  1. (was talking about Fury!)
  2. I don't know.. whenever I've opped it in the rain it works..
  3. The only rides which definitly close in the weather are Safari Skyway and Peeking Heights, the main reason being the ride becomes very uncomfortable. Other rides which can be effected by the weather are Tiny Truckers, Griffins Galleon, Rattlesnake, The Dodgems and Black Bucaneer.Fury actually behaves itself in the rain surprisingly.

When it originally opened it was called Dragon River, it was renamed in 1998/9
  5. Yeah I saw Katy price to. you must have got on just as I left Fury. Peeking did open at around 4:30, it was closed due to the weather as it's not very comfortable up there when it's raining and windy.
  6. Has only happened 2-3 times this year. Last year it was a daily occurrence during the holidays. Obviously with Saw at Thorpe and the new land at Legoland, Chessington is not as packed as it was in 2008.
  7. If Chessington has a certain gate figure by 1pm they always extend the opening hours by an hour.
  8. Awesome work Thorpe in getting the mist going again on Inferno. The tunnel mist in particular is such an important effect and I'm glad its been fixed. The fact that they have gone to the lengths to get the geiser mist going again near the top of the volcano fills me with hope to other effects at the park.
  9. Probably not using the extension if we use some logic.

God that Intamin throughput is exaggerated like crazy. Our target at Fury is 650 pph so I mean how that thing can get 700 is crazy.

One of the trains plays the Berry Bouncers music and another plays Tiny Trucker sound effect music. Music in the Merlin group really is like a whore.
  12. The park is currently trialling a system where Vampire, Bubbleworks, Black Bucaneer, Rattlesnake, Runaway Train, Safari Skyway, Rameses Revenge and Toytown open at 9:30. I'm not sure if this is just for hotel guests or for everyone but if successful it may stay for good. With Beanoland already opening at 9:30 for people who come through the South entrance, it means the park opening is essentially now 9:30 with only Dragons Fury, Dragons Falls, Tomb Blaster, Peeking Heights and the rest of Land of the Dragons opening at 10.

The animals are the best part of Chessington. Yes rides are all well and good but the animals are something special.
  14. Lol.. I wouldn't make a job decision because every now and again you might be able to go on a ride... I think you'd be very disappointed
  15. They are hardly going to say it's an above average ride but no where near as good as the one at Alton Towers are they. It's hardly one of the worse ones either.. Pepsi Max easily takes that position

I'd rather have a view of the sea then a view of closed rides personally (or rides within riding distance that I can't ride because I'm at school!).
  17. Very right. Doesn't matter now anyway, Rameses reopened today some time between 10-11.

ATA's information would be from Alton Towers itself.
  19. Rameses Revenge is currently unavailable. It has been for the last two days and it may continue into the weekend.
  20. Mark9 replied to Sheepie's topic in UK Attractions
ATA has confirmed that the SW6 will be an Intamin rollercoaster. This should put to rest all the discussion that Merlin only go for the cheaper companies.

But why does it NEED to attract more people. It already does its job very well, adding a taller tower with stand up seats is a very short term thing. In a park with Stealth it seems so pointless.
  22. Mark9 replied to Lewie900's topic in General Discussion
It had temporary planning permission (5 years I think) but I believe they got permanent permission in 2006. Don't take that as gospel.Besides Detonator is awesome. It's the very definition of why taller doesn't automatically mean better.
  23. Possibly.. the fastrack points at Chessington are all called the batch position..Ignore my post then.. whey!
  24. Exactly....
  25. Probably because batch is just about the worst positions on any ride anywhere. It's the position where you get the most complaints, moaning, irritating comments and all those snobby guests who genuinely think they are clever buying into the fastrack system. It's very hard to be smiley and polite after even just an hour at batch so here's a typical conversation with a guest on a batch position.Guest:- "How come we keep stopping and you let all those others through first"Staff:- "They purchased fastrack which allows them shorter queueing times"Guest:- "We paid as well, that's not fair"Staff:- "They paid more to be able to use the system"Guest:- "What's your name, I'm going to guest services"Repeat every 2 minutes and you can see why staff really can lose their patience.
