  1. That's a great total, so that must have cost thirteen pence a ride?
  2. Nicely written, well done. Not being one for cities or shopping, I made my main visit in Manhattan the Intrepid museum which is an aircraft carrier, on which there is an aircraft collection, a space shuttle, and then on the dock a Concorde and a submarine beside. I too went to the Grand Central Station to marvel at the architecture beneath.

You have just made a lot of people jealous with that posting.
  4. Ah, must feed that wonderful singing voice!

Ah, I know I will have to wait to see what happens when I visit, but I get annoyed if there's only one person in front of me, it really winds me up a treat when we are then overtaken by others, for whatever reason.
  6. There's no time to eat, not in three hours, surely?

For me it's three weeks until I will be there, looking forward to it again.
  8. Once it got darker though the flies started to challenge my eyeballs, especially on Colossus.

Each to their own, and I do think as we are built differently, it's not always the same for everybody. I love the front, but I will plump for the back if not there.
  10. Good report, thanks for taking the time to write it up.
  11. Yes, I too attended this evening, having had my day at Farnborough. As Jamie said, no waiting and three hours in the park.................... and yes I did leave Stealth. RIDECOUNT: Stealth x17 Nemesis Inferno x3 The Swarm x2 Saw x2 Colossus x3 Total rides 27 Time lost due to one breakdown and one phone retrieval.
  12. Interesting write-up, I wonder if the brands of root-beer vary, as the one I found was drinkable? Enjoy your time and thanks for the updates.
  13. I'm glad you have now ridden it and that you enjoyed it. Now you have an excuse to try the others out, to see how they compare. Megaphobia at Oakwood is probably the best woodie we have in the United Kingdom but those at BPB are brilliant, they each have their own feel.
  14. Had the same thought, but for me it would be Rip Ride Rocket!
  15. Yesterday, I.e. Sunday..... Now I know why I have always avoided going to TP on a Sunday. Bad news for me, Stealth did not open; Slammer did not operate, something to do with the P.A. not working; Two early rides on Nemesis Inferno before the queues quickly got to beyond 45 minutes; Colossus far too busy; I actually like the latest lighting effects in X; the Angry Birds dodgems finally got a test by me and they are pretty good, "nice and clean since the rains", really, they are still clean at the moment. Then, I left the park by one oclock, it was really busy and as many coaches as on a weekday.
  16. Ah, a woman after my own airtime..... having ridden Kingda Ka now, it proved that Stealth is smoother and provides more airtime. Sadly, today, not working at all.
  17. Wooden Warrior at Quassy is a fantastic ride in a quite small area; the park is a very good family park with loads more of the conventional fairground type amusements, we did that on the same day.

Will be there in five weeks. Love Drenched (as well as Tidal Wave) in the right weather, which is hot and drying weather, though I was able to pop off and get dried and changed afterwards. I know there have been discussions before, but I would love to ride it earlier in the day. Megaphobia is fantastic and it is interesting to see how the speed varies during a day.
  19. Nice little vid., where do you get those sound effects of somoene being terrified of every movement of the ride? Perhaps an opening shot of the ride/name entrance fading into the ride would enhance it. Nicely.
  20. It is a brilliant coaster and the park is nicely run. Most of the rides are the older style fairground rides and the strangest chair-o-planes I've ever been on, called "YoYo" and they do.
  21. From my experience, which is on the customer side, if batched properly, it works, if not anticipated, but assessed once the ride is loaded then it will delay. Not sure where is meant that "guests jump queues on Oblivion single riders line"? I thought it ran up to the top and one had to wait, there was a chain across the entrance?
  22. A sweeping statement; if used properly in batching, prior to loading then the load will be full, not if used to hold a train to try and fill a single empty seat. As previously said, some rides cannot accommodate SRQ's, and on some rides, it doesn't actually exist until one is at the platform, and I'm not citing any rides at Thorpe.
  23. Then while you are at Lake Compounce they have another great woodie, Wildcat, well worth a ride.
  24. A surprise recently when I got the chance to ride the Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce. Always had wanted this and suddenly, there I was. This is a brilliant wooden roller coaster that ascends a climb hill through trees across boulder strewn terrain, to then descend around the wooded hill then hug it's contours. Racing between the trees, and bobbing around corners reaching speeds of 60mph. Great airtime and with speed at low level it creates a fantastic ride. Hope I'm allowed to post this link?
  25. If you ever get a chance. This is a very small family park in Connecticut, North America, with a great water park and lake, but a fabulous woodie named Wooden Warrior. This has a very small footprint, only cost one million dollars and is a fabulous wooden roller coaster. http://www.wfsb.com/video?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=10278178
