  4. Thanks for all the replies guys, very informative!
  5. Just booked my summer trip to Alton for August 7th for 3 nights at a local B&B. Really exicted just got a couple of questions...1) Can you eat in the resort hotels if you are not a guest?2) If so then is it worth it and do you get annual pass discount?3) Do you get AP discount on golf and the waterpark?4) In alton village itself, is there anywhere worth checking out food wise, and is there a local shop for basic food like crisps etc....?Many thanks.
  6. I have never heard back from them when I went for my interview in early May. I emailed them with no reply. They are a waste of space.
  7. Thanks once again for the positive feeback guys! I might well do Sheepie, especailly after the great reviews of the last meet!
  8. Continued!Another one of my favorites. Just about time to fit in some Black Buccaneer. Vampire again. And a last ride on Rattlesnake just before the queue closed. A great day. I'll leave you with my best of the day. Thanks for reading, well done if you made it through! More to come this summer if you can cope!
  9. Continued!Didn't bother with Kobra. Good addition to the park though. FURY TIME! It is hard to choose between this and Saw for my favorite Surrey ride. Into the Immelmen. Simply brilliant. This ride is great fun. It is the perfect family attraction. Suitable for such a wide target audience. Lunch time. Lovely as always, especially the pasta. It was AMAZING to chill outside in such a nice environment. Go Chessie! This is what I love about the park. OPEN SPACE. Especially when the weather was as hot as it was. Didn't have time for Safari!Mis-timed sealion shot!I hardly ever check out the zoo. It really is fantastic. A lovely place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main park. Meerkat's know what to do in this weather! One of the best shots of the day. More open space!I don't think I have posted enough dragon falls pictures yet! Some great views from Peeking Heights. Wall to wall blue skies and Chessington goodness = win. I like my camera's zoom. And again. Fury's first MCBR. Rameses was really refreshing, but intense at the same time! Our Tomb blaster scores (I got 19600). Not bad I suppose but room for improvement!Fury's sexy little immelmen. Through the trees!Incident alert! We heard a big boom from outside the Chessington Shop and a LOAD of staff running towards the Aqua Adventures. It had collapsed with Children still in the balls! Dads rushed to help and first aid were quickly on site. Here it is shortly after the accident.
  10. Right. After last week's fun at Thorpe Park, It was time for a change this weekend. Time for the first CWOA visit of the year. I have always had a soft spot for this park, but today it really did show me that it is a fantastic, top class theme park. Depsite the AMAZING weather the park managed to keep queue times to a minimum with only fury peaking at 50 minutes. Managed to get pretty much all major rides done, however there were still areas of the park I wanted to explore. I was longing for more, more sun, more animals, more rides. And that was what was missing from my Thorpe Park trip. Everything was done, it was either more rides or home. Chessington offers a much more rounded experience with a variety of attractions and the opition of the sea life centre or zoo. That to me makes it a much more enjoyable experience. The staff were happy and helpful and downtime was minimal. I believe that attractions such as Vampire and Fury provide the 'fun' factor that some of Thorpe attractions miss out on. We were not even trying ride wise and spent a good 30/45 minutes in lorikeet lagoon. This is really one of my favourite attractions, the interactivity with all age groups and the beauty of the birds is just stunning. So overall, Chessington is brilliant. I should and will visit more this season. I will let the photos/captions do the rest of the talking. Until next time...http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac333/jackhoneywell/P1010198.jpgWe have arrived!Car park was fairly full on arrival. Of course, first ride was the mighty Vampire. It was already low/mid twenties by 10.15!Swinging through the trees. Still one of my favorite rides. It is a classic.Arty shot. Worked out pretty well methinks. ZOOM. We waited around 25 minutes. Worth every second. It was pretty hot already. That meant it was time for Rameses. We got stuck on the first cycle for a few minutes, but got two more! After that it was time for another one of my favorites. Tomb Blaster. ORP, didn't pay for one sorry Merlin! :$ Dragon falls simply brilliant. The setting, the theming the landscaping is just wonderful. If only they could sort out that tall section before the drop. Me and my friend took our tops of too cool down (sorry everyone that was on park that day! tehe ) but were told over the PA to put them back on before the main drop! The main drop isn't that wet, although it looks soaking. Arty. Yes, if you were wondering this is a how many pictures of dragon falls can you get competition O.K! Nicely repainted dragon. Time for the lagoon. I was really pleased with this shot, seem to be getting a bit better with the new camera. Thirsty! The nectar was going down well!Ducks just chillin'.Me chillin' with the birds!Marco shot. The infamous Mandarin Duck! I have never seen it before but it sure is beautiful!Just for good measure. Lorikeet and waterfall = nice snap. I promise this is the last Lorikeet one!
  11. Cheers Mark! Yes I try and be a tiny bit inventive with the angles, otherwise you end up getting the same old "seen a thousand times before" shots. Hopefully more to come soon. Thanks for all the positive feedback guys, much appreciated.
  12. Thanks for the reply Sheepie! Much appreciated. Glad It is not only me that feels like that once everything is done in a day!
  13. Today was the day. Exams over therefore it was time to get the ball rolling theme park wise. In preparation for what should be a fantastic season I purchased a new Panasonic Lumix TZ8 camera which I tried during this visit. I found the camera to be very user friendly and although the weather was rather miserable, some of the images still turned out pretty well. Packed in 34 rides without really trying to be honest, the park was relatively quiet for a weekend with Saw and Colossus peaking at 45 but staying at 30 for the most part of the day. I never thought I would say this but operationally Thorpe were fantastic. Especially in the morning. Headed to inferno first thing and was convinced it was on one train. However even if there were just us two they were dispatching before the train reached the break run. Brilliant from the inferno team. Also, massive well done to the Stealth team. The best dispatching I have ever seen on the ride. Unfortunetly the usual problems with Rush staff have continued this season, lots of staff dossing by the console. Even so, with only Storm Surge down for around 90 minutes even reliability was decent. Yet despite all of this I felt something was missing. I can't quite place it. Something small, just left me very slightly underwhelmed. Maybe it was the ease of which rides were riden or the weather but I dont think so. Maybe I will find what it is later in the season. Still, great visit and a promising start to my 2011 season. Till the next report, thanks for reading and here are the photos...Rush in all its glory. Swing A on both my rides was pretty poor barely reaching 90 degrees. Bit of Stealth. Bit of tree. Happy days. Detonater was excellent as usual. Only queued ten minutes for it. I think I have lost it with Inferno now. It completely lacks ANY sort of forces/unique ride experience. I think Vampire packs more of a punch. Hopefully LC12 will at least have some character. Sad to report that Colossus is now ROUGHT AS boo. It had improved over the last couple of seasons but my two rides bashed the crap out of me. Saw was fantastic. Defo my Thorpe n.o 1. It has everthing. A decent theme, fun indoor section and an outdoor section which really does blow your mind. The last turn into the bracks is really intense!Another shot of Mr Forceless himself. Lots of deceleration on the brakes. Intamin goodness. The overback is the only slight let up after the main drop. Ejector airtime of the MCBR. End is nigh. Loggers was good fun as usual. Into the MCBR.Didnt get on Storm Surge today, stayed at around 60 minutes pretty much all day. After the loop, you could fall asleep. Decent shot of Stealth from Crumba. Through the trees!Final shot of the coma inducing Colossus. Thanks for reading, more PTRs to come soon!
  14. If you stay at Splash Landings Hotel, do you get unlimited entry to the waterpark?
  15. Attendance figures for 2010 can be found HEREThorpe and Alton both up over 3%, Merlin must be very pleased especially with the current economic climate.
  16. Cheers for that Kevin, probbably going to go this weekend so good to know in advance.
  17. This sounds really interesting! I have always thought after queueing for longer periods of time, the ride you experienced is all the more enjoyable.
  18. Very true. Nemesis has a distinctive, beautiful, but very loud sound!
  19. Thats a really good video, thanks for posting! Here is one of ITV's 'This Morning' team riding:

Intamin says 800pph, so probbably more like 600.
  21. Thanks for posting that Sheepie! Really enjoyed it.
  22. If all we care about rides is the throughput then something is seriously wrong! I agree throughput is an important consideration, but surely the ride experience is more important for god sake!
  23. Sorry Rollercoaster, could I change the time to 1.35-1.39. If you CBA then don't worry I'm just being annoying!
