Posted August 14, 200619 yr comment_550 I'd like to ask, was anyone at the 2000 fire? Or, do you have any pics?
August 14, 200619 yr comment_557 Fire? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There was a fire at Thorpe Park in the yar 2000 which damaged Wicked Witchees Haunt , Tropical Travels and part of KFC
August 15, 200619 yr comment_588 My sister was working in Sweet City (now Quiksilver) when it happened.
August 18, 200619 yr comment_763 does anyone own or know anybody with pictures of the fire? maybe even a video (I doubt it)
August 18, 200619 yr comment_827 I came a month after that (6 years ago) and there was a huge black bit near the center of thorpe park! I was only 6 at the time!
August 19, 200619 yr comment_895 ClickA video on BBC News. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> meh, ive seen that report so many times. Anyone got anything else?
September 3, 200618 yr comment_1320 No I don't think that ride will ever come back, although I would like to see more dark rides at the park in the future.
November 6, 200618 yr comment_2006 No I don't think that ride will ever come back, although I would like to see more dark rides at the park in the future. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> did they emergency stop the rides then
December 29, 200618 yr comment_2841 ^Well if there was a power loss, the ride would stop anyway and the attendants would have had to run around quickly and evacuate everyone immediatly. You'll be surprised at the amount of training that the attendants/ Ops get actually. (although a fire doesnt nessersarily mean there will be a powerloss)I remember seeing the news at my friends house, I was well shocked. There was a video taken of the aftermath of the fire taken from Tidal Wave on SP, and the result of the fire looked rather catastrophic... So its safe to say it won't be returning, as well as the fact that Detonator and Nemesis Inferno are now in that area. I do hope they build another dark 'scary themed' ride soon though... Its what thorpe lack imo.Click 'ere for the Topic on SP and this is the quote... The aftermath of the Thorpe Park Fire. Credit to Gentle Ben for editing, and micky p for filming.(there is a bit of random X:/ No Way Out footage in the begining of the Video, just sit it out and you'll get onto the WWH bit) Edited December 29, 200618 yr by Cringle
December 29, 200618 yr comment_2873 There are two power sources for Thorpe Park. One from Chertsey, and one from Staines. They both enter Thorpe Park through Monks Walk, and I would expect that every ride has backup power, from one source or another. Wold be unlikely (but not impossible) that the power would stop, just because of a Fire. All the power is in cables underground, so it's unlikely that the power cables would be burnt as much to stop providing.Maybe I should be called Thorpe Park Expert?
December 30, 200618 yr comment_2902 The power can and has stoped before, rides which need it to get riders down such as slammer would have emergency source of power to be able to just rotate the ride to the right angle and lower.
June 13, 200718 yr comment_10960 I found a video on youtube, but its got a boring video of x:/ no way out first? but afterwards its got pics an video's of the fire dammage at TP!
June 13, 200718 yr comment_10962 Yeh that's a really interesting video actually, that's been posted before. Thanks for reminding us- I actually forgot about that video.I like looking at where Det and Inferno are now. Haha, it's wierd.
June 13, 200718 yr comment_10975 That was the official cause. In the Mill queue line, some one stubbed it out on the wood, and it set fire. Pity something like that hasn't happened to Zodiac.
August 26, 200718 yr comment_13578 I don't know about the fire but I went to Thorpe Park August of that year
April 17, 201114 yr comment_113585 God this topic is full of gone away people, and the first page member stuff is soo screwed! It's well mentioned that it was a cigarette that caused this fire, however it was apparently an electrical fault. Remember reading this on a document somewhere weird.
April 17, 201114 yr comment_113586 Asked about this at the Royal Hollaway Thorpe Park lecture, it roughly cost £1 Million in damage.
June 5, 201114 yr comment_117189 I found a video on youtube, but its got a boring video of x:/ no way out first? but afterwards its got pics an video's of the fire dammage at TP!
