  1. When our GCSE results came out they were all just printed and stuck to the wall by subject, you had to go round to each of your subjucts and find your name on a list of everyone. Grades are there to grade you, that is to rank you against others. It's right they are known otherwise they are meaningless. Competition is healthy, and if you left school with out having experienced this sort of thing they wouldn't be preparing you for the real world. You're going to spend your whole life being judged in one way or another, you may as well get used to it now on things like this that really (you will realise one day) do not matter, rather than those feelings being a surprise when you are an adult.
  2. I don't much care what it is inside, it just shouldn't be there looking all ugly and temporary as a permanent eyesore.
  3. This non story is currently most viewed on bbc. At least that article is accurate I suppose, not that it should exist at all.
  4. One of my favouritea so far. Apparently in Orlando The Smiler is like Dragon Challenge? Yeah, it's just like that! It's almost like they make this stuff up and don't know what they're talking about.
  5. But aren't you quite heavily tethered with the wiring?
  6. Sorry to hear that. If you feel you have an issue with certain member(s), or are receiving some sort of unfair treatment, can I ask that you let us know in some way instead of letting it build up? You can report any content with the little button on a post, or just send any of us a PM and we'll be happy to look at things for you. I can't say I've seen anything particularly strong of out of order aimed at you, but then there's a lot of posts from a lot of people on here so it won't always get noticed unless you tell us. On the other hand it could be you're being a little over sensitive, so maybe a little break would be a good thing? It's hard to tell without any specifics. Hope you're back with a 'Hola' soon.

That's what I was thinking Josh. Doubt it gets used all that much, but think it should be there somewhere.

Thanks to JamminGamer, Ol' monkey face is BACK! I like the new version BTW. A slightly darker background to give a little bit of distinction to the start and end of individual posts would probably be an improvement. And there doesn't seem to be a link back to the main site anywhere, unless I'm being dumb? Also, I know this was something discussed recently without resolution, but think the more modern look of the forum makes the logo stand out as a bit dated
  9. It shouldn't be SBNO or a museum. It was a charming little thing and exactly the sort of heritage they should be saving, not destroying.

I know! The pic is lost in an unknown avatar site I can not recall which is apparently no longer compatible wit TPM. On the plus side, my current 'normal' face is fairly monkey-like anyway.
  11. "But she is prepared to spill the beans on her hopes of opening a museum at the Pleasure Beach one day. “I want to turn Noah’s Ark into a heritage museum. We have such a lovely archive here, with designs of rides, photographs, pictures of the designs for the first ice show."" So she wants to destroy one of the most historic little attractions on site...to celebrate their historic attractions? Well done her.
  12. I don't think there is any maximum length limitation in terms of planning, only a self imposed one they quote in the mtdp which is more of an expectation management thing that they can choose to change if they wish. More of a consideration is height, with the airport and residential areas nearby.
  13. Does anyone really expect anything other than a shambles? It's all just a little bit of history repeating.
  14. Those pandas seem to have gone down well. hope they are able to keep it consistent enough for aN attraction like this, and you don't miss out if the guy happens to have gone oN a fag break.

    Paultons Park

I couldn't make the dates sadly, so took season long open tickets instead.
  16. Where'd you get that little nugget from?! 20mph may be unenforced, and to an extent unenforceable, but this is due to fairly complex legal issues around how they have been introduced. Not dodgy speed guns. Whole thing's a farce really. 30mph is a perfectly acceptable standard residential limit. The effort should go in to enforcing this, not slinging more and more restrictions on everything with no means or inclination to enforce them. A bit of paint and a sign is not going to stop the idiot who will drive up it at 50 regardless of what limit is posted, and those are drivers that are the problem.

    The News

Don't forget the last PG Tips chimp who passed away yesterday too. Where will it end?!
  18. Midnight - 00:00. This is the first moment of the new day, when the clock restarts. Midnight on the 19th has already been. Not that Thorpe anyone uses is like that, but it is correct. Another, less tedious, observation. There seems to be a lot less BOGOFs stuck to packaging this year? Usually you can't move around Sainsburys without seeing them, but I don't think I've come across one yet this year.
  19. I thought the preview was confirmed as cancelled a few pages back? I wasn't paying attention though as I don't have a MAP.
  20. What the hell is that all about?

    Th13teen

It's the Hex effect, I could sit on Hex all day watching the wonder on the faces of first time riders, It's just a joy. Or at least I could do that if Towers bothered opening it. Th13teen does have a similar surprise about it, but it's much harder to watch and enjoy others reactions being sat in a train. Although I enjoy it, what bothers me about it is how much of a missed opportunity the whole experience is; the outside section is simply dire with the trims killing any hint of thrill the original had (lols at this being spun as a positive by making it a surprise that the second half is actually any good at all), and the crypt 'show room' lacking any sort of show, That backwards chase could be spectacular with some fairly simple lighting and effects, but instead it just sort of happens in a static lightly dressed room with no rhyme or reason. The whole thing could have and should have been so much more. It's a technological marvel, they nailed the tricky bit, but the relatively simple and cheap theatrical bit they didn't even bother with in any meaningful sense, Such a shame.
  22. I don't know that I ever really been scared to ride a coaster, a little excited nervousness maybe for anything new, but even as a youngster I had an understanding that there is nothing to be actually scared of and that I was safe going on a ride, or it wouldn't be open. I've always advised people who are scared of an aspect of rides to go on the most extreme example first, which will inevitably prove to be not as bad as they first feared, then that shouldn't be scared of 'lesser' examples. If I'm with someone who is scared I will generally trick them on to the worst, then when they've done it tell them they've already done the worst so there's nothing else to worry about. Works a treat! One exception to this would be inversions. Both Smiler and Colossus would be the most extreme variant at their respective parks, but I think these should both be something to work up to if you are that concerned about inverting; both go on for a relatively long time if you don't like it, both can be quite rough compared to other rides, and with Colossus especially the types of inversion are quit extreme, with the run of consecutive rolls taken unusually slowly leaving you hanging and quite disorientated as they go on and on. But really, there is nothing at all to be worried about, so like everything in life that isn't likely to kill you, just do it. Try it once and if you don't like it then don't do it again. Simple!
