Big fat massive LOL to Towers...Cutting corners is NOT the way to go... Considering what Dreamworks have seen Universal do with the Shrek brand in Singapore, Alton would've needed to get a lot of stuff for them to be happy...Glad though, IPs are terrible in our parks... Not to mention the rethemes that go with them...

It has just recently been announced that Alton will no longer be having a Shrek 4D attraction for 2011, Storybook land was also supposed to be re-themed into the Shrek theme as well, but has been cancelled due to issues with dreamworks. There is more info on TowersTimes (link below). LINK TO TOWERSTIMES ABOUT SHREK CANCELLATION.

As the news article from Towers Times said that the Towers will probably use an in-house Simworx movie instead, I thought I'd have a look at the films they offer (http://www.simworx.co.uk/index_222.asp). Considering they don't seem to want to spend too much on the retheme, it looks like the only option for them now (if they do continue down this route) is the Hansel and Gretel movie as it keeps the fairy tale theme. Got to say the trailer looks pretty horrendous, for all of them in fact... Anyone seen it before?

Shrek 4D "Generic Movie" 4D has now been cancelled altogether.Well, according to these ever more secretive "anonymous sources" that have given TTF all the information so far. Apparently they are now trying to refurb the old Nick Outta Control (look here if you don't know what that is) building for a new "funhouse style attraction". If this is all true, it seems that Alton Towers have completely fallen on their face this year.

Might as well put the news in here as it's for 2011, someone needs to change the topic title though...

Posted ImageIt has been revealed on www.altontowerstrips.com, a commercial partner of Alton Towers, that Alton Towers will be adding a new addition to the Sea Life attraction in Mutiny Bay, Sharkbait Reef.Skeleton Bay will feature 12 giant Japanese Spider Crabs. In 2010, Sharkbait Reef was home to a small Japanese Spider Crab exhibit. The press release for the 2011 season suggests that the new exhibit will be themed for a shipwreck. It is not yet known where the Spider Crabs will be placed in Sharkbait Reef, or if any other displays will be removed.

Something fishy about this tbh...
