Okay, I'll just scream then 🤨

Not forgetting if you feel ill at the park then almost certainly you were already ill when you arrived.

Staff doing restraint checks will have already been less than 1 metre away from you and not forgetting everyone else in a queue line

We ask all our guests to observe high standards of personal hygiene whilst visiting Thorpe Park Resort. There are simple things you can do to help prevent the spread of the virus, including:

    • Covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
    • Putting used tissues in the bin immediately
    • Washing your hands with soap and hot water regularly, and using hand sanitiser gel
    • Trying to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
    • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

Throughout Thorpe Park Resort, we have placed additional hand sanitisers in convenient locations for guests, and we politely ask that you use them regularly.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

  3. An incident at the water park today. Firefighters & ambulances on site due to guests & staff feeling ill.

Most likely caused by poor water management but not good pr for the park before the start of the season.

Alton Towers Waterpark was closed after dozens of visitors complained of irritation to their eyes and throats.

Paramedics, firefighters and police were sent to the Staffordshire theme park after 39 people - including six children - were affected, a spokesman said.

An air ambulance was also sent, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

The 33 adults and children were assessed and later discharged with no treatment required, crews said.

A spokesman for the park said: "At around [13:00 GMT] today we took the decision to close the Waterpark after a small number of people reported irritation of the eyes and throat.

Of course parks exaggerate, but to claim that Creek Freak Massacre is the most intense horror maze in the event's history is an incredibly bold claim and there is no room for interpreting it differently (unlike many of their claims) - they have literally said that they guarantee 100% that the new maze is the most intense one they have ever done.

Whilst I didn't personally expect it to be my favourite ever Thorpe maze, ultimately the way it has been sold by the park is a significant contributing factor to my review of the maze.  It's fun but it does not deliver what Thorpe promised.

Pretty much like how they set Walking Dead ride up to fail by claiming it was “15 out of 10 on the scare scale” and “the world’s scariest ride” if the parks exaggerated less then people wouldn’t have such high expectations...

  5. I wonder if the added actor is to delay your arrival to vault? Are they having issues with the ride again which is causing a delay and instead of having guests waiting at the doors they are playing on it so you don’t realise there is an issue?

  6. 'Jobsworth' Alton Towers employee desperately tries to stop customer filming their £30 ride photo’

A theme park employee has been labelled a 'jobsworth' after desperately trying to stop a customer from filming his ride picture in a bid to escape payment.

The confrontation is believed to have taken place at Alton Towers, Staffordshire, which charges £30 on top of its £56 entry fee to download ride photos.

But one cheeky customer - on what is thought to be the Nemesis ride - decided to try filming the board of ride photographs so he did not have to pay.

Ordinarily, customers have to pay on top of their entrance fee for a printed photograph from the ride or for a digital download.

When approached for comment, a spokeswoman for Alton Towers said: 'A visit to Alton Towers is all about families and friends making happy memories and for many guests their 'on-ride' photo is a great souvenir of their day.

'Our display screens are there so guests can review their on-ride photos and several images are usually displayed which can show guests of all ages, including children.

'We ask guests not to film or photograph the screens to protect the privacy all the guests on display.

'In this instance, the member of staff had explained this and repeatedly asked the individual not to film the display.

'We have spoken to our teams to remind them of the reason for our policy, and would ask our guests please to respect staff requests not to film and the privacy of other visitors.'

There are a number of options available to customers at Alton Towers when it comes to photographs of their outing. These include printed images, key rings and even digital downloads.

  7. BBC reporting Merlin have accepted a £4.8bn offer.

Legoland and Madame Tussauds waxworks owner Merlin Entertainments has accepted a £4.8bn offer for the firm.

A group of investors, led by the Danish billionaire family which controls the separate toy firm Lego, has made the approach alongside a group of other private investors.

Kirkbi Invest says it has the money and experience to "realise the company's potential to grow".

Merlin also owns the London Eye and Alton Towers.

  8. Lego family's Kirkbi and Blackstone to buy Madame Tussauds owner Merlin: FT

(Reuters) - Britain’s Merlin Entertainments Plc (MERL.L) is to be acquired for 6 billion pounds ($7.6 billion), including debt, by a group made up of Kirkbi, the investment vehicle of Lego’s founding family, private equity firm Blackstone Group LP (BX.N) and Canadian pension fund CPPIB, the Financial Times reported on Friday.

The deal to buy Merlin, which owns and operates Madame Tussauds waxworks exhibits around the world, is expected to be announced as soon as Friday morning, but no deal was guaranteed until the announcement, the FT said on.ft.com/2X9zLxD, citing multiple people it said were close to the matter.

The deal is likely to value Merlin’s shares at around 460 pence, one of the people told the FT, giving it an equity value of more than 4.73 billion pounds.

Anyone heard anything about what is up with Wicker Man, being down the last few days. I’m visiting Tues-Thurs this week and would be gutted if it’s closed all 3 days.

Awaiting a replacement part, rumour is down for two weeks unfortunately

I just saw the stargazing pods for the first time and I couldn't help but laugh.

How are they stargazing pods when the ceiling is completely solid with no glass? You're paying to stay in a utility shed with no toilet.

Why do they keep wasting money on this pointless accommodation instead on spending it on the park?

Because Varney is desperate to get to the 1000 rooms, that’s all the sheds are for a tick box for shareholders.

The Flambards article was a bit... strange really... It's not like they hadn't done something and the point is well made that to get a completely unique system isn't always cost effective for smaller companies to supply for the one person who visits who needs it...

Unfortunately, there's still so many steps to be made for companies to comply, and cost, time and space is a big factor in all of this...

Dread to think how bad Chessie is for it...

Old thread I know but only appropriate place to post given it’s a relatively small park with no thread of its own.

But Flambards have fortunately had the case thrown out as they had made significant improvements and they were even acknowledged by the boy’s legal team. Basically this case was wrong they only attempted to further it because it was “no win, no fee” but now it’s costing them thousands.

spokesperson for Flambards said: “We have invested significant sums in facilities for our guests, including spending on enhanced toilet facilities for visitors who face the same sort of challenges with dressing, changing and toileting as Adam.

“We were therefore saddened and disappointed when we received a claim for compensation from Adam who is we know represented by solicitors who specialize in acting for disabled claimants under ‘no win no fee’ agreements.

“We were certain that we had taken all the steps we could both to provide visitors with proper facilities and also to comply with the law, and it was frustrating to see that we were going to have to defend a claim for damages as well.

“Of course, every pound which we spend on damages and on legal fees is a pound which is not available for us to spend on better facilities for our visitors.”

Funny how so many can join a cattle pen queue this long to get a RAP but can't wait 5 minutes for Flying Fish...

Unfortunately until Merlin get tough on just who is eligible for RAP this is how it’s always going to be.

I assume they are too worried about getting Daily Mail stories such as “Merlin said I wasn’t disabled enough anymore”
