True, but I've done Finland and that lot are all the same in my narrow minded head! One day hopefully, but it isn't top of my list at the mo.

It is all subjective though isn't it, because for me the zero g and inline are both dull and inexplicably forceless in reverse while the drop is a very enjoyable experience it is not better, just different. The best seats for me (by quite some way) were the back row facing forwards, and they don't exist any more. The quicker they give up on this stupidity the better, but I expect it to remain indefinitely.

Then you are in luck! Would love to find myself there one day, especially for the Banana, but no sure there is enough to get me all that way especially for the park. I'll have to find another reason to be in Denmark.

Brean Leisure Park - Fun City Trip Report and Ridecount
pluk replied to Coaster's topic in Your Planned Trips and Reports
Miami / Music Trip rides are quite famous for flinging people from them occasionally actually, usually when riders are below the height requirement but some models have had issues with the restraints themselves. Unfortunately I've seen it with my own eyes at a local fair in the early 90's when a girl went on quite a flight but wasn't badly injured (one of two fairly serious accidents I've seen in person, the other being a ski jump lose a carriage at full speed, thankfully it was empty and missed bystanders but could have been horrific). Quite hard to find articles on incidents because of the name for the ride confusing the results and most of the incidents were when the design was new 20 odd years ago and the internet didn't exist. Still is safe though, a lot safer than your journey to the fair anyway! Must get to Brean at some point, used to love SI2 and I only hear good things about what they have done with it. -
Once it is up? If they do that is an odd way round to do it and will make a mess of all that is around it.
-
Doesn't rain water on rusty metal equal rusty drips on people below, and the nice floor? Could get messy.
-
Awesome.
-
Jolly nice of them. Guess it is a busy bank holiday then?
-
Han your massive flares are amazing. If the your restraint failed on Samurai you could probably parachuted safely to the ground.

Loved this, Will Smith seems like such a genuine guy.

Amazing find, thank you. But I can't agree with that, it was a proper little adventure. It could have kept it's heart, soul and narrative and just evolved over time into something the same but more modern. In fact it is one of the only dark rides with a storyline in which hand held lasers would have made sense and actually worked well, it even had a pretend one in the shape of a button to beat the Gorg. So in a more imaginative and classier way than sticking green LEDs to every surface they could have introduced the 'fun' shooting eliminant around what they already had. I am confident it is not just nostalgia, a modernised 5th Dimension would fit perfectly at Chessington.

I think it because, from an engineering point of view, it is much simpler to reliably launch a couple of tonnes of stuff into the air every couple of minutes than it is to spray some water or turn on some lights. Apparently.

So do I, it still doesn't have one. (plot that is, not profile pic! if it did have one it should be this and not this )

What I said when this yellow first come out, the whole thing is going to look really dirty, tatty and old very quickly using such a vibrant colour that will show up the dirt unless they really keep on top of cleaning and maintenance, and we all know how good they are at that. At this rate it'll look knackered before it has even opened. What the actual .... Am I missing something, do we know what this is about?!
-
Bubbleworks has a plot? It reminds me of catcf the ride in that they are both ruined versions of their former selves.

I never realised I was the same age as Thorpe! That is quite depressing. Good work Phill and the Memories of Thorpe Park team for this.

This whole thing is a bit pathetic really. With the work that has been going on in the last few days after the scheduled opening, taken with the obviously severe problems the ride itself has been having since press day, it must have been clear the date was unrealistic long before the 20 hours notice given. It seemed obvious at the time that the date given was wildly optimistic and that they were setting themselves up to fail, and now they've failed. I don't deny that on top of the initial planning being seemingly rushed and construction late starting they've also been plagued by problems it would have been hard to foresee, but this opening fiasco at the business end is inexcusable really. Once you end up with a mid season opening date there is no doubt soft openings are the way to go, stops a finished ride sitting there out of action (which doesn't matter on closed season constructions) but without having to set a date for the moment it could be ready and then disappointing everyone when it isn't.
-
They did say that was an option I think, but not a certainty. With what is going on up North I think one thing we can rule out is it being a gerstlauer!
-
RR was just jealous of everyone elses scaffolding and wanted in on the action.
-
For me it's the original original fish - Space Station Zero. But that is just from a nostalgic point of view, it would seem really crap now, whereas WWH was and still would be amazing so that is the one I wish would return the most. I also still think it is crap that CCR is gone.
-
Is odd that it seems to plan to fail like that. How often does it not clear the brakes really? Can't be that much of a regular occurrence. With the pre lift section I guess it would be technically possible to run NI on three trains with insanely efficient staff (and riders)? Not realistic, I know, but possible.
-
And not even overly confident of getting you on before park opening? Really cutting it fine, surely it would have been better to have the opening day in a week or so and soft open now as and when possible.

As we know Chessington have stripped this right back ready for redevelopment and invited ideas to be submitted by visitors. I don't like just linking out to other sites, but for those not on TS these have to be shared. Firstly my personal favourite from ElectricBill... http://www.towersstreet.com/talk/merlin-parks-and-attractions/chessington-world-of-adventures-resort/msg70232/#msg70232 And another mighty impressive one from CGM... http://www.towersstreet.com/talk/merlin-parks-and-attractions/chessington-world-of-adventures-resort/msg71609/#msg71609 I have pretty much no idea where you'd even start to come up designs of this quality, I do hope Chessington take these ideas at least a little seriously and incorporate elements into the final build. Anyone here come up anything they'd like to share?

Thanks for sharing that, it really does look like they are cutting it fine even with all the extensions they've had!
