August 19, 201312 yr comment_165766 Effects on tomb blaster are really messing up now especially the skeletons along one of the Straights. No lights and the effects only start working when you've passed them. Also last week they opened the air vents, wasn't really that hot, and it ruined the ride due to all the light getting in.
August 19, 201312 yr comment_165771 It really frustrates me how Tomb Blaster is being handled badly these days, with the air vents being open and effects broken again, it really detracts the experience of the ride and it was just a year ago when they fixed all the ride up back to its former glory and now it sounds like they're ruining that.
August 20, 201312 yr comment_166080 I think Tomb Blaster is a little like Duel, depending on which days you go, different effects will work one day and not the other. I'm sure as soon as they fix one effect another breaks.
August 23, 201312 yr comment_166713 The air vents were open when I was there. Really spoiled the ride. It also baffles me that they won't invest in a fire door that doesn't let light in (axe alley).
August 24, 201312 yr comment_166836 Just remember for those few weeks of the year when it is warm, opening the air vents is a lot cheaper than putting in air con into that huge warehouse.

I guess you're referring to the theming that was already falling apart and a danger to everyone hence it's removal? Chessie can't afford anything worthwhile...
August 25, 201312 yr comment_166898 Yes, the theming that was falling apart because it hadn't been maintained.
August 25, 201312 yr comment_166900 Yes but also because fibreglass supported by scaffolding doesn't really last 25+ years anyway. I went on the ride with all the vents open and actually thought it wasn't too detrimental to the experience. There's a lot inside the Tomb to keep the eye interested and if anything shows up more detail than the normal show lighting does. The ride has worse problems!
August 26, 201312 yr comment_167005 air con can easily be installed on that ride and not be noticed at all. Anyone been to a little park called Disney World or Universal in Florida?
August 27, 201312 yr comment_167008 Retrofitting a 20 year old building is a bit different from a country where the constant hot/muggy weather requires every building to be a freezer 24/7... I would be interested to see how much it would cost them to fit in a system and how much work it would require to keep the entire building to a suitable temp considering it's two floors and split into multiple rooms...
August 27, 201312 yr comment_167015 air con can easily be installed on that ride and not be noticed at all. Anyone been to a little park called Disney World or Universal in Florida? You mean that really warm part of America that regularly sees temperatures well into the 30's? Chessington would argue that air on on Tomb would be a waste of money but then upkeeping their rides would also be seen as a waste of money so you-know, va la voom.
August 27, 201312 yr comment_167081 am I the only one that's had a problem with the throughput of this ride... went last year and again this year, and out of the trains that are being sent around half of them were closed off, the queue moved so slow!
August 27, 201312 yr comment_167082 Throughput of the ride is fine, though I dislike it running on 3 trains. It's a different matter when they have cars blocked off though (due to the guns not working generally).
August 27, 201312 yr comment_167083 is that a regular occurrence though as it's happened on 2 occasions, and if I remember probably the few years before that :/ how many trains should it normally run on?
August 28, 201312 yr comment_167147 3 on offpeak (dead weekdays), 4 usually, 5 during halloween, summer and hopefully easter.
August 28, 201312 yr comment_167165 I thought three trains was maximum (because I recall seeing a sign saying "We are running three trains on Tomb Blaster today to reduce your queuing time").
August 29, 201312 yr comment_167195 Rule 1. Chessington Lies. Seems strange to downgrade themselves though - why wouldn't they want people to know that Tomb Blaster has 5 trains? (Unless they make people think that 3 is a lot when really they could be running more?)
August 29, 201312 yr comment_167266 you've probably got that right... I went halloween last year and a lot of the rows weren't working, and can't remember a train coming through that often to run 5, seriously, so poor!

(Unless they make people think that 3 is a lot when really they could be running more?) You've probably got confused is all. Tomb used to have an a frame sign (presumably the one mentioned) saying FIVE trains. Vampire used to have one which said THREE trains.
February 18, 201411 yr comment_176777 I went on Tomb Blaster during African Adventures. It has to be said that the ride's in a right state now! On the plus side, at least the boulder was working.
