MattyMoo reacted to Vinlarr89 in Hyperia - New for 2024
Actually with the right admixtures it will 😏 once the chemical reaction starts, hence how concrete can be poured under water. However generally you are correct, concrete isn’t poured in the rain as the increase in water content affects concrete strength. Not something you want in a coaster of this size!!

Just to add to this - concrete doesn't set when it's peeing it down with rain 😆

Slammer won't be removed until they have something to go in it's place or plans for the area, I guarantee.
If they haven't fixed/replaced an on it's last legs screen, or have multi-coloured tarmac all over the place due to laying cables or whatever, then I can't see them spending money on removing an SBNO ride that is sort-of hidden and next to a not very popular "experience".

It's getting worse still, just turn the god damn thing off already and stick a vinyl over the top.

MattyMoo reacted to Glitch in SAW: The Ride
Is SAW the best IP Merlin have got? Who would have thought we'd still be here releasing Saw Movies..... Whoever decided to pick this IP should be held at the same level of respect as John Wardley.

Very true - by contrast, Tulleys VIP is now £102 each including fees, if you order on Black Friday. Last year we managed 26 run throughs in total using that - when you factor in the fact we got a £10 food voucher, £5 drinks voucher and £15 merch voucher - even discounting the merch, you would almost certainly eat and drink on a visit, so £82 for the ticket, £3.15 a maze represents good value to me.

I'm pretty sure I read on the passholder Facebook group a while back that they were toying with the idea of an unlimited scare maze pass - someone threw a ballpark figure out there of £100 I'm pretty sure and the park came back and said it'd likely exceed that amount if they did decide to implement it. (Don't quote me on the figure - I definitely remember the conversation taking place, but don't quite remember the ballpark figure thrown out there by a member of the group)
I get that it has to be expensive to avoid everyone buying it and therefore solving nothing, but surely they can get away with charging less than that. Even at £100 a pop, for that to be worth the money you'd need to do the mazes 20 times (and that's just to break even, you'd have to do it more than that to really get your money's worth!) - which would be a stretch considering just how busy peak Fright Nights can be.

All I know is, doing the Blue Light day last year as well as standard FNs made me really miss the multiple-run through days. I'd be more keen if Thorpe offered an unlimited maze ticket to be honest. I very much begrudge the "one and done" ticketing system, especially on quieter days where they could easily have more run throughs. (That said, last year the ticket scanning was sporadic at best, meaning a couple of extra run throughs may well have occurred 👀 )

I would imagine shipping containers on the picnic area plaza where Saw Alive queueline used to be.

Truly depressing seeing the state of the posters in the queue line on Ghost Train. Can't quite believe they'd make the same mistake again to be honest, could they not have some sort of plastic cover over the top? Appreciate someone might scratch it but the posters would still look good from a distance.

Just saw an ad on TV featuring Ghost Train - new, or do I just not normally watch ads 😂

Would be odd calling it Odyssey considering Colossus was Project Odyssey - or maybe this will be "a nod" to Colossus if you will, or an easter egg zzzzzzzzzzzz

Just turn the bloody thing off already, that's hideous. It's slowly dying, and if they move those new dead pixel panels to the bottom like they did before, there'll be even less of a usable screen.

I still think the idea of some pre-booking "extreme" up charge type situation is the only short term future for the "experience" before it's moth balled.
Pre-booking & up charge means you know what money is coming in to justify the staffing and costs of powering the thing on in the morning.
As previously mentioned, customer feedback on Facebook is particularly awful, good comments are about 1 in 30 I'd say.

Sorry but not sorry for double posting, but obviously, if there HAS been a crack found anywhere, there's no way on earth that Thorpe are going to say "Yes, Premium MAP holder, much beloved for supporting the Merlin empire with your hot dogs in Thermos flask, the track has massive ruddy crack in it, sorry fella"

They need to bring back being asked if anyone is scared of spiders in the "plinth" room after the pre-show I think.
I might get to ride experience if/when I get to FRT NTS this year, otherwise, it'll be 2024 when they bring back the Demon.

I feel the fact that it isn't even referenced on the app does not bode well.

GST TRN seems to be continually in my socialz as a sponsored post so I like to see what people are commenting.
Seems to be universally panned by those that ride, but I think the main issue is that people don't feel it's worth it vs. the queue length, so straight away they are expecting a lot because of waiting so long.
I won't get to ride until Fright Nights most likely, when it'll probably be on version 3.0 and/or a special Engineering Works version for spooky szn.
