China
The opposite actually, the Chinese new years is a huge time for any Chinese theme park, to be closed over that period will have hit hard. Hong Kong historically has not been a huge success, hence the huge drive to build and invest, upgrade the castle, throw in the Frozen area. If you have any look at Disney when the parks do not do as well as expected, you see massive cuts across the board. Most of the time its entertainment or resort hotel closures, sometimes its hours, amount of trains available. Now, because HK and Shanghai aren't fully owned by Disney the impact may be lessened, however what with Galaxy's Edge not delivering as expected across the two resorts when it first opened and with Tokyo potentially facing Coronovirus issues if this continues, it leave Paris as the only one that's been doing good numbers for the period. Disney also don't really cross money across sections. Money made on the film side of things doesn't cross over into the theme parks and cover that sector if it makes less.

https://deadline.com/2020/02/disney-175m-hit-shanghai-hong-kong-parks-closed-1202851646/ If you're TLDR, then Shanghai and Hong Kong Disneyland could potentially be closed for two months which is unprecedented in Disney theme park history. In comparison, Disney World has had a total of 9 unscheduled closure day in the last twenty years. This, if continues for as long as they say could have a huge impact on long term future investment. Hong Kong in particular is in huge trouble with first the protests and now coronavirus.

The Blue Barnacle (Previously Black Buccaneer)
Blue Buccaneer. Someone has probably already said that.

Flamingo Land
That's more like a never ending dragster where you go over the top, that euphoric moment of leaving the Eu and then you crash through the earths surface, straight through to the other side of the planet and the only benefit you have is that you've probably melted in the Earths molten core.

Flamingo Land
Ok. Who wants to play the odds. Which will open first, this, or F.L.Y.

Stuff that "Triggers You as"/"Makes You Cringe at" an Enthusiast
Man, if 'typical average theme park' had things like Everest, Galaxys Edge and Pandora, how awesome would theme park enthusiasts truly have it!
-
Phantasialand
Technically no. Because that's a Chinese themed area... But yes, a lot of European parks go all in on theming and immersion. Phantasialand is one of the best.

Elmer's Flying Jumbos
The Capybara understandably, hates all the children judging by that image.

2020 Trip Plans
Disneyland Paris for Pride Disneyland California and Californias Great America for Honeymoon. I'll end up at Paultons at some point. I should go to Alton Towers and Thorpe Park because I need to remember how low the bar does go.

Energylandia
Haha, long awaited. They'll be announcing their next giant rollercoaster before this one even gets finished.

Elmer's Flying Jumbos
I'm assuming Anderson are throwing enough money at Merlin to make this worthwhile. The ride is moving anyway, may as well make a bit of money out of it.

Elmer's Flying Jumbos
He does now. I also appreciate the last post before Josh C was 10 and a half years ago.

Detonator
I remember a time when they didn't do the seat belts up on empty seats. I don't remember them doing seat belts up on empty seats on Inferno back in October or come to think of it, Nemesis or Oblivion when I last went to Towers..

Looking back at the 2010s
I adore the 2010's. The theme park industry went away from the horrible height/speed records and started focusing on experiences. From Taron to Helix, Alpina Blitz to Wodan, Pandora & Galaxy's Edge, Untamed and Steel Vengeance. I love them all. Yeah the UK kind of crashed hard but even then we got The Smiler, Icon, Wicker Man, Thirteen and The Swarm. I like these rides.

Joint first in the Quality Posts award, That actually means a lot. 😀

Stealth
I mean, Stealth was out-dated even when it first opened. There was already longer, higher, faster, ones with more inversions & ones with more air time. The park icon. The only reason we in the UK were kind to it was because very few rides like it could open on these shores. A fact still true today. Ironically, the rides loved by the GP and enthusiasts today are the smaller, intricate rides like Taron, Taiga & Helix. Right up my alley.

Stealth
No I didn't contradict myself. You said they wonder why they aren't on the international stage, it's not the case as they think they are on the international stage.
-
Stealth
The park doesn't wonder that. They think they are on the international stage when in actual fact they are a local regional theme park. And that's pretty irrelevant to the rules they choose to enforce.

Thorpe Park 2020
Mate, I need to know what plane you're catching to do that.

Thorpe Park 2020
That's all that matters if we're brutally honest.

Thorpe Park 2020
Thorpe Park's problems aren't the rides that are already there. If you have Thorpes satisfaction scores, that would be an interesting thing to look at. 😁

Nemesis Inferno
The thing with being the best is that there can only be one. And the thing with Inferno is the more unique features such as the pre-lift tunnel, the smoke effects and the actually pretty decent theming make it stand out now to me more then other. At this point I've done quite a few inverters (humble brag) and Inferno always has something about it that makes me happy. Whether it's because it was my first B&M or because it has a certain magic I don't know. I still maintain it should have just been called Inferno, because it just gets endlessly compared to its older sister. IMO it is one of the UK's finest rides and a night ride one of the best experiences.
