Mark9
Spinball is bound to get a higher throughput - longer station, more cars, less chance of stacking before being dispatched.
Fred
Well yes.. more time for someone to get into car, put bags across, get seated, get checked.. and it dispatching without it stopping.Unlike poor fury whereby it almost always stops due to lack of staff/**** staff/**** guests/**** ride. Mark9
Well yes.. more time for someone to get into car, put bags across, get seated, get checked.. and it dispatching without it stopping. There has never ever been a time where I've ridden Spinball and it has gone from drive 4 (which is the first drive in the station) through to drive 8 (which is Spinballs dispatch drive) and not stopped.. Now you may say "but you don't live at Spinball and stay there all day" and that is true however I've ridden it enough times since 2004 and queued long enough for it each time to see that Spinball rarely ever has a car go straight through the station and out again without stopping..Also a bit confused, Spinball has the same amount of drives in the station and probably the same distance between drives in the station as Fury and yet Spinball has a longer station somehow.I'd actually argue it's far more easier for Spinball to stack up, the distance between drive 3 (the drive before the station) and drive 4 is so marginal whereas the distance between Fury's drive 4 (the transfer track drive) and drive 5 is a lot longer giving time for car a to get ahead of car b in the station. Ricky
To be fair whenever I go on Spinball I always stop for a few seconds when entering the ride at the end, and before leaving.
Ricky
Has anybody seen Altons advert at the moment? It's ridiculously cheap and tacky. Just 4 people on Nemesis screaming and talking. What a load of bull
Fred
Its the suns advert - and its been on for a couple of years now - you can see the dubbing when he says "save Ā£79" .The towers advert itself is pretty cool.
Ricky
Well, I dont watch TV on a regular basis! I just thought that looks awful!
AstroDan
It's for The Sun offer, and therefore is typical of the sort of advert they would want - it's a direct repeat of the one used 12 months ago for the same offer in 2010. The nationwide Alton Towers TV advert for the 2011 season was being filmed over the last week and will be released in the next couple of weeks. thorpeparkjunkie
It's for The Sun offer, and therefore is typical of the sort of advert they would want - it's a direct repeat of the one used 12 months ago for the same offer in 2010. The nationwide Alton Towers TV advert for the 2011 season was being filmed over the last week and will be released in the next couple of weeks.I think the adverts for The Sun offer work very well - simple yet affective. If the new advert is anything like the parks last few adverts since Merlin took over than it should be pretty good. As long as it is not like the parks 2007 advert I will be happy The 2007 advert was very poor - no magic touch at all. However I do miss these adverts - tussauds was amazing! Benin
About the only thing I like on that map is the way they've done Oblivion...However... Elsewhere it's a bit of a mess... I know it's not meant to be entirely accurate but...

NickD
I remember when maps where used to navigate my way around. Could you imagine trying to navigate the park purely with that map!
Mark9
true that. You'd think the Mine Train ran under Nemesis if you used that map.
Ricky
And since when has the towers been centre? I'm sure they are pretty much the back of the park!?
Fred
Since when has dark forest been behind cuckoo land? .Towers is a huge reference, and not much infront of it. Makes sense navigation wise.
Ricky
At least thorpes map was kinda accurate in the sence of rides wernt in random places Though it was more like a work of art then a map.
Fred
Though it was more like a work of art then a map. What the BLOODY HELL is this then?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?My god. What the **** have they created?!AARRGGHHHH NNOOOOOOOOO.God this place sucks arse sometimes.
JoshC.
Looks like they've gone for the whole idea of 'a piece of art' than a means of navigation. I know that's been defended for Thorpe due to its size, but at Alton, I definitely think a navigable map should be used!
Graeme
And we all thought the placing of storm surge was random until we saw this map
Weeksy
Bit of a mess isn't it! I can't quite see why they have included the hotels on it - if you're not staying there, doesn't really matter surely?
AstroDan
Th13teen no longer looks like Xcelerator in the woods.Result!I love the look of this map, but agree it's less than ideal for navigation. Stunning work of art, though.
Nicky
I can understand them wanting to make a feature of the hotels to try and attract more guests but surely it would have helped to have Towers Street as an actual vertical line up the map. At least then you can orientate yourself, it's rather awkward at that angle.
TraX
I love it! No, actually I do! Ok, you wouldn't plan for the 40 min walk across the valley, looking at it--but it's a nice bit of art work all the same! Atleast they haven't got people shagging behind the rapids and other such nonsense.
