  1. What sense does anything in the storyline actually make? Not much from what I saw on Tuesday...
  2. Apparently they were only showing one of the two VR options for the second half during technical rehearsals
  3. If any of that VR was live action filming, colour me surprised. The whole thing looks cartoony and like it's been animated. Maybe the people were filmed using motion capture for the movement, but the actual image looks computer generated, even in the first half
  4. The Guardian link just says 'latest reports', so the writer could be referencing the standard article or even just a punter confused between technical rehearsals and opening. The Standard quotes it as a fact, but it can't be true. Nothing on Thorpe's Twitter or Facebook apart from just telling people its open for technical rehearsals. Press night is the 21st and I didn't see opening being before that when I rode the ride on Tuesday, still had its fair share of glitches
  5. Not sure stand up trains would work with the five barrel rolls at the end? I think they're too tight
  6. Disney can't use their rights to Marvel further east of a certain state (can't remember which one exactly) due to the pre existing contract between Marvel and Universal at Islands of Adventure, and this covers all of their Orlando parks. So there will never be Guardians if the Galaxy at Epcot
  7. From what I've heard the only groundbreaking part of it was that the vehicles are so large to have multiple of them in the same building, and that Simworx are such a small company to have done it. Either way, the system may be massively complicated and I don't know about it, but then neither will the average punter visiting and in my opinion there is no point prioritising a complicated ride system over guest experience
  8. I'm gonna throw in another curveball and say I really didn't enjoy this ride. I don't understand where all the space went, where all the money went (other than the headsets), or how it's supposedly groundbreaking I get that it's a combination of things that haven't come together before, but none of them are particularly special
  9. This will definitely happen, dont you worry about that!
  10. I dont know about preferring it, but I definitely found it easier than the one one too
  11. Hi everyone! The poll is now closed and by a large lead the date chosen is Saturday the 24th September. Hope to see lots of you there!
  12. The meet will almost definitely be a weekend in September, due to having to avoid dates of Fright Nights, etc. Currently in talks with the park about the best possible day
  13. @Ian-S, I know the ones on Smiler are done every closed season (or this was the case before the crash, it may have been raised since then) and I would assume the other coasters are the same
  14. (Slightly off topic here) My one piece of advice then, dont let it stop you doing anything. I used to have a real issue going on Saw but one day I grabbed a friend, told them to force me through no matter what I said, nearly dislocated their fingers with how tight I as holding their hand but ultimately I decided that the ride is worth it. Even if you only go on each ride once, even if you have to hug someone all the way round, try everything otherwise you'll kick yourself
  15. @ChessingtonSam, welcome to my world. With a phobia of mannequins trips to theme parks become an emotional rollercoaster
  16. Thorpe Park are offering us tickets to the park for this day for any members without an annual pass, for £25 (£3 cheaper than if you were to book them online). Would anyone be requiring a ticket? As we will need to let them know quite far in advance once the date has been set
  17. BWP was definitely a lot better last year than it had been the year before, and it seemed a lot longer. As for parts of the train tracks that could be used, there's always that section by Samurai where the cherry picker gets parked maybe? In regards to the actors I believe there was an incident a few years ago which means the roaming actors now have to be kept in one group and accompanied by a member of TP staff in uniform at all times. Unfortunately due to them always going round in a group there's a lot less park coverage, though often I've noticed groups of people who are there to visit the park who dress up in sometimes brilliant costumes and almost do as good a job as the TP official actors... Sometimes it's difficult to tell if they're real actors or not.
  18. Have been thinking about this one and have managed to narrow it down to two (I'm indecisive k). Firstly, the Smiler's theme will always hold a special place in my heart as I love the theme of the ride so much and feel like it fits so well. The second one (if anyone's noticed it this season) is the music that's been playing on Spinball Whizzer this year, it's so happy and maybe it's a hangover from my gaming days but it's so retro and just kinda awesome
  19. They aren't random numbers though, are they? Experiment 10 opened in the 10th Fright Nights, Studio 13 opened in the 13th, I believe Seven opened on the 7th... Also, there are other parts of the old train line that aren't he part with BWP on it
  20. The retracking was done in a few phases through 2013, with the first part being completed around May/June*, so it depends when you went *source, I googled it and found a thread from TS about it
  21. Parts of it have been re-done recently, and the trains have been re-worked too. Went on it for the first time on Friday and it was quite good, rattly but still not as rough as Colossus...
  22. TREETOPS. Please 'like' this post if you are interested in doing the Treetops high ropes course during Saturday day, so you can all see who's interested so who to chat to to organise it I will not be attending this one
  23. WATERPARK. Please 'like' this post if you're interested in doing the water park on Sunday during the day (depending on ticket availability). Adding my vote to this one too
