  1. I wonder what will happen to Bubbleworks in the future? I'd love to see an indoor-outdoor river rapids replacing Bubbleworks. I think a Rapids ride is water ride attraction, that every theme park should have. Bubbleworks is old and could use an extensive refurbishment or to be replaced itself.

I agree that there are some similarities between Roar and Brave. I like Gaga's new single. All her songs have been different: Just Dance was dance-pop, whereas Bad Romance was more industrial-sounding, electro-pop. Born This Way very upbeat and pop-sounding. With Applause, it sounds like a old, retro video game mixed with a modern dance sound. I think the verses are a 'hit or miss'. Some people will like them and some people will find that it grates on them, and they remind me of the Jamaican Patois, the way she delivered the verses in Judas. The chorus is radio-friendly and it's a fun, pop song. If she didn't do a fun pop song, people would've condemned her for being pretentious or too serious, like Born This Way.

Yay! A rough version of Burqa by Lady Gaga has surfaced https://soundcloud.com/borisgoluzdravac/13-v2
  5. Coaster wants: 1) Flyer - A thrilling flyer that would compliment the relaxing AIR and would have a pretzel loop. I absolutely loved Manta at SeaWorld Orlando and I think the public would love it. I went with my Sister and her two friends to Orlando, and they loved Manta. Thought it was thrilling but also quite easy-going and not that thrilling, quite smooth they said. 2) Woodie - I think the GP would really benefit from a Wooden Coaster, as it's not a type of coaster that there's a lot of in the UK. I really liked Gwazi at Busch Gardens. 3) Hyper - I would love a air-time machine to compliment the Big Pepsi Max with a hammerhead element, but I am just thinking maybe it will overshadow the other coasters at Thorpe. 4) Maverick rollercoaster - They could make it really long and it would be a guest favourite. 5) Indoors rollercoaster that would build upon SAW's indoor dark section.

  7. I agree! I'm still eating some caramalised onion chutney from 2-3 months ago and we still have bread, bread rolls, meat and soups that are frozen and we'll defrost when we need. Something we buy is Smoked Salmon and places like Sainsburys and Waitrose will sometimes do deals or % off and we'll stock up and freeze. Those concepts generally work.
  8. My grandfather was her under-secretary and he told my Dad (before I was born) that whilst she was very polarising and many didn't agree with her views, she was a good person with a good heart and cared about her people and achieved so much as a woman in politics that many couldn't do. At the end of the day, she's a human being and despite what people may feel about her, she deserves some respect and to not have herself and her family treated the way that they're being treated.
  9. It already looks better than The Flume in my opinion.
  10. The award for Best Post of the Year 2013 goes to coaster_monkey I agree with everything you said, it's not the 1950-1980's anymore, times have moved on and whilst there are a few people, who feel the way this man does, he will be left in the past whilst we move forward to the future. I don't know anyone (of any age) who remotely feels this negative way about race and people's ethnicity apart from a former member, who was banned ages ago. It's best to leave these people be and let them drown in their own ignorance and simple/narrow/close-minded ways.

    2013 Changes

Actually it is, we still have 7 months left of 2013.
  12. The UK has the biggest amount of foreigners in this 'country' than any in the world. London is the most diverse and multicultural city out there, so of course there are going to be foreigners working in places like Starbucks and McDonald's. I don't know anyone who would want to work in McDonald's. There are jobs out there that none of our own nationality would do because they'd be embarrassed and are picky that they think it's beneath them. There are people who come in from other countries who have families to take care of and they aren't proud and have no problem doing those jobs. The reason why there are so many foreigners is because of immigration laws and our government letting so many people in. And only in the last few years have the government finally realised it. Places like Australia don't have this problem as they only let people in, who have something to contribute to the economy and to their society, rather than letting people in, who are only going to leech of them and add nothing of value. We have so many people coming to this country because things are easier here. They can claim benefits and it's a lot easier than in their own country. Employers would rather hire migrant workers to do a job and pay them less money than hire some of their own nationality. Cont. I'm not surprised but I am surprised that you are about this.

    X

Honestly, I can't see X staying more than a couple years. Thorpe must know they could make much better used of the area and the Arena-area too. I see this re-theme or refurbishment as nothing but a temporary fix.

In the last two years, I've really begun to take a strong interest in 4 of these upcoming artists. Natalia Kills, who was signed by Will.I.am and is releasing her 2nd album in the Summer. Her best song is called Mirrors and she makes a lot of dark-sounding, pop music. She works with Jeff Bhasker (fun, Kanye West) and Emilie Haynie (Lana Del Rey) Neon Hitch, a gypsy who is known for her songs F U Betta and Gold (written by Bruno Mars) works with Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Pink, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Britney Spears). Randomly, someone I know from work, is actually good friends with her, surprise, surprise. Sky Ferreira, who has worked with Shirley Manson of Garbage as well as pop producers, 'Bloodshy & Avant' (Most famous for Toxic by Britneyy Spears) and has some really good songs like One, Obsession, Elevator, Red Lips and Everything Is Embarrassing. Porcelain Black, US female solo artist who went under the name of Porcelain and the Tramps was known for making industrial-sounding music and has finished making an album which is due in the summer. She is working with and was discovered by my favourite producer, RedOne of Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Nicki Minaj. What I really respect are 'artists' who write their songs and have creative control over their music, as opposed to other Popstars, who rely on songwriters to write their 'hits'. Seeing artists like Adele, Janelle Monae, fun, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran writing their own songs, maintains my faith in this industry.
  16. Yes I did. I HOPED they would close it and build a ride in there because the space is massive, Obviously, it's not happening.

    2013 Changes

I would like to see an emphasis on families. Maybe 2-1 to thrill-seekers and families. I don't think Vortex or Rush at all and when you have rides like Zodiac and Quantum, you can see how family-thrilling some of the rides are. You have Storm Surge as a family-type addition and I can see XNWO being a family-ride and later replaced with an indoors rollercoaster. Speaking of coasters, I think the next big rollercoaster will be an air-time coaster or a wooden coaster because it's something that is appealing to thrill-seekers and also to families but I'd also like a rollercoaster like Maverick. Either of the way would be great
  18. Speaking of which, I hoped they close the Burger King they have in that huuuuuuuge building and gut it inside and build a dark, indoors family-thrilling rollercoaster like the indoor parts from the SAW ride.

I'm not sure if the coaster will be finished on time for March opening (assuming the ride opens in March)

    2013 Changes

Thorpe are aware what we think and they read these forums. I personally think we'll be getting a re-theme for this year with new trains, going forward and a lowered restriction and maybe a new paint job as the maximum. Maybe 3-5 years later, XNWO will be replaced. I'd really like an indoor rollercoaster where XNWO and the Arena is and because of legislation, the queue can't be indoors anymore, which I never liked in the first place because it always felt claustrophobic. I'm interested as to what this re-theme will be...

I agree with Mark on this actually. I don't like Storm Surge being installed, the supports at the top look tacky and being installed right in the middle is a bit of an eyesore. It blocks XNWO and I wish it didn't. If anything, I wish it were installed where Depth Charge is, as a replacement to it. The queues on the ride are long and maybe two of them would've been better but then again, it shouldn't have been installed in the first place. I'd rather a nice-looking flat ride (not a HUSS ride) instead of Storm Surge

As much as I'd like a Topple Tower, Huss Delirium or a Top Spin. I don't think they will come: 1) Topple Towers have reliability problems and breakdown a lot 2) Huss Deliriums are amazing but they take up too much space and they'd be better suited for somewhere hot and with a lot of space 3) There is a Topspin in Chessington and Alton and I can't see them building one at Thorpe.

Slammer and Sky Swat? Despite the argument of "there's only one in the world, so it must be crap", people love Slammer and you can see what could've been and it's a flat ride that most people would never have the chance to ride. None of the GP are going to go to US to ride a S&S Sky Swat so Thorpe is the closest they will ever get. I love Slammer, I think it's unique and it stands out. Me personally, I would've built two Sky Swatters and built them facing each other and placed them in the Lost City and themed to some Mayan theme about a sacrifice to the Sun God. And I would've built Rush in Canada Creek and themed appropriately like Kennywood's version. I think a HUSS Jump2 would be fantastic despite the "there's only one in the world, so it must be crap" argument and I think it would be a very unique ride. I'd also love two Topspins themed like Talocun with a pre-show and on an intense setting. None of us have ever ridden a Jump2 and it might be great. I'd also love a Mondial Shake & Roll and a HUSS Booster
  24. So if Chessie go down the inverting coaster route, you'd like a Flyer? I'd like a flyer too but I can realistically see them installing something like the Mack Manta. I went on the B&M Manta and it was very enjoyable, so I'm personally happy with either. I'm not that fussy but ideally, I'd like something that has good throughput, it's exciting and family-thrilling (appealing to both) and it's themed reasonably well, I'm fine.
