  1. As to the farm costs, just think about it.All the food, drink, bedding, etc. all the animals need will cost. Hiring staff to look after them all year round, clean them up, interact with guests, etc. costs a lot. Running costs to the farm is a lot of money after a while, which is where lack of guests comes into play, then with future plans I guess (the farm would have effectively been closed thorughout last year, no train no boat). The cost of the farm was a lot...
  2. This head banging that everyone's experiencing is probably because the ride has a 100 degree drop! I can't compare to other Eurofighters as I've never been on any, but I've heard they're smooth, but the 100 degree drop probably results to the head banging due to the way is leaves.I think if Thorpe had planned it to be SAW from the beginning (Nov 2007), then the ride layout would be different, and perhaps even the ride. What I mean is that there might have been a bigger indoor section, more chances to miss theming, etc. Also, in an ideal world for me, it would have been a Diving Machine. Imagine being dangled at the top of that drop seeing the headchopper effect for a few seconds... Of course, I guess that comes down to money.
  3. The fact it is a didgy Billy impression is noticable thorugh the entire queue; Tobin Bell's voice is really needed to make the ride better. Firstly, I think every had made high expectations. I'm preety sure most people had that little voice in the back of their heads saying 'That's not as good as I thought it would / could have been'.As to the queue line experience, something to note. I'm preety sure none of the actors were in the queue line, probably only a member of staff at the top of the first flight of stairs(?) The queue line works best when you get the gunshots near the entrance of the station, hear the full dialouge and there's actors inside and maybe out. The gunshot basically comes down to luck. As for actors, they will only appear in the queue line during summer and FN (and maybe one or two during Easter). Therefore, the queue line probably didn't add to the experience because of no actors and not hearing the full tele dialouge due to the screaming girls. The queue line does add to the experience, but only when you are there at the right time I guess...
  4. I thought there were 3 of them WARNING, small spoiler. The outside one, the start of the ride(?) and then when the gunshots and crossbows are fired. CCR was manufactured by a company called Severn Lamb I think...I must say the tele advert is very good (the Merlin Pass thing - on all Merlin ads - is VERY annoyng mght I just add), the radio advert is okay. I'm starting to really dislike the Jigsaw voice used; sounds like a cheap knock-off.
  5. Something to note... the farm's buildings are lsited buildings, therefore any rides would have to orientate around them. Honestly, the best thing that could go there is a Sealife in my opinion, but I just can't see that happening...
  6. In the eyes of the public yes, all these break downs are unacceptable. However, when you have fanboys - the ones who actaully know in more detail what the park is like, etc. - start to have a go at Thorpe, turn their backs on them if you will, then that's what I'm failing to understand. There's being critical and there's just being unreasonable...
  7. Just like to point out on SAW's behalf it is not only a new ride which is bounding to have adjustment issues, it is also a learning curve for Gerstlauer, with the amount of MCBR, the effects, weather problems, etc. Therefore, SAW has to be let of.Slammer, a complicated ride made by a manufacturer whose rides aren't as reliable as they could be. Yes, I suppose it is easily fixable with right training, etc. but the engineering team are probably more concerned about Stealth. Concerning Stealth, which I've heard opened today, there was very strong winds about. Strong winds, plus the extra wind chill and that from the lake means there's more likely to be rollbacks. Furthermore, Inferno's breakdown, a ride is allowed to break down every now and then, am I right? Rush, a prototype, never that much luck anywhere with a prototype. FF and X, usually reliable, but the park is probably just trying to focus on the bigger rides which are in more demand. Not having a go at anyone here, but I'm shocked at the amount of people that are having a go at Thorpe and being not necessarily rude, but 'out-of-order' if you so. Thorpe are trying their best; they hate braekdowns as much as we do. Yes, their reliability can be unacceptable and that is something that Thorpe have admitted to and are putting as one of their main priorities. I'm saying Thorpe are perfect, I'm not saying they don't deserve to have customers being angry at them, I'm just looking at this from an in the middle view. Just remember how hard the park are actually working and remember how much the park has actaully given to you throughout the years of their hard work.
  8. The inline twist could be so much more effective. I honestly just thought that it was a man lying on the floor, no theming around or anthing, it needs to be clearer. I think a saw would have been good there and then the sounds of a saw to show what it is would be much better. The bleeding body might have been better in the indoor queue line, maybe some sort motion dector?

    Freefall!Axe or blade?
  10. Why does everyone feel the need to extend SAW's island with more rides?Samurai could do with fitting in with CC, but I don't want it to go with SAW. As for adding a new ride all together, I don't see the point, the brand is too strong for flat ride and wouldn't be that good. The only other thing that could work is a dark ride themed to SAW, but I doubt Lionsgate would want to have another ride themed to SAW a Thorpe...
  11. I don't know exactly, but Thorpe will probably have a 5 year deal and may extend it if the ride is proving popular and needs to have effects changed(?)One thing to mention; the ride seems to be very friendly if the sponsorship dis run out. What I mean is that it isn't like tons and tons of things are going to have to be taken away, probably only 2 or 3 bits.
  12. I know this has been said countless times, but for God sakes I hope no-one tries to do a POV of SAW with their own cameras. The ride will get stopped. I know most people on here know this, but I'm preety sure some people will read about how there will be a POV on YouTube sooner or later and will do it. With all the cameras about, no-one is safe. Just note that fact, because I doubt many people would want to atmosphere runied by some staff member coming to the car and getting a couple of chavs off.
  13. Could be their families? I'm preety sure they'd be allowed to ride shortly after staff.

  15. Note how the DVD recording equipment is yet to be added. As for the amount of Disciples, I would have thought it would be 4, plus the 1 friend, to fill one car. But considering we won't be the first publice members to ride, plus how long we will be spending there, I can't see it being that low, but we shall see.

    Your Thorpe Park

Yeah, we're nuts! I think a lot of us would love to be in charge of the park or be in charge of our own park, but I think we'd come up with stuff that was literally impossible. My first idea was very unrealsitic, so a crack at a more realistic one...2009) SAW opens; CCR reopens.2010) Miss Hippo replaced with a new flat ride for families, maybe a Disko.2011) No new rides. General park improvements, Colossus and Inferno have both been repainted. Maybe a new 4D that is longer and fits in with the surrounding area.2012) New coaster opens on Treasure Island area. Probably a Flyer, but it would depend on what is best for the park, like with adding on Eurofighter to get a heavily themed ride. New flat ride and maybe a relocated flat from the park added as well.2013) X recieves a new layout and maybe a name change. Samurai moves to the new island along with the other rides. Work on a new dark ride begins. 2014) Due to another agreement with Lionsgate, SAW recieves new effects and a new dark ride themed around 'a game' in place of Samurai. Work on TP Hotel.2015) On another new island, a new coaster for 2016 is being prepared. No idea what coaster; depends on what's around.2016) New coaster and Hotel open.I'd call it quite realistic and it fits well to what TP have been doing.

    Unbranded rip-off! :Sb or d?
  22. Sitting on the far left hand side, that bit must feel so much like an inversion! The ride does seem to be coming along nicely. The barbed wire can be seen from the bridge and even outside the park, giving that feeling straight away of evil and darkness. From what I've heard; one of the best themed rides in Europe?

    Puzzles & Riddles

All the weights are correct to the nearest kilogram. Therefore, all the weights could be -0.5kg lighter than you stated. Therefore, the man weighs 77.5kg, the bars weight 0.5kg and the sign means 79.5 kg.The man walks across with all 3 bars, which totals up to 79kg, which is 0.5kg less than the maximum load and thus gets across safely with all three bars.Probably wrong, but there's always a chance.

    Your Thorpe Park

I'm not having a go at anyone when I say this s everyone has the right to their views, but I can't stand the idea of having rides open mid-season. I didn't like with Rush or any other rides in other theme parks. Yes, they are usually for good reasons, but it has to open or the beginning or it just isn't the same.Anyway, here's mine...2009) SAW opens. On quiet days, some rides close (a bit like Chessington) unless there's demand for them. This means rides could be more reliable on peak days. 2010) Colossus and X repainted. General park improvements.2011) The space that was once occupied by Hippo Safari is replaced by a dark ride suitable for families; Flying Fish style ride. Similar to WWH, interaction, no guns though. Three floors high with a nice drop as a finale. Project U is to be worked on, opening in 2013, promising to be a world's greatest. Rumba Rapids closed in October so it can receive an extension or 2012.2012) Rapids extension opens. Treasure Island reopens with a Sci-Fi / Futuristic theme. A Sci-Fi tunnel from the new dark ride takes you there. A new Disko opens along with a couple of other family rides. Project U (very exspensive) is still being worked on. Also for 2013, Project FINK is annouced. Standing for Flyer in Neptune's Kindom, a family flyer with some water interactions, similar to Manta's theming. It will be small, relatively cheap and suitab;e for families so younger ones can have a true roller coaster. 2013) FINK opens, proving to be a huge sucess. Project U is a Sci Fi / Future themed ride. Manufactured by B&M, it is Merlin's biggest investment yet, costing £17-18million. The ride is to be 120ft high (local council allowed it due to track colour) and will be Europe's longest coaster. Trains like a Diving Machine, the ride contains: an indoor station, the classic DM drop, 6 inversions, near misses to theming, a world's first element and a small indoor section (could that be put underwater... probably not). The park say their new roller coaster won't be at the park until 2017 / 2018.2014) No new rides, but the park does well finacially and still brings in plently of vistors. The park decides to bring back noticeable themed areas for 2015.2015) No new rides again. Ranger County is rethemed to include the dark ride, but no rides are taken away, but renamed. Lost City totally rethemed and most rides renamed. Samurai, Colossus and SAW are made into their own horror themed area, each being themed to a different horror film. CC, NK, Amity Cove and Calypso Quay just have their areas refurbished with Detonator having a name change and Time Voyagers being replaced for a film to fit in with the theme.2016) New flats are added in the park, can't be bothered to say what or where. Last year of X, as 2018 coaster (still indoors) will replace it. Saw recieves some new effects.Unrealistic I know, but oh well, we can all dream.
