JDann
I was a huge fan of the RCT series and was disappointing to read really poor reviews for the most recent addition to the series. However, I have come across another game Planet Coaster, by the creators of RCT3 which looks amazing. I've just purchased it and look forward to giving it a play this evening! Has anyone else yet played this?https://www.planetcoaster.com/

Looked forward to getting home last night and giving it a go, looks as though my laptop doesn't meet the spec. Should really have checked before buying it, gutted! It managed to boot up, but I could only see the landscape.
JDann
Just ordered the new MacBook thinking I can run Planet Coaster... It's not compatible for Mac... So annoying. Literally have to shed out £800 for a gaming PC or laptop if you want to be able to run this game. I'm not a 'Gamer' at all, so it's completely not worth it. Such a shame. Dean_W
I've got an iMac which I've only had for about a year... I think it would be able to handle Planet Coaster, but I'm not sure whether they're even going to make a Mac version! You can't talk to anybody about it on any forum, though, because the only response you'll get is "Macs are crap" or "buy a proper computer" (is that what they think 'PC' stands for?)... anyway my mac runs other games way better than my 'proper computer' ever did - so I'm sure Planet Coaster would be fine for me! As you say, I don't really want to pay £800 for a game

Not sure how much development it would take them to make it available on a different operating system, I'd hope that by the time it comes in 4-6 weeks there might be some more news on it! Dean_W
I really don't understand why they wouldn't make a Mac version to be honest - Macs are becoming increasingly more popular!
Project LC
Mac's don't have the CPU/GPU power needed to run planet coaster well. As a result frontier decided not to develop the game for it.

Marc
Nope - it partitions your hard drive (think of it like separating your hard drive into more than one) one partition will have windows one will have osx, when you boot your mac you hit the command key and boot into widows, its completely independent of OSX - only resource it will take away from OSX is hard drive space. Marc
I run windows 10.. can download a copy of 10 from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 - then youll just need to buy your product key... im fairly sure i've not activated my copy atall tbf! I might just leave it for now and hope they make a Mac version I definitely can't afford £130 just to play Planet Coaster lol
JDann
Nice one Marc, thanks, will certainly do that. I'd imagine the new Macbook Pro should certainly be able to run it fine doing this.

Cornflakes
booted up planet coaster today with the intention of just messing around with a roller coaster that interacts with a rapids ride, ended up wasting my entire day pretty much starting a new park and half finishing the first area. this area is themed to germany, an the big rollercoaster that runs through the area is going to have a horror theme when it's finished. I really like the idea of mixing horror elements into an area that isn't entirely horror themed (basically just transylvania at chessington). the roller coaster - specter - is inspired by mack mega coasters the majority of the queue for the rapids winds around itself in the middle of this plaza area. I'm really disappointed by the rapids in the game, having a straight station sucks to begin with, but then not being able to add more boats than the station can hold (like the log flume) is what really ruins it, makes it almost impossible to imitate a turntable station. I tried to do this but it really isn't good, if anyone has any tips on how to do this while still having a functional ride, please let me know. I really like the way specter dives into this barn. does a barn fit in with the germany theme? probably not. (the car ride snaking below the area is called "the autobahn" btw) the giant wooden mess in the middle is to give that long stretch of track some support while adding a theming element (I'm not sure what it's meant to be though) basically the rapids have cut off a crucial support on that long stretch of track, and no amount of poking and prodding can get it back, I really wish you could build your own supports in this game. if anyone has any better ideas for the theming element/support - please let me know. pognoi, Kerfuffle, CharlieN and 2 others
pognoi
You can using the cylinders piece by piece. Start from the bottom up or the top down and used the advanced placement tool and you can make really accurate supports pretty quick. yeah
So Ive had this game for a few days and I absolutely adore it. I'm currently working on a park called Tropicana Springs and its definetly my best yet. So far there isnt much, only two areas with one being the entrance And the other being a pirate area with a currently unnamed log flume, themed around a battle between pirates and redcoats. The theming isnt finished yet. The area also includes a Whirly Rig which I have yet to theme and a pirate ship. Now, this is where I need some help. I have an Intamin Giga that I quite like the layout of but I have no idea what to theme it around. I dont think I want it to be pirate themed, I want it to be in its own themed area with one other ride it can interact with. Any ideas anyone? Kerfuffle
Oh bugger I've also been playing this game a while and I've been hiding my progress until now! Gentlemen? Entrance plaza!! Very Towers inspired I know but I'm so happy with how the view of the castle turned out as I was being extremely precise on the positioning of it. Street itself took a while too. Old Frontier is my Alpine-style Western area. Contains 3 rides; Bandit 1885 (mine train), Timber Falls (log flume (duh!!)) and Rodeo (Tri-Storm). Another shot of Bandit 1885 in motion, featuring the station building. The ride is based on an exhibition into an abandoned gold mine, where unknowingly, wanted bandit El Mucho and his hoods are in hiding. The ride uses over 30 triggered effects, an indoor animated show sequence and a brief epilogue scene (the small hut to the far left of the image being a jail) to tell a story in as much detail as possible. Bandit 1885's epic finale. The explosions at the drop base were literally inspired off Flabaliki's own mine train in his Hard Mode series featuring the same effect. The bridge of course was an inspiration off Seven Dwarf's Mine Train and contemplates to the Alpine theme perfectly. A Western themed food outlet inspired off BdoubleO100's food plaza. Timber Falls partly traverses the mountain which houses Bandit 1885's show sequence. Note the castle looming overhead to the left. Moving onto my fantasy area, Magic Valley (might be renamed sometime). This area also contains 3 rides; Whirlwind (spinning coaster), Excalibur (river rapids (below)) and Hex (Magic Twirl). Excalibur is an exciting river adventure which pits you against white water, waterfalls...oh...and DRAGONS!! Extra detail/effects pending for now. Entrance for Excalibur. Currently has no functioning Priority Pass system: Whirlwind is a spinning coaster themed around a wizard's accidental failed spell, causing a whirlwind to be cast and the entire Magic Valley to be overgrown and shrouded in enchantment. The ride uses surprising special effects and music (D'wervelwind's onboard audio! ) to create a magical experience. The logo for the ride I'm particularly proud of as I used different pieces to make it (the gingerbread icing around the border for instance). As part of Whirlwind's effects lineup, I built a wizard's tower as part of the experience, as well as a spectacle for passers-by. It's laid out to appear as if the wizard is at work at the top conjuring up a spell. You will first hear a spell being cast, only for smoke to blast through the cage windows. Another one is cast moments later...and an explosion erupts from the room. Our wizard clearly isn't having the best of times. The entire sequence is triggered by a car on Whirlwind dispatching from the station. A very D'wervelwind inspired station interior for Whirlwind (which is still in need of extra details hence the lacking). ...and finally a WIP project for an Aztec themed area. This is Humunga, a B&M Inverter currently under construction. If anyone can teach me how to get a ruined/crumbled effect for buildings like this that'll be appreciated. All feedback is welcome! JoshC.
Are you going to build a wingrider behind the Magic Valley any time soon for the full Toverland experience? Kerfuffle
