Piggy's glasses in LOTF represent this, he has a good knowledge of foreshadowing, predicting what will happen in the future, and another example from Lord of the Flies would be the representation of the Conch - it could easily be seen as something to call the island with - but if you look deeper, you find many different layers of meaning, and the Conch can be seen as the representation of democracy; as even when the group mentality element of Lord of the Flies comes into force when they kill the first person, all of the unrule is brought udner control when Piggy blows the conch.
