  1. The Alton Towers Dungeons - New for 2019

The more that is revealed about this project the more soul-suckingly mediocre it becomes. If it were included in the ticket I'd gladly give it a try with an open mind, but I can't even do that. Not going to play Merlin's brainwashing game by paying extra for something I've done many times before anyway. The Dungeon "brand" has been watered down year on year until it's become just another easy to reproduce tourist trap. You could have the same kind of horror/humour experience far better for less price elsewhere. This was the last thing the park needed.

It'll be the Rangers because it'll be an attempt to jump on the nostalgia bandwagon and try to remind us miserable lot that the park used to be enjoyable Of course it could be something new... But with no real addition to speak of in terms of... Anything there's little else it could be beyond a few more dodgy IP tie-ins tacked onto an event or two...

This sounds great, the best parks in Europe have roaming actors. I just hope Thorpe can make it work for the whole season.

It's a bit of a slap in the face to Premium MAP holders. Making their second biggest customers pay extra for the privilege. That's power towers.

It's a bit poor that they took away a family boat ride (forgetting whether the CATCF theme was the best fit, as it could have been rethemed) under the TLC smokescreen, and then are now using this to run an up-charge attraction. Terrible move to make after the success of Wicker Man, they're literally pushing the park backwards again after its recent found success. Merlin aren't fit to run Alton Towers, nor do they deserve a park with so much potential.

Because apparently Dutch law means all new major rides MUST have a behind the scenes documentary on them...

As Stealths wheels heat up, the train moves faster around the circuit. By "opening later" they are essentially delaying the amount of time it takes for the wheels to over heat. Stealth in hot weather will shut down due to an over speed error message at least once an hour on days in excess of 25 degrees Celsius between the times of 12pm and 4pm. Back in the days when I worked on it the average time it took to complete the circuit was around 17/18 seconds, in the extreme summer heat it would go as low as 11/12seconds.

They should find room or make room. Its typical merlin not thinking stuff through and trying to do it on the cheap. If they want to be world beating as they say its about time they start acting like it. The more and more I look at Merlin the more and more I despise them. And I know someone is going to say stealth was built by tussauds but merlin have had long enough to correct their mistakes and to be honest they haven't. All they do is serve up second best because they are a monopoly with very little competition. Cedar point may be closed for longer but the train to month scheduled is still smaller.

Every roller coaster in the world has a recommended minimum temperature to run at. I believe Stealth's is around 5 degrees C. However this is only a recommendation from the manufacturers and isn't a strict rule. The problems that occur in regards to oil temperature are not a consistent problem, it is more of a regular occurrence that the oil tends to raise above the line. I believe Stealth's average normal Oil temp is around 44 degrees C, and the 120 second interval only begins when the temperature reaches 48 degrees C, with a 52 degree C cut off point whereby the ride will be forced to shut down. Unfortunately it's not a design floor that these problem occur in hot weather, any type of steel, or metal for that matter, expands in hot weather. This is why the brakes getting stuck issue occurs. Unlike other launched coasters around the world, Stealth is not sprayed between launches and relies completely on the lubricant used. Eventually, the lubricant dries out due to the heat meaning the brakes more liable to sticking, as well as this the expansion from the heat causes more friction which also in turn makes them stick with or without lubrication. The brakes sticking is not a massive problem, and I'm sure even though they have extra help in other parks via nozzles, they may still encounter similar problems.
