My first was Nemesis Inferno. I really wish they named it something else because to me, it will always be the inferior version of my favourite ride of all time.
-
On most days and without any issues, looks like it opens at 10. Doesnt look like it's intentionally being opened later than this.
-
I've heard rumours that they are having to get one-off parts manufactured for it. I guess with it being the only ride of its type in the world, spare parts are not very easy to get hold of.
-
Fair enough, I'm more interested in how Thorpe deals with stuff like this. How did they get into the Stealth console? Clearly showed the ride was on and in manual mode. They could have done anything to it.
-
It's a maybe from me until dates are confirmed as 27th or 28th. Not too fussed, also not great timing for me having meets the week before pay day.

Just seen the images they posted on Instagram http://www.themeparkguide.biz/news/news-thorpe-park/police-called-after-youths-climb-stealth-Colossus

TPM Heads oop North Saturday 17th-Sunday 18th June 2017

Me and Mer would be able to go and stay at the Travelodge together if we can get a lift. Just dependant on transport really, as Towers is not the most accessible by public transport. If we can't kindly ask for a lift from anyone, we would have to stay on site. So for now it's a maybe for us until we can confirm transport / hotels.- 34 replies

I've heard Stealth is fixed and operational again today.
-
Could be staff, engineering, maintenance, budget, unexpected visitor numbers, etc. Don't really want to get into every reason why every ride doesn't run perfectly every day of the week.
-
Actually this reminded me that Towers do change the capacity during the day too. Galactica (/ Air) is unusual in that they would open the ride with both trains in the station but one side would be shut. As the switch over tracks are part of the ride, all they had to do to increase capacity later in the day was to just open the other platform.
-
I'm a little surprised actually that new ride hosts don't fully understand how ride dispatch systems work. Even during a behind the scenes last year, the engineers explained to us how it is impossible for the train restraints to release by themselves until the cars make contact with the power rails in the station again. Rides have so many censors in a safety circuit that the computer will not allow the operator to dispatch a ride if any single one is not triggered. All the restraints have to light up as being energised and every ride host has to be holding the momentary push buttons on each corner of the station before the computer even lets the train move. (Unless an engineer has the ride in full manual mode)

As Marc said, it's up to the park to manage ride capacity. It can be frustrating but it doesn't concern me as much as rides closing / not opening. Thats when I'd criticise them. When multiple main attractions remain closed, I'd consider that an operational failure. I don't really care to know the reasons why Thorpe add trains on during the day. Could be a number of things we can speculate about. If they decide to increase capacity, I'm not going to complain about it.

Ah Boaty McBoatface. I guess the fences were probably painted with whatever bulk-buy paint was the cheapest on offer at B&Q. Just glue some shells on some drainpipes, throw some pebbles on the pavement, hang up some rope netting around Old Town, and the theming is done! I mean they haven't even bothered to jet wash the dirt off it, never mind trying to theme it properly.

I got the impression on my first visit that they had a shortage of engineers considering how poor ride availability was on the preview weekend after having a full closed season for maintenence. There are still adverts on Facebook for jobs which you think would have been filled by the start of the season. I think that staff retention must be very poor this year. If this is going to start becomming 'normal' operations, then I'm concerned about Thorpe this season. I'd be happy if they just got rid of fastrack, it just causes more problems than it's worth. If the park is going to run dysfunctionally then the people who have paid a premium to stand in long Fastrack queues on the few rides that are working are going to be the first to complain and demand refunds. But if you give fastrack priority, people who have queued 180mins are going to kick off because they're not being let on the ride. If there is poor retention of staff, then management need to start treating employees better or be replaced with people who do know how to run a theme park.

This is a well established park that has many years of experience. It is not acceptable that admissions were taken today for such a poor operation. In my opinion, the blame lies squarely on the management as they are the ones overseeing the operations of the park and making the decisions. If multiple rides were not signed off, it's down to management to find out why and sort it out. If staff didn't turn up, management should have been chasing them up and have part time / reserve staff at the ready. Also it's their job to find out why people didn't turn up and prevent it from happening again. Management are fully responsible for having such a weak contingency plan and opening a park full of closed rollercoasters and attractions. Even if this has happened before, it doesn't make it any more acceptable. If management are not responsible for park operations, I have serious concerns about the way Thorpe is being run.
-
Sounds like they are having a crisis today. No rides ready, not enough staff. This is basic theme park operations that have completely failed, no back up plan apart from closing the gates. What is the management playing at this year?

Has anyone downloaded this? https://appsto.re/gb/022h8.I Theres no micro transactions, it is literally the full pc game with the expansion packs on your phone. It kind of blows my mind that they even managed to do this! Even let's you ride everything in first person. Well worth buying! One tip - if the menus become unresponsive, turning off 3D Touch fixes it.

When people think they're being a smart arse by narrating what's about to happen on the ride. People who heckle / won't shut up during pre-shows. People who cause a ride to E-stop. Also when a parent forces a child onto a ride they don't want to do and they scream and cry the whole time, ruining the ride you've just waited an hour to get on. Parents using X like a crèche. (Sat around outside with pushchairs while the kids run riot) People who are watching the Smiler that know nothing about block sections or how rollercoasters work who say things aloud like: "There's more than one train on the track, you think they would stop doing that!", "There's three trains going around! what are they thinking?" etc. - (It surprised me how frequently this happened) Enthusiasts who constatnly hate on Merlin for everything, even on the good things they're doing critising imporvements etc. (The Towers Street forum is terrible at doing this). If you don't like anything Merlin does, stop going to their parks! People who think the Hex madhouse goes upside down. I don't know why to be honest, got no bother with people not knowing, I just get annoyed. People who call Nemesis Inferno just 'Nemesis'. Only Inferno or Nemesis Inferno are acceptable. Unfortunately sharing the same name as my favourite ride, I will only ever see Inferno as the inferior ride. Possibly the worst are people who say Inferno is better than Nemesis. People who think the burnt tree stumps on Rumba Rapids looks great (Ok, I made that one up! ) As a twist, something that makes me smile is watching people queuing for more than half an hour to buy Fast-tracks!

I will try and get a slo-mo shot of the car jolting on the first drop next time I go. To try and prove my point
-
Try downloading it and open it with Windows Media player. It should work.

I only ride it really for the indoor part which is fun. The rest is just minimising all the vibrations and trying to enjoy the inversions. It's just annoying the newer Eurofighters are much better than this now.
