  1. I believe smiler can dispatch once the train has engaged the lift.. so as you see one going up lift one, the train in the station can be dispatched. Not 100% sure on this though.

Oblivion and Mine Train both have ridiculous loading procedures now. Would be nice for someone to look and be sensible with operations. Hopefully it doesn't affect any other rides.

  2. They have a cap of 25% of daily throughput, so I imagine smiler is right at that point due to the natural popularity of the fastrack for it.

Other rides are different, in that they mainly sell non-time slotted tickets so people can all turn up at once if they want, plus chances of them selling out on most days is unlikely. However, they've got a cap of 25% of daily throughput. Most are fair bit lower though.

  3. Maximum number of dedicated fast tracks sold currently have been 40 per hour not 200.

You can also access Smiler on some of the unlimited fast passes but the sale of those is seriously limited.

Throughput is circa 1200 on an average session according to ride staff, raising to 1300 if swift dispatch.

You're misinformed I'm afraid. It originally was set at 20 per hour, raising to 40 per hour within a couple of days. Couple of weeks later it changed to 100 every half hour timeslot. Smiler is also on platinum (unlimited - 100 people per day) and Gold (one ride, 250 per day).

The most the staff have ever managed to dispatch in an hour is 67 vehicles. That's 1072 if it was full. They usually get 60 per hour.

  4. Yes they do - however airport scanners suggest people deliberately hide things to get through, and that suggests that the place has serious problems.

Bag searches are far more acceptable and happen everywhere. People are accepting of these.

  5. I think airport scanners shouldn't be the norm, they can keep their one for those they feel is suspect.

However, bag searches for all, like they do in a fair few parks abroad, is completely acceptable and if anything will help reassure and add to a family or a calmer image.

  6. For real? I tried to visit Chessington at the very end of the school holidays last year, took one look at the gate and left. It was the stuff of nightmares. Is there a 'quiet days in summer' strategy?

Yes. Hence why I said the beginning of the holidays, not the end.

As mark says - noone visits right at the beginning, everyone visits at the end as they are in the UK/realise they said they were gonna take them/bored of other things to do.

Infact it's pretty much the same of any school holiday - the parks are busier towards the end of the holidays compared to the beginning, weather permitting of course.

  7. I'd say, if you're on park before 10.. join the queue then.

Unlike any new ride opening, the ride is just not getting quieter during the day. If anything, it gets busier particularly with school trips. Then at the end of the day, the queue gets even bigger as everyone else joins it.

Essentially, there just is no best time to visit. Go as early as possible, buy fastrack, use single riders imo. Don't bother with middle of day, you'll waste your time (I joined queue just after 2, it was my last ride the other week.)
