  1. Different kind of heat isn't it? We just get humid heat, theirs is drier and therefore don't make you feel like ****.
  2. Ah, see that's definitely not getting added to the collection.
  3. In reply to Mark9 - Guest Services and hotel have changed their system of dealing with complaints at towers. Although they still give fastrack, they're actually linked up to the fastrack system now and take out from the daily quota, they also have to provide a reason for issuing the ticket which is printed on said fastrack. Amusing how many actually say "Come from thorpe".

    The Smiler

It's the first incredibly cool day we've had in over a week. So temperature could well be a big influence.

It was meant to be open late afternoon, obviously missed that time. Therefore I imagine it'll be open tomorrow.
  6. Flipper, that's just complete niavety. Complain about fastrack when it's being oversold and poorly run, and the more complaints then something will be done about it. It's awful having people selling at the ride entrances, regardless of what park, because of what it does to the main queue. It's a **** system, particularly if they do as pluk says (and I fully believe that having seen it myself there). As for staff attitude, well then thorpe should treat their staff better. That's the way to affect KPI scores and make everyone happy. You can't just say that's how it's gonna be.
  7. Go from tomorrow for 2 weeks. Gonna be quuiiiieeetttt (compared to the past month anyway!)
  8. There'll be a million schools tomorrow. The busiest day of all the schools weeks is tomorrow. Have fun!!
  9. Cos it's in the middle of the park, because it has dire throughput, and because it sticks out like a sore thumb that it gets the guests. It's thorpes version of Chessie's Tiny Truckers, or Towers' Spinball.
  10. 16 weeks til Rameses reopens? That's brilliant. The park closes in 15 weeks for the winter. Think someones having you on.
  11. Balls off, it's one day hired. I'm impressed someone's even wanted to hire the park out. This really won't lead to a tirade of park hire-outs. Shame bout zoo days going though.
  12. Beanoland only appeared in 2000 didn't it? Not exactly original or classic.
  13. Mark has a new blog post up about Monsters Uni - http://mark2262.wordpress.com/2013/07/14/monsters-university/ However, I do wish you'd update your About Me please mark, you haven't worked at "oxte" in ages .
  14. They're obviously temporary shops anyway, designed to be removed as the attraction becomes less popular. Maybe this suggests that they're doing a last-ditch attempt to increase SAW's shop sales before thinking sod it, and removing it.
  15. Actually makes it tempting and worthwhile now.

I believe smiler can dispatch once the train has engaged the lift.. so as you see one going up lift one, the train in the station can be dispatched. Not 100% sure on this though. Oblivion and Mine Train both have ridiculous loading procedures now. Would be nice for someone to look and be sensible with operations. Hopefully it doesn't affect any other rides.

They have a cap of 25% of daily throughput, so I imagine smiler is right at that point due to the natural popularity of the fastrack for it. Other rides are different, in that they mainly sell non-time slotted tickets so people can all turn up at once if they want, plus chances of them selling out on most days is unlikely. However, they've got a cap of 25% of daily throughput. Most are fair bit lower though.

You're misinformed I'm afraid. It originally was set at 20 per hour, raising to 40 per hour within a couple of days. Couple of weeks later it changed to 100 every half hour timeslot. Smiler is also on platinum (unlimited - 100 people per day) and Gold (one ride, 250 per day). The most the staff have ever managed to dispatch in an hour is 67 vehicles. That's 1072 if it was full. They usually get 60 per hour.

Smilers throughputs are absolutely awful - their best they've got is just over 1000. And they sell fastrack on it, at 200 per hour. Ridiculous.
  20. Good, because noone likes queue jumpers.

It's a bloody good ride. Incredibly good ride. But it's no nemesis.
  22. Detonator is one of those rides where you have to keep at it, otherwise you just lose all confidence. Haven't been on the ride in about 6yrs now. Don't think I'll ever go on it again!
  23. Which one of those is Sheepie?

    2013 Changes

Yes they do - however airport scanners suggest people deliberately hide things to get through, and that suggests that the place has serious problems. Bag searches are far more acceptable and happen everywhere. People are accepting of these.
