Ghost Train - Inner workings.
Aren't said boxes with crosses on the plans representative of lifts (I.e. Wheelchair lifts)? Like, image of the building plans is needed to confirm...

Pleasure Island Cleethorpes - Closing Down
A lot of UK parks definitely have strained relationships with locals and council; but it is a two sided thing and the parks need to do what they can to try and say to the NIMBYs that they are worthwhile existing...

Thorpe Park Staff
One thing that always interests me is that in many parks abroad there are very few with those in a similar age range as our parks... Young adults are still prevalent, but there's a lot more over 25s in many parks, Dollywood had even older staff as a constant... Perhaps opening it as an actual career, rather than a summer job would improve staff retention AND give them a goal if they come in with minimal grades or whatever... Unfortunately menial jobs in the UK are really looked down on...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
Or because it's a ghost TRAIN ride? Bet the marketing boys were patting themselves on the back for that one...

People Moaning About Safety
Just think, in a few years we'll look back on this news story with fond mammaries...

People Moaning About Safety
Oh I only read the Mirror article and they were all hitting on her. Grim times...

People Moaning About Safety
To be fair, Colossus IS dreadfully designed restraint wise, and is unforgiving for a fair amount of guests... Still, she gets some fame out of this, some of the comments are creepy though...

SAW: The Ride
There was a person around on the forums who had a g force reading for many rides... Wonder if they did Saw... You could easily hit 5G on Saw, if only for .1 of a second and it'd still count anyways... Indeed most of any ride's highest g force is very quick and sudden otherwise there'd be a lot more issues if they were sustained for a duration...

Scarefest
TOTT was longer when free because it didn't have to share the building with other mazes would be my guess... When will our parks and guests realise that scarezones ARE just pathways with theming and roaming actors?

Walibi Belgium
Another shuttle coaster?

SAW: The Ride
Both Saw and Smiler could've been built with lap bars, half the time it's the owners decision (if there is a choice obviously) and I think a lot of the choice is often based on the country of residence... Lap bars on an intense coaster would probably appear unsafe to the masses... Karacho is probably a good example comparison as it does have similar train and elements to Saw... Plus a launch as well, though I reckon the main reason for OTSRs would be the drop, and though Iron Shark has both that and lap bars, 6 years is a long time for further development to allow Gerst to provide such an option for their Eurofighters...

Bubbleworks
That model is so dull and awful... There's zero sense of motion (because lol animations cost money), and the 2d cave backdrop is so cheap and tacky... No doubt that model will appear in the ride too...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
To be fair Thor's Hammer at Tusenfryd or Huntik at Rainbow Magicland could've been within the budget of this, though TH does suffer a little bit as a result...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
People complained about the original ending of Terry too... Assuming it ends up with a scare corridor ending, would people think that it would be a suitable/satisfactory for a £30m attraction?

Bubbleworks
That's not exactly a forfeit though is it? How about you change your username to LegoblandSam instead?

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
Wonder if they're gonna add the rumoured (when construction was going on) mirror maze section? Cor imagine if that's actually what the only change was...

Bubbleworks
Minions were a great comedic sidenote in the first film, unfortunately popularity saw to a dreadful level of overexposure which peaked with their dedicated film... As Ryan said, Universal hold the rights to that little pie of money making...
-
Bubbleworks
But Bubbles at it's core was ALWAYS a kids ride... It was just designed (like a good kids film) to have jokes and a style aimed towards mum and dad to keep them equally entertained...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
It's funny how people's opinion of the ride vary so wildly based upon what was broken or not... That in itself is proof that the ride isn't working to the correct level it should be, and needs a serious look... Unfortunately, it was also so predictable that it would be like this...

Legoland
Some rumours say yes, but it's been confirmed that Symbolica will be trackless, so no as well...

Chessington Park Operations
Is it rude for say, platformers to do their actual job (I.e. Check restraints, get people on/off rides) over asking asinine questions to guests as they stand at the airgate? Like, very few parks have any form of guest interaction aside from roles which involve the chance to do so, such as F&B, entertainment (lol as if we have that department anymore), maybe an exit/disabled host if they have a chance... Ride platform is not one of them... On 3 train Vampire you didn't have time to do that rubbish... A busy staff member shows much more to guests after a 45 minute queue than one with a forced smile and question... Also I know exactly who Archive means, grade A pot from a salad restaurant...

Things You've Overheard at Parks
Hilarious how those not involved in the fandom know nothing of why Loggers is closed... Even though he would normally be relative accurate if it weren't being left to rust...

Chessington Park Operations
I do remember a portion of reading (more so for an operator) and then a fair amount of shadow work before an actual verbal and visual test with a TL back in the day... Only real flaw there would be depending on the individual you shadowed as well as the trainee's attitude... Sounds like the push towards theoretical stuff (which NEVER works in practice, especially in a theme park environment) has completely killed it...
-
Chessington Park Operations
Or like when Chessie also thought that staff constantly interacting with guests would be better than throughput... Any operator knows that after 45/60 minutes queuing guests do not really care (or at least, I don't) for the inane forced chatter of "how's your day been?" and what not... Yes I'm still enraged about that stupid time the staff wouldn't dispatch Fury because of the 'flag your arms' crap... It's been going rapidly downhill for years, hidden first behind guest interaction and now safety... Wonder what the training procedures are like these days...
-
Chessington Park Operations
It's a definite excuse, unfortunately there's obviously ways to have good throughputs AND a sense of safety, but of course improving throughputs doesn't help sell fastrack so the park is pretty much screwed...
