THE SWARM: Preview Event?

A lot of the problems are as has been mentioned related to on and off loading. What they don't seem to check in winter testing are the restraint systems, which trip the ride out if not secured properly or if a faulty micro switch is present. They just keep the water dummies secured and send the coaster round and round. If anything will cause some serious delays, it will be to do with the restraints!

I'm sorry, but exactly WHY would the staff NOT check the restraint systems during testing? That's just a silly statement to make, of COURSE they would... Testing a ride involves checking every aspect of it, and the water dummies aren't always going to be sitting in the train all the time are they? This is a B&M, not some dodgy Mauer Sohne Spinner lapbar or an Intamin... I would expect any breakdowns to be minimal and staff to be relatively prepared for opening weekend... I don't think Raptor suffered any severe problems, and whilst the restraints are akin to Air in design, the actual system is pretty normal and just as simple as Inferno or Blivvy's... So no problems there...DO NOT PANIC! They won't make the same mistake with Saw because a B&M's throughput doesn't need to be pushed to be of a decent level...EDIT - ^That's a common theme amongst all Inverts though, cos of all the oil and stuff... Sometimes a completely enclosed casing is just not possible in the design phase of it all due to maintenance and ease of access... Sometimes decisions have to be made in how to ensure certain aspects can be done quickly and simply...Swarm however will run MUCH better than Stealth and Saw did in their opening seasons... Mainly as it doesn't need to push hard for throughputs or attempt to blow itself up...

Btw - both mentions of B&M problems here (inferno lifthill and air restraints) are down to consign, and not down to B&M.There's a lovely article about consign on one of the towers enthusiast websites. They talk about the difficulties they got to get Air working. It's all about their proxy sensors, and what methods they use to ensure the ride is picking up the right things etc.I althought thought Raptor/Swarm etc had the same restraints as air - in that they lock into the side with holes? Or is it retro B&M style locking mechanism? In any case, these shouldn't affect the ride too much anymore.Plus they'll naturally test the restraints. If anything, the staff will be opening and closing them a hell of a lot just getting used to the ride during training pre-opening.
