  1. Grr!It's fun firing them at chavs, trust me! :DBut when you're on the ride and getting fired at, it's whole different story! I swore at guy firing at me, last time I went Shan't say what I said coz I'm not proud of it, but at the time I complely forgot about the guns, and was just starting to smile again after the initial, freezing cold water shock...then I get water fired at me :DAnd yes I know the whole point of going on a water ride is getting wet...but that's the first time I've gone on one wearing a vest top in ages! Doesn't matter how hot the weather is! It's still a horrible feeling at first!
  2. Lol Lordcutter6 I thought that as well, about Bank Holiday being yesterday. Meh.I went on Sunday and I guess it was busy-ish, SAW got a 75 min queue at one point. But I wouldn't say it was ridiculously busy or anything.Might as well do a "report" while I'm here :DHad a good day, but forgot to put suncream on so as a result, my lefy shoulder is burnt and it's taking ages to heal, and then last night on the news there's some report about rising cases of skin cancer!Did all the major rides apart from Tidal although we did visit the Splash Zone a fair few times!Samurai was weird...basically it has trouble in the hot weather, one of the problems being it doesn't manage a proper ride cycle, it just goes up and does nout. Well it was closed for a while then reopened towards the end, so we went on it. Went up...went right (or backwards, whatever way you wanna look at it), going slowly, windmilled which was fun-ish...started going the other way, pretty slow...got almost to the top...went back down slowly...got stuck! Then it zeroed and that was it! And the worst thing was the staff didn't notice! 3 Attendants and the operator, NONE of them noticed. Unless they did but couldn't be arsed to give us another cycle. And none of the other guests seemed to notice either which was odd. When our bars were released we asked if it was a joke (well not me personally), the attendant looked rather confused, so we said the ride didn't actually go anywhere and he just went "oh..." and spoke to the op. We got another go and it was a good setting, but it was just odd and quite bad that no one noticed. I wasn't going to go OTT and do the whole Guest Services thing, but I had a good mind to tell a TL or Unit Manager if we saw one, but we didn't. It was kinda funny at the same time but...confusing how no one noticed! Everything else was great, not much downtime, only shutdowns we saw (apart from Samurai) were Zodiac and Loggers. I think X had a shutdown for sick as well, but that's nothing new :)Afterwards, me, Marc and Rob went to a fun fair in Wembley, went on the KMG Booster, and by the time we got on, the queue (yes there was a queue!) had gone down so we had a very long cycle, about 10 minutes long and very intense! Marc enjoyed it very much It was well worth the £4!
  3. Yes :)themeparkmad, I have heard that staff have gone down the slide a few times, so just assumed it was what they did when the queueline is busy.
  4. Not every ride gets tested every morning at Thorpe. Though at Chessie they do :PColossus has to be test ridden every morning because of the foliage. XNWO has to be ridden/the area walked around at the end of the day to check the ride area and the platforms (vomit lol). I've often seen staff on Rush first thing, but I don't know what they are testing for, no one's ever told me :PThat's it AFAIK. Seen staff on Nemmie but don't know if it was a one-off or a morning check. Was hardly put on Stealth last year so can't comment. The only time I was on there fisrt thing it opened late and rolled back twice during testing No idea about SAW...I'm assuming they do, to check the theming is working, but I don't know if that's something engineers check for, or rides staff.Oh and if you're operating Depth Charge, meaning you are at the top, and you are going on break/somewhere else, you have to slide down as there is no other way out when there is a queue! And yeah every now and then they have staff rides at the end of the day when all the guests have gone. And yes the tree did hurt
  5. Ouch! Sorry to hear that!Staff do test the ride every morning with their arms out to check for things like that, so either:1) They didn't have their arms out2) They did but you have longer arms than them :P3) The wind was blowing differently (so it blew the tree away from them, or towards you)4) They didn't test it but this is very unlikely.Random bunch of theories there lol...I remember one time last year when I tested it, there was a branch from a tree after the second corkscrew...it didn't just hit my arm, oh no, it slapped me across the forehead! Obviously the ride didn't open until Landscaping came and chopped it down, we had to test it again to make sure it was gone.

But some people might then watch their DVD, be like "that was good" and not buy it, therefore they would lose buyers. And also can you imagine what it would be like with people standing there for 2 minutes all trying to watch their DVDs? It's crowded enough as it is
  7. Went yesterday, wasn't too busy, SAW had a 40 minute queue for most of the day (and if you don't believe me I have the yellow exit pass to prove it!)Got on quite a lot and was a pretty good day. Weather was lovely, so much for rain!We managed:SAW - 7Stealth - 2Rush - 2Detty - 2Samurai - 1Colossus - 1Inferno - 1Loggers - 1Rumba - 1CCR - 1Teacups - 1Banana ride - 1SAW is bloody amazing without the MCBR trimming anymore, and with 8 cars, obviously less queueing and quicker operation. Onride DVDs are still temperamental, but the photos seem better, so it seems they've finally adjusted the camera to a better angle ;)Rush is now in sync a lot better! Interesting story about how it was done! However swing A (console side) is now quite slow, not very forceful at all. Swing B kicks ass now :PColossus was vile. Sorry but that's the first word that comes to mind! We were at the very back and I suspect it was train 1 cos that's the noisy, vibrating, rougher one. It sounded and felt horrid the whole way round. We weren't going to sit there but there was 2 spaces and as usual all the other guests in the queue were being dappy and not responding, so we thought we'd give the staff a hand. Speaking of the queue...it was 5 minutes! Poor Colossus, no one loves it anymore!Samurai is clearly showing it's age. It's painfully slow and that's not a complaint or anything negative, just an observation. It's actually a shame to see it go so slow, it makes me wonder how much longer it's going to last. Poor thing!Storm In A Teacup was crrrrazy! That was one hell of a teacup we sat in! And we went on just after eating Burger King lol. Just proves that nothing could ever make me sick!Mr Monkey's Big Juicy Banana was fun! Staff were good, Chris was great on Banana! However the staff member in the XNWO bag room towards the end of the day was quite bad, I should have told GS, because when we got there to hand my stuff in he just said "wait there" abruptly, and left the bag room unattended which you should NEVER do. He came back (presumably after going to talk to the greeter), and I can't remember word for word what he said but something like "it's closed so come back later, yeah?"Reliability was pretty good as well! The only shutdowns were Logger's which got evacced, XNWO was down for a long time, then when we went to ride it later it was closed which I just mentioned. Inferno had a sick shutdown when we were queuing, and then SAW closed at the end of the day.Overall a good day!
  8. Yeah we went on yesterday we had to shout monkey!

I want some Dr Peppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer! And I don't have any :DGrr!Bored...so bored I told someone I was pregnant just to see their reaction! :oBut I'm not...well I shouldn't be anyway!
  10. Yep Chris is awesome! Ben do you mean Pooh Bear? Woop!(it's a friendly nickname among the staff, just so you know, I'm not being mean )

Going back to the incidents thing...someone died from a heart attack on Rush I believe, but off-site, not at the park.I think (but I may be wrong) that they had a heart condition and ignored the restrictions, trying to be clever...just goes to show doesn't it...But yeah that part might not be correct but I'm certain that's the case.Boy that's confusing
  12. Mer replied to Phill's topic in Nonsense
I have such a bad cold and a crappy head...bleeurggh.
  13. It's when they come up to you and try to force the basketball or whatever into your hand that's rude as well. Invasion of personal space!!! That would be like the bag room attendant grabbing people and their bags and forcing the wristband onto their wrist IMO.I know they are trying to make money and stuff, but when they stand in your way and try to force you it takes the P a bit!
  14. Ok that's what I meant
  15. :blink:It was Marc's idea, I couldn't have given a s**t.But that's not me being horrible either. I mean I thought I may as well stay with everyone til the end of the day cos at the time we joined the queue, Rob wouldn't have finished work and I'm not going to stand around in the car park like a **** on my own I'm not that much of a fangirl anymore since working at Thorpe. Before I worked there yeah I would have overjoyed to be on the last ride. Yes I was a complete loser back in those days. But not now.So there
  16. I wouldn't say they "removed it" as such :DI went yesterday with Marc. Got on a lot because I'm "magic" haha. Did Stealth about 6 times (where Marc commented on Rob's nice legs ) and SAW 4 times. Colossus and Rush twice. Quantum was poo because Rob sat me next to my worst enemies ¬_¬The worst point of the day (apart from Quantum) was me forgetting I'd put my bag in the left hand side of the bag cupboard on Colossus, and I thought it had been stolen! The highlight was throwing someone's sock into the lake and hearing it plop I am easily amused! And we were on the very last ride of the day on SAW!

Oh god, the fun I had with that PA "Vortex is an intense ride. Vortex is an intense ride. Vortex is an inside ride. Vortex is an intense ride!"Then "Hold on tight. Hold on tight. Hold on tight. Hold on tight."I is easily amused :POccassionally the ride wouldn't start, so the floor lower music would start but the floor wouldn't move, and it was really confusing the first time it happened to me!
  18. I wasn't gonna write a trip report, but I'm bored so I am now! :PWent on Wednesday, only got there at like 3 cos it was a last minute decision. Did all of the main rides except Bubbles. Managed 3 on Fury, and 2 on Vampire and Rattle. I forgot how fun Fury is :PThe Sea Dragons op seemed to be having fun...And we finished the day at the zoo, saw some lions trying to mate, but the lioness wanted out and had a strop Stupid noisy kids kept scaring the tigers and leopards, the leopards were right up close to the window at one point but the stupid brats scared them off! No sign of the parents either...grr! I was on the verge of telling them off!But overall was a fun day hehe.

Tut tut, assuming he's talking about you! You're not the only staff member that interacts with girls in flourescent tutus guests y'know
  20. Mer replied to Phill's topic in General Discussion
But while you're watching, another operator could take over and change the setting
  21. Mer replied to humjosh's topic in General Discussion
Is the Colossus theme on the audio page the proper one with the trumpets in the fast bit? I have the one without the trumpets, but I want the one with the trumpets hehe.
  22. Random post but hey...Blackpool Pleasure Beach is being used in an advert on TV at the moment! It's a Specsavers ad, an old couple end up on Infusion and it says the should have gone to Specsavers thing. Lol.

    They are crossbows and arrows!
  24. Mer replied to Mark9's topic in General Discussion
I think they are meant to be crossbows and arrows, look at the pictures on sawtheride.com in blueprints for torture, bottom right hand picture, also the arrows do move but slowly.
  25. Mer replied to Lewie900's topic in General Discussion
Did you get top swing that time? That could be why it seemed higher. As for the speed, there is no settings for the ride, the only thing that affects the speed is temperature, but it's normally: when it's cold or first thing in the morning, the motors and stuff are still "warming up" so it takes longer to get going, therefore giving a longer ride. You can see from watching how slow it is, it's painful to watch sometimes! But I don't think a hot day would speed it up...and it hasn't been hort recently anyway so I'm confused as well :)I swear rides have minds of their own
