I don't know when that was taken and it was today for all I know, but I was under the impression the station building had progressed more than that now?
  2. That is excellent. I might just go again!
  3. Yes! I think that when ever I see the DLRP adverts using Kaa that have been on recently.
  4. I've thought about it. I'm still right, as you agreed! In no circumstance would it be the fault of health and safety, they are merely the monitors. It's like saying it is the polices fault you haven't got a driving licence because they caught you drink driving. Anyway, in this case from that photo it appears the tunnel remains. Hurrah!
  5. No it can not. Health and safety provides a list of criteria which the park must fulfil to operate safely. If the park can't fulfil that criteria it is the parks fault, not health and safety.

I'm going to guess that with the no doubt substantial costs involved of having a bunch of Germans standing about looking at the snow they've sent them all home to return when they've had chance to fully complete the ground work?

Because what you are saying is the ride could not have a fatal (to the ride) accident or failure at any time and as a result be closed forever, when it most certainly could. As could anything else. I think you are misunderstanding what I / most are saying, which is not that it will be removed, but that it could be, and every time it fails that likelihood increases a little. I wouldn't be shocked if it is still slamming 10 years from now, I would be pleased if it was, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it never opened again!
  8. H&S can not stop anything. Poor design, build or maintenance could mean it is not safe to operate, but that is not because of H&S, it is because of park operations. Identifying a hazard and making it safe is one thing, removing everything they can not be bothered to maintain to an acceptable standard is another. In this case if the rocks were unsafe there were two clear options - repair/replace the rocks or remove the rocks. They made the easy and cheap (but wrong) choice, and now it looks crap. Everything is potentially hazardous, nothing is without risk. With your thinking we wouldn't build a theme park in the first place, just in case.
  9. Right, as this conversation refuses to die I've split it off from Loggers Leap topic. I've done the best I can to move posts that leave both threads making sense and relevant. Hard hats on, this thread could be dangerous apparently......

Highly unlikely, but possible. In that case would be most likely a natural disaster or massive land movement, but there is certainly an amount of damage that would make it not viable to repair. and whoever thinks that does not understand much. Sorry to be rude, but if everything was foreseeable and maintainable then nothing would ever go wrong ever, but it does.

    Logger's Leap

Absolute tosh. It looks shocking now, it is much much worse than it was. I'm sure Chessington management aren't going to openly admit it, but that is a fact.

Am I missing some sarcasm, or are you very very strange / partially sighted?

Again, it is not universally loved but people aren't generally saying they want it to close, why do you think it would be bad news? And it is not news at all, they've put the effort in to keep it going, which is great, but it could die forever tomorrow. As could any ride, anywhere.
  14. I can't think of much worse than any all you can eat lunch at a theme park. Last thing I want is an uncomfortably full feeling before strapping myself into something fast and twisty and I see a buffet as a value challenge. I did have the Pizza Pasta buffet at AT once and thought it was acceptable at best. Quality eateries, like actual restaurants, are severely lacking throughout Merlin. Kind of understandable when they shut their parks so damn early so are covering lunch times only, but still. That's what I want.

Some people don't like the ride, whether it is working or not, which can be said of any ride anywhere. I don't think there is/was a craze of people saying they want it to be removed or even that it should be removed, just that it is feasible that it could be. And it remains feasible that it will go some time relatively soon. Age does not come into it in the slightest, only money does. All the time it is economically viable they will fix it they will, when that is no longer the case they won't. It is that simple. With factors such as S+S parts no longer being available and major/structural parts failing no one can tell when that will be, it could be opening day this season. I think they might have had a bit of gamblers run with the spending already, chasing their previous investments - 'we've spent £x before, so we may as well spend the extra £x now to make the previous spend worthwhile', and so on. At some point they will draw a line under it and decide the next big bill isn't worth while, when that will be no one can no, because no one knows when it will next fail.
  16. Very unnecessary. It most certainly is unusual to have such a perfectly preserved façade remaining under a newer one like that. It almost looks like when they have constructed the newer one they have done it in such a way to deliberately preserve the old, so it could have been bought back if they fancy. I love it, leave it as it is now!
  17. I can now release details of me not going to Chessington at Halloween then!

They did a couple of the cars last year (or maybe the year before?), which was nice but it just made the old knackered ones look even worse! Hopefully they'll referb the rest as part of this.
  19. Selling them on is against the rules, they have no cash value. I think they trawl ebay and remove sales/invalidate tickets. They are much less likely to notice you selling them in the local press, but it is still against the rules so a risk!! With the offers before I have collected the tokens at the same time as a couple of family members at different addresses and synchronised the sending off of the envelopes to exactly the same time and place with the same date band selections. Nearly always I have received 4 or 6 tickets for the same date, so that is defiantly worth a try if you want to go in a bigger group.

Feared? It will always be a massive improvement when they bring a coaster back up to the standard it once was and something people like us have been calling for for years. It is going to look superb, as it was designed to. What was you fearing?
  21. I need it. Makes me feel dirty, buying The Sun. But it really is a good offer, I've used the Thorpe and Alton ones many times, and a couple of times I've even got off peak scarefest tickets. Not sure I've ever seen it run for Chessington before?

I would guess at nothing of that size, would be good if it was but I doubt it. £4m over that many rides, including themeing/landscaping etc, buys you not much.
  23. This is actually fairly old, not from this Jan, don't no exactly when though. Weird looking ride that, anyone recognise it? Also, imagine having to die to that awful music.
