  1. Doubt it, more than likely it was just a typo. As nice as new restraints would be the chances seem minuscule to me - I'm sure there are other things they are more worried about first.
  2. I just came across this. It seems Merlin are putting planning application for something new to go into County Hall and what a surprise it's a worlds first http://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/7323
  3. First meet I'm going to yay . I'd be up for it and can make all of the dates at the moment. Really looking forward to this .
  4. Detonator (4) Nemesis Inferno (8) Slammer (7) Stealth (2) X (4) Detonator + Stealth -
  5. Detonator (5) Nemesis Inferno (5) Quantum (4) Rush (6) Slammer (5) Stealth (7) Tidal Wave (4) X (6) Quantum + Stealth -
  6. Worst Coaster: Roller Coaster at Wicksteed Park - due to being fairly tall the restraints gave my shoulders a death grip and the track layout itself isn't very good either as the bottom of the drops are very sudden and jolty which presses the restraint further in to your shoulders. It's a Pinfari though so I guess that explains it. Worst Flat: Dragons Claw at Adventure Island - I don't know whether it's just me but I found that I started to get head aches from being put upside down for too long and the overall ride just felt un-natural and painful.
  7. Detonator (5) Loggers Leap (3) Nemesis Inferno (6) Quantum (6) Rush (5) Slammer (7) Stealth (4) Tidal Wave (5) X (4) Quantum + Loggers Leap -
  8. At least they're trying to use Facebook and other social networks for PR though seeming that other Merlin parks only seem to use them when they're vitally needed like if there's an event at the park that forces it to close or whatever. Have to agree though, I think they need to lay off the slang phrases as looking at the comments on that post on Thorpe's Facebook page it crashed and burned.
  9. Hopefully this season will be one where I go to less smaller parks and try and get to Alton,Thorpe and my first meet this season seeming its something I've been wanting to do for a while. Fingers crossed for my first fright nights this year as well so it could be a very good and promising season. Definitely: Thorpe Park Pleasurewood Hills Adventure Island Maybe: Alton Towers Pleasure Beach Blackpool Chessington Unlikely at the moment: Legoland Oakwood Drayton Manor
  10. I don't think it's been mentioned yet so as some people know there's the world's longest Inverted coaster opening in the former Son of Beast area of Kings Island called Banshee. I'm reasonably looking forward to seeing the end result (not that I'll get to ride it in the near future though) to see whether it is a regular plain American coaster with little theming or whether they actually try to make the area spooky and like the concept images and videos. 11. As much as I think the VIP Pass is a good idea, I have no idea howt they are going to be able to market it successfully enough to make it worthwhile. Also I don't like the idea of them taking perks from other passes to form the new one but I admit the global entry would be good for a few. If they can somehow successfully market this (a change that no one was particularly demanding or wanting) then there should be no excuse for them not being able to market a wooden coaster which there is huge demand for and 90% of people would use. I remember when my parents would be able to take me to Chessington and get us all in paying the full gate price of £50 for all 3 of us and now the prices have resulted in these extortionate amounts that we see today
  12. I just found some footage shot by CoasterForce of the "World's Oldest Operating Steel Coaster" and wow, it even further proves the point that an attraction doesn't have to have a 'highest' or 'fastest' or 'loopiest' record attached to it for it to be a good ride. I just thought that there should be a topic where people could share rides like these that are brilliant but not massive or well known attractions. Enjoy
  13. There's generally always at least one log on those bars and it sometimes changes from my observations. I gathered that it's like a holding area where they put any logs that they don't need or require maintenance.
  14. Any animals near the site have been evacuated to a safe place according to UK Theme Parks - Theme UK
  15. All roads around Chessington have now been re-opened and the London Fire Brigade have said that the park was not open to the public at the time and no one is believed to be injured (Information from UK Theme Parks - Theme UK Facebook page). Well it's a relief that no-one was injured. So that's another bad PR thing for Chessington now, we can only hope that they have a much better 2014 season for PR
  16. I have to admit though, their description of Scorpian Express makes it sound really good and I hope it lives up to the description and not a rushed job and who knows it could turn out to be better than we all thought and better than the original Runaway Train
  17. I believe it was a park in Israel according to something that I read a while back but I don't know anything more on it as it's still sat there in the park
  18. Unfortunately by the looks of it, that's the same that they had a few years back, nonetheless it is great to finally see Pleasurewood invest in another coaster. It is a shame that Pleasurewood lost the bid for Knightmare from Camelot as I guess that would have been the new one so this is a good improvisation from the park though and I'm sure it'll bring in more families for the park which is exactly what they need. Have to admit though, after Hobbs Pit and the refurbs, returns and other new rides like Jolly Roger it shows that they are really trying to be up in the big leagues with the investment and PR side of things. Hopefully they'll keep this up for a small regional park they're doing very well
  19. Colossus (5) Depth Charge (5) Detonator (6) Loggers Leap (5) Nemesis Inferno (5) Quantum (5) Rocky Express (4) Rush (5) Samurai (5) SAW: The Ride (5) Slammer (5) Stealth (5) Swarm (5) Tidal Wave (5) X (5) Detonator + Rocky Express -
  20. That seems like a good idea with quite a bit of potential, especially with Runaway Train. Can't really see it so much with Market Square but I don't think it's impossible. Also they already have Wild Asia which is themed quite similar to an extent and as Pluk said there would be a lot of work to make it work
  21. Wouldnt engineering count as permanent though seeming that you would have closed season maintenance to do as well as seasonal maintenance
  22. It does seem strange with there being Topscans and Sky Swats etc. but if anything I agree with you on that one
  23. Might be something to do with weight, if it gets to heavy then maybe it wont make it over the top? Just a guess
  24. Kicked out? As in kicked out from the park or the ride for the day?
  25. Somehow I highly doubt all of that will happen over one closed season but we can dream I suppose. But take into consideration they only managed to do 3 things last closed season and that was Swarm Backwards, X re-theme and giving Inferno steroids. But surely this year they'll give Colossus a repaint, it's starting to have the track colour and rust levels of some of the neglected Chinese coasters, new entrance (something like the new Cedar Point one would be nice) and a top spin free park
