  1. So where are you going this year. The world is essentially back to normal (lets avoid talking China) so rollercoaster season is back on the menu boys/girls/everything in-between. For me May - Poland for Energylandia and the other one with Lech coaster June - East coast trip for Kings Dominion, Busch Williamsburg, SF America, Hershey, Dorney, SF Great Adventure & the big Mall place in new Jersey. I've tried pushing for SF New England but I don't think I'm going to win my corner as it takes us way past New York and the Hubby is resisting my need for Batman. August - Back to Florida to get on Tron, Guardians, Pipeline, Ice Breaker, Tigris and Iron Gwazi Somewhere in-between, money dependant, I'd like to out to Parc Asterix for Toutatis, Madrid for Batman, Finland for Taiga, Germany for Mythica Coaster & Norway for Speed Monster and the new Gerstlauer. And naturally my sights are fully on Mandrill Mayhem at Chessington. I wont be going to Towers, without Nemesis it's almost completely pointless and Thorpe I'll go because I might finally get a second ride on whatever becomes of the Ghost Train. So how about y'all?
  2. How will I found Sj95's instagram now?
  3. Alton Towers and Thorpe in competition to make the most misersable theme parks in Europe. Looks intriguing. Let's see if it retains the reridability of its previous incarnation. Duel famously would be walk on when the rest of the park was rammed soo.....
  4. It will be horror themed, people love doing horror film rides over and over and over and over and over and over again.
  5. I can't believe that most parks are making really amazingly paced rides with interesting layouts and Thorpe were like 'lets go really high' 😅😉

My favourite memory of Rocky Express is a South Park meet in I think 2005 where 38 adults attempted to get on the ride. Good times. Surprised the thing moved.
  7. Along with the Loggers Leap destruction, Nemesis track being scrapped and now this, it's been a really eventful closed season. I can't help feeling a little sad. And old. But mostly sad.
  8. What flat rides should Thorpe bring to the table? I'd argue Thorpe's flat ride collection is only second to Canadas Wonderland so I'd be interested in what the hole in Thorpe's line up is (breakdance). Dark rides yes. It's silly that there's one dark ride that isn't really to me a proper dark ride.
  9. I'm very excited for this ride despite all the obvious problems it's going to have with capacity and (probably) reliability this year. It just feels like Chessington is making a statement with first this and then the water park expansion.
  10. 'Here we have this huge warehouse space, right in the centre of the park. Prime real estate. Let's only utilise it for 20 days in the year'
  11. I love all of it. There's only the backwards spike left to build (and hasn't been because it's in the way of the access road) so my hype is pretty high right now. Thanks to Chessington Buzz. This is going to ride so weirdly and dare I say it, uncomfortably?

Thats actually a fantastic name for a kiddy ride in Forbidden Valley. Snowy and Emily built Mandrill mayhem as they loved going to the Zoo and seeing the Mandrills.

We could talk about the brand new B&M being built at Chessington if you'd prefer.

it's black Nemesis track. I wouldn't get too upset.

The replacement track spotted by Wildcat Coasters in Clermont.
  16. Lovely idea in theory, but will never work completely in a theme park environment. No theme park has enough space to have over 10,000 guests roaming and never having to wait for an attraction. Genie+ and Lightening Lane at the American Disney parks is a compete disaster IMO. It's turned the parks into rich peoples playgrounds and even they have awful times with the system and it is is near impossible to wait less then half an hour for even the smallest rides. Europa Park which still runs it on some of the bigger rides, and is a park that could maybe do it, still has a stand by line. Virtual Queuing falls apart whenever there's even a slight issue. Ride breakdowns, reduced capacity, guest action. The real issue is theme park guests turn their brains off when they get beyond the front gate. The more barriers put in the way, the harder the day becomes. It becomes a system where those in the know such as AP holders are the ones that get the real benefits but the average guest will never really feel like it works. The closest I can relate this too is the RAP queue for disabled guests. In theory, that could be a wonderful system and really benefit the guests who are unable to wait. But that is completely open to abuse. People hate to hear this but it's the AP holders, the ones who know how to get around the system that are making that whole thing a nightmare for everyone to use.
  17. She should ask the Conservative MP's who frequent her hotels and ask them why theres so many hold ups from Europe these days.
  18. I heard they are taking the old Nemesis track and building a brand new B&M inverter at Sea Life Brighton.
  19. Bye Bye Rocky Express
  20. But what if it was…
  21. Chessington Buzz update Now going full steam ahead. It looks so beautiful to me. 😍
  22. Thorpe is a lot more balanced then people realise, there's more variety in its offering then Towers for example Thorpe has so much wasted space where so much could be done. but they settle for mediocrity far too often. No way should a ride like Rumba exist in modern day Thorpe Park. Same with Depth Charge, Walking Dead & Black Mirror, Slammer, etc etc. There is nothing special about any of the rollercoasters at Thorpe. Aside from essentially nostalgia, all of them are pretty generic examples of their ride types. There are moments such as Infernos tunnel or Saw's indoor section but thats it. Thorpe has one of the best flat ride line ups in the world (only Canada Wonderland beats it). From classics like Zodiac and Quantum to more modern (I say modern, they are all approaching their 25's at this point) like Samurai and Vortex.
  23. - Gangsta Granny is actually a really solid dark ride and is only stupidly popular because of the lack of the rides at the park. - Corkscrew was insanely better than Thirteen. For a start, it worked in the rain - Towers Street is genuinely awful. Every change they make to it just makes it worse and worse. - Nemesis and Hex are rides that stand tall with the best in Europe. Everything else is B tier (or lower).
  24. There isn't a lack of things to hate at Thorpe. I really do dislike Saw that much.
