I remember trying to book Parc Asterix tickets many years ago, and there was a massive price difference between the online prices based upon what language you choosed...

The English site was at least €5 more expensive than the French site... It was very dodgy, but then, it's the French, so what else do we expect?

I was sort of aware of this, I do remember Peaj telling me they'd blocked the discount t site or something for English customers so it doesn't surprise me much.

Day tickets are overpriced anyway there which is why I bought an annual pass when I visited (buy the fantasy one as the one below is useless) which thanks to the guys I went with already having one I paid a bit less than the main price which I think is €180 now (it's cheaper to get a pass than doing 3 day tickets).

Still think it's unfair the parks doing this but just shows us where we stand with the French ;)

Today is the day many DLP fans have been waiting and/or dreading to happen.

And this will be the site of Big Thunder Mountain now for the next 13 months.

Lots more work is taking place too.

Some light at the end of the tunnel remains however.

It's certainly going to be a long year and a half with all these refurbishments at DLP and so many areas closed, and that's before Peter Pan, Star Tours, Rock N Rollercoaster plus Asvebture Isle, Cabane De Robinson, Animagicue & Tram Tour (who cares) close up.

I have no plans to do DLP next year but I'm sure the place will look fantastic when 2017 arrives.

Very understandable during this difficult time and respectful to an extent too. Paris will be tense place to be and may well take months before it reaches the vibes the city had until this year.

The Sleeping Beauty castle is also showing it's respect to last nights tragedy too.

This marks the end of a long era. Not just for the Paris Star Tours, but all of them as this was the last original one left. I feel very glad to have gotten a few rides on the original whilst it last.

I am sure the new one will be fab though as I've heard good things about the state ones [which I am yet to experience].

Star Tours closure brings up the closed rides at DLRP currently to 12, including BTM, RNRC, Adventure Isle and Peter Pans Flight. Definitely not the year to visit DLRP [unless your a big fan or pass holder], but still better than Towers somewhat.

am I right in thinking that all these refurbs are in preperation for the 25th Birthday? so we can expect them to all be done before april (except Pirates)....

This is all correct. As the park was getting in to a worn state (for Disney standards), management realised how bad it had become and have decided to do an extensive resort refurbishment to bring the standard back up to how the park was in its early years (once described as the most picturesque Disney resort).

In brief:

Big Thunder Mountain is closed until December 2016

Rock N Roller Coaster is closed until June 2016

Peter Pan's Flight is closed until July 2016

Adventure Isle & Cabane De Robinson are closed until around August 2016

Star Tours is closed until March 2017 (where it'll become the Adventure Continues mk2)

POTC is expected to close around February for a six month refurb plus Space Mountain is expected to close again and gain new trains as well.

More information is availible here for the closures http://www.disneylandparis.co.uk/calendars/park-hours/

Unfortunately 2016 isn't really the best year to do DLRP due to the closures and refurbishments. This also includes shops. Restaurants and themed areas too.

If you're looking to go when it's less busy, I would go for either mid/late April- late May or Mid September until Mid October. Avoid public holidays as the park will probably be busy (as a good chunk of guests are from the UK).

Ride availability wise either Junly or December. Park will probably be busy at these times but Rock N Roller & Peter Pan reopen for summer and Thunder Mountain reopens December along with Molly Brown.
