    Legoland

Lego open later than on a random Wednesday than Chessingtons peak Halloween event when it will ikely be just as unbearably busy. LOL at Chessington.
  2. The start of 'Thorpe Park World of Adventures' while they slowly turn Chessington into the new unthemed ride emporium, a la the old Thorpe Park?

I know it is still the summer holidays, but hitting capacity midweek? Blimey! https://www.facebook.com/officiallegolandwindsor/posts/10151606975713364

    Music

My very local festival this weekend which always puts on a good lineup for a small event. Can't go due to work, but I'll e able to hear it in from back garden when I am home. Nice!
  5. Girl suffers minor injuries on kiddie ride, seems like it was started when she was boarding. Worryingly... Lets hope the mean her contract!
  6. And plenty of reasons for last year being a bad one beyond the swarms reception. All goes to show the insrant return is not the be all and end all of investment. I've always thought, and it has partially been confirmed by wardleys recent words, that merlin don't see things this way.
  7. Followed by a very strong second year. I hope the money men note that too, building quality is better in the long term.
  8. Gold fish (shubunkin (sp?)) in an outdoor pond.
  9. Just found one of my four fish floating belly up to that great pond in the sky. I've only had them a couple of months and I don't know what I'm doing with them. They seemed to be happier recently, more active and feeding well, but now I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong. Maybe it was suicide?!

    The Smiler

I'm not talking about the strength of the net, more the spacing of it. It would be luck if it sopped things like coins, keys and maybe the odd sheered bold, all of which would do you no good at 50mph!

    The Smiler

Depends which way it falls! I don't get it. It is either safe to stand there or it is not, that net isn't going to stop many small hard things likely to be flung from the ride or the riders and it looks ugly.

    Random

    Hours of fun... http://whatrhymeswithhug.me/
  13. He wanted one for Alton and at Thorpe and has designed many that have come to nothing. He's now retired, although not ruled out at least assisting on the right project in the future. Details here. The fact that some of these plans have got to a fairly advanced position before being pulled has got to be a good sign that we may see some wood in the not to distant future. I hope!
  14. I really don't believe it would. The lack of woodies makes it much easier to get a UK / Europe first if that's what they want to aim at. There's very little to go up against! I simply do not believe people need persuading that these things are safe. Basically, the public know that the park would not open anything dangerous, regardless of how insane it might look. There is a general trust in the offerings of static parks. That's not the point. Of course there was a level of initial interest, but The Swarm failed to bring the punters in across the season, and that's a fact!
  15. I still can't make my mind up with these hybrids (quite sensibly really, as I haven't ridden one!), there's something about them that just doesn't seem right, like it is cheating itself pretending to be something it is not. You say it is that smooth, does it still feel like a woody though? Surely they shouldn't be that smooth. I think we could do with a couple of modern full on woodies over here first while we see how the hybrids age.

    Oakwood

Sorry, but no. That is simply not true, the required checks are the required checks and are just as important regardless of who's died. The new procedures will slow throughput though if those constant 'in operation' checks are deemed necessary. They don't open it early because it saves a ton of money when people don't want to ride it, 2PM seems a bit extreme though, I'd have thought it would have picked up around lunch about 12 or 1.
  17. Looking pretty bad... This is the cliffs opposite adventure island, it isn't supposed to be a waterfall! I should imagine all this is pouring straight across the road and into the park. <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=10151816470927744" width="226" height="400" frameborder="0"></iframe> EDIT: park is opening again today so must have come off relatively lightly compared to the rest of the seafront.
  18. Disturbing 'news' that the park is currently severely flooded to a damage causing extent along with most of the arcades and bars along the seafront. Hopefully this is just facebook rumourmill nonsense, but the way it has been chucking it down outside for hours on end I wouldn't be surprised! EDIT: I think this is the view from beyond sealife looking towards the park, so there might be something in it.

    Wicker Man

Hmm, I thought it turned out that although the drawn plans that appeared were faked the actual concept was a genuine one being considered? Maybe not then. Either way it won't be SW8!

    Wicker Man

I'll think you'll find it was, long before the Smiler or Thirteen, but it was a real planned concept nearly 10 years ago.

Hello and welcome. This is a bit of an old one I'm afraid. The plans were from 2004 and have long since died, they can be seen here. Shame, as it could have been good. A damn site better than Rita anyway. Oh well. And Wardley has retired, mostly, for now. He's not getting anything built at Alton for the foreseeable.
  22. You may well be right Sidders, but until it happens we really don't know how good it will be. There are a number of angles they can come from with a good few of these which could make each one interesting and unique. To say you are not even going to bother with some of them because of lack of originality without even seeing or hearing what it is they've done is not really fair, is it?
