Just wondering when TPM Chat will be getting scheduled chat times. Seems rather pointless at the mo when logging onto it and having no one to chat to.
  2. That was my idea, by the way. I don't think Thorpe could do this for the simple fact it would be rather hard to incorporate it round the park, dropping off people in suitable places that would cause too much congestion. It would be rather hard to maintain and might not be cost effective enough. Also, I personally think it would be much easier for people to walk around because, lets face it, the CCR loop is very popular and having one all round the park would be too much.As for my idea, I'm working on a map that would look like TP's one off of Wikipedia that I will hopefully post soon.
  3. Well, it is still the same concept, just placing it in a different place for safety reasons. So why have the park done a U-Turn on SRQ all of a sudden?
  4. My theme park would have to be in Britain somewhere. It would have 5/6 areas with some room to extend of course. The areas would be: Future / Sci-Fi, Horror, Sports, Historic and Water. (The sixth one would be added later, and maybe a small seventh with the room). Each area would have a major ride, usually a coaster or very good flat. It would be a family theme park, with most areas having at least 1 big ride, 1 family ride and 1 kiddie ride.NB: The area lists below would be when the are is at its absolute prime and if the park wasn't subject to noise and height restrictions, etc. Each area would have a train station, in which you could take a train (there'd be 3/4 on the track) to each area of the park. Each area does have toilets, shops and food outlets themed appropriately, but I'm not writing them down below to save time. Future / Sci-FiMain ride would be a B&M Floorless Diving Machine. The height / drop would be 150ft / 145ft respectively, with a tunnel for the bottom 30ft of the drop. The tunnel would have a spinning effect (not sure what they're called) that was in the old X queue line and I think is now used in Hellgate. The rest of the ride would have pretty basic elements but weave in and out of tunnels with futuristic effects and sounds in the tunnels. Though there would be no clean cut story line, it would be a simple go into the future idea. There would be 1 flat, being 2 duelling drop towers, 60ft tall, but 50ft underground. Again, simple future idea with some nice music. There would also be a kiddie ride, like Ollie Octopus at TP, with a clichéd centre piece.Horror The main ride would be a dark ride. Very claustraphobic and 'in your face' with a curse like theme. Loads of hidden surprises that make everyone jump and has a recommended age restriction of 12 due to the scares. One flat ride would be an indoor Top Spin. Whenever water is squirted, red lights underneath it make it look like blood on and off ride. Some quick squirts would be heated slightly, like on SAW to give a more surreal effect. The story line is entering a place where someone was supposedly murdered. A family flat ride would be a magic carpet with some theming attached to make it look like an axe. Another flat would be added in later. Due to the horror idea, it wouldn't have any kiddie rides.SportsThe main ride would be an Intamin duelling accelerator coaster, themed to a race. The tracks start off side by side and then race off at speeds of 75MPH in about 2.5-3 seconds, to give a less forceful launch as Stealth. The non-inverting ride goes through lots of over banked turns like Rita and the station in themed to a pit stop area. The trains are given some good looking race car themes and riders can choose what car to choose what train they want to ride on. The winning car receives a message from their coach congratualting them, while the losing car gets a message from their coach commiserating them. Other rides include a Disco with a loose theme of a Hammer Throw as well as an Enterprise themed to a training session. There would also be a ride like Rocky Express (what are they called again?) with a small theme or a 1500M race. HistoryThe main ride would be another coaster, this time an Intamin woodie. A maximum height of around 100ft / 110ft. It would be themed to the Trojan Horse offering, with onboard audio. Of course, it would have very little historical references, but just take the idea of a true event. Flat rides would include a Screaming Swing that tells a brief (with made up parts) of the Gunpowder Plot, and the ride is themed upon the explosion, if it was to happen. The surrounding area / queue line would look like the Houses of Parliament in that time (well roughly). There'd also be a couple of kiddie rides.WaterThe main would be a Mack Log Flume. It would be 70ft long, with a triple main drop (like how Loggers has a double one). There would be a couple of mini drops and some squirters as well, which have been well hidden. No mainstream them, expect about getting wet. Another ride would be a Shoot the Chute. It would only be 50ft high and you wouldn't get no where near as wet as on Tidal Wave. Again, just themed about getting wet.As well as that, there'd also be a Water Slide, 30ft tall, but with 6 slides unlike Depth Charge's 4. If possibly, the dingys would be able to hold 3 people, rather than 2. Again, just a little theme about getting wet. There would also be a beach for everyone to relax during summer months / hot days.HotelThere would be a Hotel with 180 rooms. As there's 5 themed areas, there'd be 36 rooms themed to each area, but when a sixth is added, that would be reduced to 30, and if a seventh is added, then there'd be 27 rooms themed to the 6 areas, and 18 to the seventh, much smaller area.NotesSome maybe wondering why there are no rapids. The simple reason is they'd be added in a new area. I felt that no rapids would be needed in the park there was. The new coaster to go in would probably be a Eurofighter and a Mack Powered coaster would have to be added in sooner or later somewhere. Any comments, just say.
  5. Ah right, I was thinking of the disabled pass - which some people do call exit passes. Sorry about the confusion. And yes, there is a SAW exit pass if you are in the queue / ride when it breaks down.
  6. But SAW is on the Exit Pass, but can only be used if going through the Fastrack (or, as one of my friends call it: Fatsrack ) queue line or using he disabled lift. Unless we are thinking of a different 'Exit Pass'?As for SRQ returning, I would like it, but it probably won't return. The only chance of it returning is if there is a make shift queue line in the gates between Fastrack and Normal queue line and using the indoor Fastrack queue for SRQ, and SRQ joining at the bottom of the stairs, which would be very much a hassle for the dispatcher there. So, Colossus 2009, where is SRQ returning and how well is it working?

Like the idea, but surely the name 'GameStation' would cause copyright issue with a shop of the same name (unless you would sponsorship for it?) Also, really don't like the whole 'The Ride' after every one. I'm pretty sure if none of them were 'The Ride' at the end of them, they would sound better.
  8. SAW was originally planned to have 4 inversions, with a dive loop mid way through the course. This layout would also have had an extra MCBR but no airtime hill. Obviously, it was changed to loose these 2 elements. I think it may have been because having 2 outdoor MCBR would just be a bit boring and unsightly, I much rather prefer an airtime hill to another MCBR and dive loop, plus, it makes the dive loop we have seem much better.

So we have till 9:30 to get our entries in yes? Just my computer is playing up!
  10. JoshC. replied to James6's topic in Nonsense
Well, here's my entry...SAW - Going Over...(Sorry about the poor, mobile phone quality.)
  11. Got hit by a £1 coin whilst on Vortex. Was only on the hand but hurt a bit and did leave a small bruise. I have seen some other incidents, such as a shoe flying of Detonator and a hat flying of Stealth.
  12. Very simple - do not want an office job! Couldn't stand sitting in front of a computer for hours on end really.I want something to do with coaster designing to be honest. A designer or an engineer really. Is basically my dream job. However, quite a few people say I'd make a good Maths teacher...
  13. That what makes it better for me to be honest. I prefer the second car for the first go, but after a couple of goes you get bored with it. My main problem with the first car is that all you get is a laugh from Billy, which is used to often. I would have much preferred to hear 'Face Your Fears' as you pass him.

I love the theming ideas, but the ride itself is a bit, well, much. I mean a wooden roller coaster going backwards, in the dark, with vertical loops? For a good old fashioned woodie, it is a bit much. I love the creativity of the idea and it is Your Thorpe, but it is perhaps a bit to elaborate. Sorry to be negative, as it is a very good, creative idea - but just seems too much really.
  15. I would much rather that Thorpe were king enough to offer free water to the public. Even if it was tap water placed in some sort of office cooler, or filled into small bottles. Not everything has to be a money making scheme.
  16. Which basically means that Thorpe Park want the public to break their own rules (do not eats or drink in the building) just so they can make, what in comparision to everything, would only be a few quid extra.
  17. In what ways do you mean the queue puts you off? Is it too surrounding, too in your face or what? Or do you just mean queue times?
  18. 13 for me. :(However, getting above 20 odd would be good for anyone considering how busy it most times. It if far easier to get high ride counts on Inferno and Stealth this year though, so I'd be happy to get 20 on SAW and reach something along the lines of 30-50 rides on Inferno and 20-40 on Stealth. Just imagine when 2012 comes, SAW-side will be dead while the new coaster ad assumingly Stealth / Inferno side will be pretty packed out...
  19. I'm going to hazard guess at: "Please be aware that SAW - The Ride is Thorpe Park's most reliable ride and to this date has experienced over an hour's worth of operation - the highest of any ride in the park. However, we do regret to announce that SAW has currently ceased operation." :huh:But seriously, did it break down? Or was it something far more exciting?
  20. JoshC. replied to Phill's topic in Nonsense
Blimey! Tidal Wave without a Stealth, Colossus without a SAW. That just doesn't seem right...What year was that? I remember watching it, but I just can't remember when.
  21. Wherever you sit in the front row (but only if you don't par attention to the swinging blades), you can see the drop and soemtimes, you can see the spikes as well.

Following their recent video, I can hardly see a Summer Festival coming that would be family-friendly... Do remember that a magic carpet ride was at Chessington, I think in the site that went on to be occupied by Samurai(?), so bringing Quantum to Chessie would surely defy logic. If any TP ride would get relocated to Cheesie, it would have to be Depth Charge in my opinion, because it suits the family appeal and with a spruce-up, it would look nice, but I can't see that happening anyway... (Sorry for the negativity).EDIT: My idea...2010: No new rides. The entrance is given a complete refurbrishment. All the on the day tickets can be purchased in a new building. The building is in place of the ticket booths there are now and extends a bit into what is now some of the queue line. The inside has TVs which show promotional videos of some of the rides and also gives information on what rides are down and if rides will be opening late, etc. Also, a new queue which isn't made from the ugly metal gates is introduced. It is made from wood and is coloured very brightly. Though it will be mainly made of a cattle-pen style queue, it will have some scenes in it showing some of the rides in small models, which would hopefully take some of the pain out of queuing to get in. Samurai would get a repaint and small retheme, with new music and a new name - something basic like Buzzsaw but a bit different (if you get what I mean). If it was economically viable to do so, Colossus would get a repaint with similar colours, but just different enough for the public to notice. If that was unable to happen this year, it would happen next year,2011: Slammer is replaced by a new flat with high capacity. A new coaster is announced for next year, it is a woodie and will be on Treasure Island.2012: New woodie opens. Honestly, I'm happy with my previous idea for a woodie, with it being marketed as 'Safe as Steel', etc. It's a few pages back if anyone wants to have a look at it. A Splash Battle also opens, and is also having some sort of wooden theme to it, fitting in with the whole 'wood crazy' park area. A new FN maze that is related to a lumberjack gone mental is also opened on the island. The idea of it is that you pass through many different scenes, each containing an actor playing the lumberjack, and also come into some close calls with some theming (a 'falling' tree). Though it wouldn't be as in your face as the others, it would hopefully scare people on a more psychological level.2013: Rather unfortuantely, most of Ranger County would have to be taken out. The sire that once occupied the Showcase and MHFS is taken up by a dark ride which would be psychologically exhilarating, but with less 'thrills'. It would also take up Mr Monkey's Banana Ride, in which a dropping section is put in place. A bigger Pirate Ship to replace the Banana Ride is put on the wooden related island. Due to the space that the Asylum had being taken away, the dark ride is turned 'Live' (a bit like Duel at AT), with actors on the ride, to compensate with the loss.

    China.Torchwood or Doctor Who?
  24. By 'abusing it', I was told that people were getting too many re-rides without having to queue, and it was considering unfair to others. In other words, people were using SRQ to the full while still sticking in the rules. Lets face it, did anyone break the rules? Where on the rules of SRQ does it say you can't use it as many times as you like? And I do believe that groups who don't mind splitting up and riding by themselves are welcome to ride it. So no rules were broken - they were stuck to at all times. In my opinion, people can't say it was abused, because then you could say it is abusing the queue if people go to Inferno / Stealth at the beginning of the day (when it is dead) and get 5,6,7... re-rides. In the end, the rules were taken advantage of, and there is nothing wrong with it in my opinion. I honestly think it was just because Fastrack was finally installed an the park didn't want to upset paying guests by making ti look like they were queuing longer than SRQ-ers.
  25. £4.You do miss a lot of the queue line experience as well as all the tension building. You would probably have to wait no longer than 10 (maybe 15) minutes. If you want the full experience of SAW, go nearer the end of the day, when the queue won't be as long as it would have been the rest of the day.
