  1. They already have one (woodland walk), but this seems like an unusual style of restaurant for day use only. It sounds well suited to evening meals and isn't consistent with their other on park eateries, I won't be at all surprised to see access to this made possible after park closing.
  2. As it stands I'm due at work at 06.00 the following morning. Photo evidence from previous MoS suggests I might not be much use at that time... ...if I can book it off I'll be there...
  3. Looks good. The positioning of it right up that end of the park near the hotels makes me wonder if this is the first signs of a shift of the entrance, to allow for restaurants and entertainment venues guests can access in the evening, while still being on the park for easy day time use.
  4. I'm sure that'll be very helpful info for some, thanks for sharing!
  5. Great vid, looks like a great time was had. Shame I couldn't make it in the end. One day I'll make it to a Chessie meet, one day...
  6. This keeps getting brought up as a reason that WC16 can not be Dr Who (or any other BBC IP for that matter), but I have a few issues with it: - WC16 was well down the planning route before the Paramount announcement was made. In fact they had already broken ground, if any IP deal is part of this that would be so pivital to the success of the development you can bet your life it was all signed up by this point. - The Paramount deal is just a 'development agreement', not a contract, and described as a "first step towards a formal partnership between the corporation and the resort". Not exactly set in stone. - The purpose of the BBC deal and announcement of it from Paramount at this stage is clearly to attract investors and help bring legitimacy to their plans, so they would be pushing it for all it's worth. Yet they don't mention or claim any sort of exclusivity of the IP use, something they clearly would if they could as that adds a hell of a lot of value to their proposals. From that it seems that for now at least there is nothing to preclude BBC licencing IPs elsewhere to other parks and attractions. - I have no idea where this concept of the BBC putting millions in to Paramount park has come from? Happy to stand corrected but I've seen no news reports suggesting this is the case. BBC World Wide (the BBC commercial arm) would be looking to take money from the park, not put money into it! Effectively selling their brands for cash, they'll want it to be a success for the potential income I'm sure, but ultimately if they can get licencing money sooner and with more certainty from elsewhere I'm sure they will. I don't profess to know anything about what is happening, but Dr Who was a strong rumour from the off, from a number of people some of whom are often reliable. Whether it is or not, discounting it entirely because of this Paramount business seems a bit misguided to me at the moment. We all know how Varney works when signing of big developments, I can't think of a way they would have got a big dark ride passed him without a big IP to promote it with, so which one if not this? I'd be pretty surprised if that recently registered London something or other mark was for this project
  7. Split off the conversation for whatever is coming after WC16 to here. So the conversation on this threat can continue about why this isn't Dr Who, until they announce Dr Who. I jest, I have no idea.
  8. Split from WC16, for a look into the distant unknowable future...

    EDIT - EMBED, DAMN YOU!!!
  10. And suddenly a stay in the 'hotel' seems worth while. Is this continuing?
  11. Although that area would be ideal it would also necessitate the closure of stealth, which wouldn't go down well I'd imagine. The lost city flats on the other hand can close for the last few hours without anyone caring much.
  12. I doubt it. I'd say a small heritage park is likely to see a boost with people interested in parks drawn to the area.

    London Eye

They are paying nearly £2 ph more than the minimum wage, good on em. If they needed to pay more get decent staff they would. If the staff wanted better paying jobs there's plenty of them out there, if it wasn't enough they'd have no staff. Not worth a fuss really.

    Jokes

So upset, a good friend of mine died of heartburn yesterday, can't believe gavisgone.
  15. Listen very carefully to a pov of the Arthur ride...
  16. I think the point is Merlin don't have much of a fan base, which is why they have to 'buy' return visits by promoting poorly implemented new attractions with over hype. To an extent it works. We have no idea on Paramounts approach yet.
  17. Is that not what this is then? That's how it reads. Yes, that's the one.
  18. Presumably then, Merlin aren't in it to make money? Why are we thinking this new place would use the same logic in a different way? Don't get me wrong, I think it will be great for the UK industry to have some serious competition to Merlin, but there is nothing like enough known yet to have any idea what approach they will take to empty our pockets.
  19. Surely the park won't be closing at 16.00 for the day guests though? So it sounds to me like we are going for a straight 10.00 - 22.00 opening with an evening ticket available. That's surely going to make the evenings substantially busier, but I think is a much better way of running the event and pushing the boundaries out of our historically restricted opening times. If they can make this work I can see it boding well for extended opening times in general. As for the concert, I would imagine the lost city flats will be closed during the evening, so the entrance to the stage area can be sufficiently far away to make the ticket worth while. Shame they didn't use the spare island.
  20. Wow, that's gonna be one hell of a head chopper there! If anyone earnestly tells me it won't be there when the ride opens I will ban you... It looks to me like they have entirely rebuilt the scenic, I thought there were sections that were relatively intact? I've not seen anything other than brand new wood. Can't wait to get on it either way. They're also prepping for other irdes arrival, this is for a caterpillar... Such great simple fun rides. Big throughputs too. Why the hell do modern parks not value filler attractions? Not everything has to be modern to be exciting and enjoyable.
  21. Universals on technology was itself developed with outside companies, largely by Oceaneering International, who now offer a very similar product independently. That would be my favourite manafacturer, Oceaneering hardware is the closest we could possibly get to something like Spiderman.
  22. In terms of artists I was expecting worse. Not really for me, but I can see it being popular. I'm sure getting the likes of Rizzle Kicks doesn't come that cheap, why can't they find a penny of budget for regular average day in park entertainment then?
  23. That opinion is not unexpected! If most people think that then so be it. I think the current one looks a bit dated and childish somehow. I also think it doesn't work well on things like photo watermarks, That's not to say the suggested ones are right either. I think 2 is the best of the suggestions by far! I know some efforts to get the wording in didn't work, how about something like this where the shape of the T in the top left is reflected in the text on the bottom right? Excuse my 2 minutes in paint!
  24. I'm really hoping that should be reserve and they haven't done a Swarm on it!
