dont think they will be wanting to turn that entire area into a massive box containing a ride. It would mean the movement or destruction of some of the very little family rides they have. In my opinion I dont think it would be a wise move to convert that entire area into a dark ride. Also I dont think merlin would be able to pull it off. If history tells merlin anything people dont care for themeing. There least successful investment (sawrm) was the most themed, and their most successful investment (saw) was a dead IP closly followed by their other half themed ride of the smiler. Based on those rides we could see a building made of shipping containers with some yellow pipes stuck on the side with a tv show theme from the 70's. A dark ride is risky and I dont think it will be a success.
  21. GIGA COASTER! The swarm island can be used, its settled enough now to be built on. Despite a airtime machine would be great, and would attract the audience they want as it would have no inversions, it seems that they are tending towards a form of immersive ride. I hope that they don't opt for a dark ride using 3D screens everywhere. What is wrong with the old fashioned world of physical stuff.
  22. I didnt know oblivion could work with 2 shuttles. I always assumed 4 was its minimum to make sure the computer was happy with trains being in blocks.
  23. Yes the MTDP probably has changed but to register something under reserved matters requires it to be stated on the approved MTDP.
  24. These rumours started back in august from 1 lead engineer. I think it got a bit out of hand seeing as screamscape and south parks have done a very similar news report thing on it. The credibility of the statement is questionable also the fact no planning permission has been submitted, as its not on the MTDP I dont think they can submit it under reserved matters so to start ground work now before they have even submitted planning permission is a bit odd.
  25. Charmaine Matthews How to beat the system for reserve n ride for a group of you.....Each person can register and then each person reserves a different maze (as you can only reserve one maze at a time)...plan it carefully between you all in your group and can get all the mazes done...We did! fab night! Like · Reply · 2 · Yesterday at 00:43 THORPE PARK Official Thank you for the feedback Charmaine, thrilled to hear it worked for you! Like · Yesterday at 11:59 That is from the post about RnR in the comments. To me it seems that they approve of the idea as they didn't condemn it in anyway and instead thanked them.
