  1. Hold on, I'll be with you in a second... I'm just looking for Leviathan's air-time...

Yep, what Diesel said. You can't just dump loads of mud and earth into a lake and expect it to stand. Creating islands is a process which can take anywhere up to five years to complete, and that's before any construction on rides can take place. And not forgetting that with Thorpe, they have to maintain a land:water ratio (forgotten/was never told exact figures) so if they build new land somewhere, they can't just pump the lake water away and deposit it into the English Channel - they have to flood other areas; they have to displace the water and maintain a certain amount of it for whatever reasons. If you look at Thorpe in Google Earth, you can see they'd already finished Island C and started infilling Island A as far back as late 2008 (Saw's not even finished, if you look at where that should be on the same aerial shot). Island A is now much bigger than how it appears in that four year-old shot; it's quite substantially bigger than Island C actually.
  3. It's been common knowledge for years that there is very little in terms of flat rides that Thorpe could add that they don't already offer in most senses.I wouldn't fancy a Disk-O due to Kobra being just down the road at Chessington, and the same can be said for a Top-Spin because they also have Rameses' Revenge (and Alton Towers has Ripsaw). The only possible flat I would want to see them install is something from HUSS. Hell, I'd love a Topple Tower. They just look so nice even if they fall apart before they're even assembled. I could take or leave a Jump2, but they take up an enormous foot-print (~60ft squared, so bigger than Rush's footprint) and I doubt it'd fit in the space allocated. Topple Towers require about a quarter of the space of a Jump2 and they're great for cross-over appeal. I just hope HUSS have got their arse in gear because after the Dollywood/Timber Tower debacle you'd think they'd sort out the reliability.
  4. So the concrete tunnels and rock gorges on Furius Baco's layout are consistent to a vineyard, are they? First I've seen. Not saying The Swarm is perfect, but I would hail Baco's themeing as all that.
  5. This topic has now been moved to the "Thorpe Park" Sub-Forum as the first day of the 2012 season sees an extremely successful public début for Thorpe's hotly-anticipated new rollercoaster! The remaining topics on Speculation & Theories, Merchandise, etc. will be sorted into more appropriate areas in due course, and there will be links made from the old areas to the new ones to make sure that those that are not aware of the topics being moved do not get too confused at topics randomly disappearing to different areas! Happy 2012 Swarminess!
  6. Surprised it wasn't spotted and sent to the Daily Mail Fail...

    Your Thorpe Park

I'd be happy with either... but I think the Flyer would pip the GCI to be honest. Heck, I'd even take a Starry Sky Ripper replica.

    We can always dream...
  9. Someone needs to go with an amazing camera and take lots of photos of this debris for us nerds who won't ride it for another few months at least!Need my Swarm fix...
  10. The fact they're continuing the promotion even after all the Media events and right up to Zero Hour is really very impressive of them.My hat, as they say, is well and truly taken off to them.
  11. Nah, I understand! It's sort of like Nemesis Inferno when you spin out of it's own Zero-G and into that sharp right turn; the right-most seats are still rotating anti-clockwise and so they feel more of a 'snap' than the seats on the left because with them it's more a case of 'lowering' themselves onto the banked(/inclined) plain of that ground-hugging turn. The right side feels more force as they spin straight into it.
  12. I must admit, there were quite a few (including myself) who though the right side would take the left hands down. What a turn of events to see the left considered more intense!

    Music

Kasabian, Mumford & Sons, The Naked & Famous, Bloc Party, Florence + the Machine, Metronomy, Miike Snow. :wub:Shame The Killers and Noah And The Whale aren't there though. The Killers were amazing headliners a couple of years back.
  14. Okay guys, I think Liam's argument boiled down to "Better open for fewer hours than close the park/individual rides on certain days (or the whole season, in what would be Submission and Enterprise's case)" or something similar. But to be perfectly honest it's up to personal decision whether the closure of half of X-Sector for a season is better than a lost hour for the whole season.I haven't been to Alton in years, so I guess I'm in no position to call it really, having not been since 2002.I can only hope I paraphrased that right. :PEven so, Mark puts this into crystal clear perspective in the last paragraph of the above post. It's quite ridiculous really.
  15. A few posts from this topic have been moved to the Spoiler Topic, which will become the Present Day topic when The Swarm and the park open officially. It's basically so if anyone doesn't want to get the inside experience from all our trusty members too excited to contain themselves, then they can still visit the other topics, but the Spoiler Topic is specifically for all the Swarmy details.
  16. I don't like it because I don't like the kind of music. In my profession that'd be a bit counter-productive. But still, I don't see it suiting the song unless, like Benin says, it's just a new form of PR. I desperately hope this doesn't appear in the queue. Who wants Franceschi's voice wailing at you in the queue-line?

If you try and spin off to any of your friends that buying "The New iPad" iPad 3 is justified by it's "higher screen resolution" then they won't want to be your friends anymore, because no-one should care nor pay that much for something that doesn't jump out of the screen and pass all your exams for you.
  18. Err, I'm sorry? What did people expect? I expected You Me At Six singing about the apocalypse; if any members on here familiarised themselves with any such music they'd probably have guessed this is exactly what it was always going to sound like.Thing is, it's really ****.

That's nothing. Our school filters explode when you try to search "barbed wire".
  22. I might have believed that if it weren't for the badly edited-in "Swarm scream" towards the end. I call bull****, but it's not half bad for an ambient track.
  23. No... Emergency Survival Packs. Might look like lunch-boxes, but I'd rather there be more than just that. I'm talking satchels and such. Lunch-boxes are different but are a good idea also.
