It's not that We aren't trusting, it's more the the fact we aren't stupid either. Without any sort of proof at all we can't take anything as fact, if it's true good on you, I'm sure the resort will be really happy with you spreading secret information - but for now everything that's said without proof is mere speculation.

Once again, there's a difference to mindlessly supporting a company and supporting a development. Personally I find some of Merlin's practises tragic, such as the entirety of Chessington, baby proofing towers and Galactica. However I haven't got the time of day to sit here moaning about it (with the exception of Chessington), I just try to move on and hope what they do next will be to my taste - which Ghost Train is, I'm unsure wether it will live up to expectations (very high ones at that) but I'm not going to jump the gun and say they aren't trying already - it's not like Merlin are the only company who have issues after all.

Sorry if I'm being a little untrusting, but I'm still unsure why this ticketing thing is true? If it is then respect to the person who said it, but surely it doesn't just take someone saying "I can 100% that X is happening" for people to believe it, not to mention it seems awfully strange they would print out thousands of tickets for the original opening date when they evidentially knew it wasn't ready...
-
The only form of timed ticket the resort have confirmed is for wheel chair users, as I assume they may need to change some aspects to allow for the ride to be suitable for these people. Other than that there has been nothing remotely hinting that they will be using a ticketing service - it's a dark ride not a scare maze...

So you are comparing a minor refurb (indeed it is terrible however I am talking about Ghost Train and Ghost Train alone as this quote is taken out of context) to a new multi million pound attraction? Seems fair.
-
Like I say I am prepared for this outcome as it could be a reason, but it also could not. So I am not assuming things I don't have sufficient information to back myself up with. If others do, fine, but once again - innocent until proven guilty.
-
The ironic thing is, you say that 'rumours' is like clutching at straws yet you are spreading rumours yourself, in fact using one of the only companies widely known. In regards to you saying that expectations are low, I think you'll find that you are completely and utterly false. There is a difference between defending something until it's proven guilty and defending it for the sake of it, I am not sure why the attraction is delayed - so I am going to be mature and accept it could be for any number of reasons, not blindly go around accusing people of something I have little to no knowledge about. If something of a notable source comes forward and proves the delay is all to do with Merlin then I will happily say they should have tried harder. Although what I don't get is why Merlin are the only company people have an issue with, even when attractions such as Disney haven't delivered an attraction on time in years, with their most recent being cancelled because they couldn't be bothered to fix it...
-
Well I respect Merlin for 'ploughing on', they try to revolutionise the industry for your enjoyment - if you have an issue with that then don't go to these places. At least they haven't backed out at the last minute because something isn't working properly *cough*rivers of light*cough*. The truth of the matter is no one knows what wrong with it, there have been rumours that HTC have messed up, Figment Productions have messed up all the way down to Scruffy Dog having theming issues. Any one of these issues could be true - but no one will know which one or who to blame.
-
Although it's irritating, I too feel a bit gutted for Thorpe as they are evidentially excited to show this attraction off - for money focused reasoning or not. I'm sure Merlin didn't think "oh you know what'd be funny, we say Ghost Train will open on this date, and then not open it! The loss of money will be worth it!". I'm sure they weren't expecting the ride to have issues, and so there's no point pointing a finger at anyone because it could be delayed for any number of reasons, however in no way have they purposely created this problem for themselves.
-
Although not 100% confirmed, there has been talk that staff members are now being able to try Ghost Train after park close, meaning opening could be this weekend.

SouthParks have posted a video showcasing the various steps in creating the advert for Derren Brown's Ghost Train on their Facebook page. It also includes a slightly differing version of the advert, including a new scene toward the end of the advert that may hint to some of the movement that riders may experience within the ride.
-
It's really becoming quite irritating how sour people are being about the ride not opening on time, it's funny at first but honestly it's becoming painful to read this thread because of how many silly comments there are.
-
The resort have stopped advertising full stop, not just with Ghost Train. While I see your point the resort has begun posting on social media channels again, and with the photo frames I'd like to hope the ride will be opening soon-ish. Then again, I'm not really expecting anything in the next few days...
-
Evidentially the pillar makes for a good coffee table! Haha
-
Goodness it's painful to read through this topic sometimes... Back onto topic, one thing to note is how quiet Thorpe Park's social media has been since the announcement. I hope that this isn't to do with being harassed in the comments about the ride as that's really quite unnecessary if they feel the need to stop posting to avoid this. It also makes me think there may be an increase of activity around the time a revised opening date could be announced?
-
I'm not going to judge when it'll be ready as the truth of the matter is we just don't know! I say a week or so as the park have only said it won't open this week (meaning until June1st). At this point it's just a waiting game - however if it means the attraction is fantastic it is a game I am willing to participate in.
-
At the end of the day all we know is the ride isn't quite there yet. Personally I'd expect it would have been a joint decision between Derren and management, as Derren will know exactly what he expecting things to look like and be able to advise management of it is correct or not. Management would have made the final decision and I'm glad they are taking advice and making the attraction the best it can be.
-
The thing is, Galactica is an 'okay' experience that cost a fraction of the price - Alton have done the exact opposite and just opened the ride even when half the headsets aren't working and the other half out of sync. Ghost Train is pegged to be an amazing ride, something I would personally like to experience when they have perfected it. It is annoying, however it cant be far off now - hopefully it will be over half term. We will have to wait and see!
-
True, but when European parks give out the opening year and don't meet it you have to feel that they aren't doing too bad only being a month or so behind I feel sorry for poor Thorpe. They can't keep people happy either way, so I hope the rest of the way it's smooth sailing!
-
I know right! It's not like anywhere else does this sort of thing!!! You wouldn't find this sort of behaviour with Chiapas at Phantasialand or The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Disney World! Goodness Merlin how dare you be the only company to open rides late...
-
Am I the only one who's kind of relieved? Its understandably annoying however at the same time I'm glad they're taking time with it. On the other hand, they should have left it as coming soon. Ah well, I guess we will just have to wait a week or so extra.

The queue time sign has been updated, granted only minimally but an update is an update. "DEPARTS IN Unavailable" has been changed to "DEPARTS IN UNAVAILABLE". Thank god, it was driving me nuts that "navailable" wasn't in capitals haha!
-
Staff training has been taking place so I'd expect it to be that
-
I don't think it sounds bad. As long as it avoids the supposed 'political' side it could make plenty of sense. Once again, I'm going to wait until I've ridden the attraction before passing judgement.

The fact that the Thorpe park website mentioned 'per train' was confirmation of more than one train originally I believe
