Drayton Manor trip reportI would give the park 4out of fiveRide countShock wave x2G- Force x1Apocalypse x1The Bounty x1Splash Canyon x2Mealstrom x1Storm force 10 x1exaclibur x1pirate x1Golden Nuggets shoot out x1Big Wheel x1Drunkern Barrels x2Buffalo coaster x1After an agonizingly long drive where we feel asleep partially but waking up because we where buzzing from our excitement of goin to the park when we arrived however in the car park we had an encounter with a women who was trying to leave and was nearly hitting all the cars around her and after that we where unsure what to expect from the rest of our day.I thought the parks theming for fishermans Wharf was on a par or slightly higher than the standard of Amity cove, it was an excellent area which really set the scene and the theming was brilliant, the area looked just as it should however storm force 10 was looking like it needed quite a tidy up with the building queline and people banging on the windows and such didn't help the ride was excellent however painful at times, however the rapids where very nice and relaxing and the theming was also to a good standard.G- Force is cracking ride which seems to have improved since my last visit with its downtime and such however lacked the such high theming levels of the rides around it, the ride itself is great but there could have been more down with it interms of the theme. The rides where all great and the theming parkwide with the rides and buildings was on a good level and really created a nice atmosphere apart from the temporary chain link fencing with large footers which regularly caused my self and some many others to trip over was rather unsightly and irratting.I thought that the theming of such a tame sounding and looking ride and drunkern barrels was really nice as they had clearly put alot into the ride. The parks theming as a whole again was great however there where effects and such that needed touching up upon, like the mechanical figures of some rides and the fire breathing dragon( which breathed no fire) on excalibur.I found most of the staff to be friendly and polite tho some seemed to have attitudes, on the whole they where polite and entertaining however the guests in the park where awful.Because we went when there where school trips sadly there where all the chavish thug brutes around who could only entertain themselves by shouting at each other, barging each other into other people and in the process nearly pushing me and my friends down the stairs, punch and hitting the buildings the theming and windows for now reason other than they are bored and being completely irratting, this can not be helped but it really brought down the day.The level of rubbish around the park from the school children was astounding they just dropped and threw things everywhere as they had no respect. The rides where great the theming of storm force 10 blew me away just as before along with the pirate adventure and the thrills from G- Force, Shock wave and Apolalypse where such a rush of intensity and made the day. There is such a variety of rides that the park really is peferct for the whole family along with the zoo which we visited, the Dino Trail was a nice little addition and was great for all the families and entertained us well along with all the animals.Again I have to comment on the theming of the park being such a good level such as the buildings looking brillaint and fresh and bright. We visited the new Thomas Land which was a very nice addition to the park being well themed and bright and there where so many families that thoroughly enjoyed the area. The prices of food where a fresh change as it didn't have to be expensive meals that you don't really want such as with the chain theme parks. If it weren't for all the annoyance the guests caused which ultimately are not the parks fault the day would have been perfect, the park is a beautiful little cracker with a vast array of some very well themed areas and excellent rides. For what the park is a small family run buisness it is done incredibly well and should recieve in my eyes far more recognition than it currently does as many of the rides beat those from the well established parks such as:Apocalypse: I have not seen a taller or such a thrilling drop tower ride in the whole country, this ride was amazing and was truly terrifying in the hieght and speed of the drop.Storm Force 10: Such a unique and marvelous water ride with so much to offer in terms of the great scale of theming and the backwards drop unique effect in the country as far as I have seen, the ride is marvelous and does so much for the RNLI charity unlike other rides and far better than many of the water rides I have encountered.Shock Wave: The only stand up roller coaster in Europe, this ride is rather painful at times but it is a very thrilling and exiting and unique ride none the less.We had a lovely day out at this little gem of a park and we are very excited about returning to the park at some stage and I even heard several groups of people throught the day say they prefered it to some of the chain theme parks such as Thorpe Park and Alton towers.

I'm of to drayton manor on wednesday and it says about the opening times that it closes at a minimum of five, I was wondering does it depend on the weather what time they close and also seeing as its summer and their busiest period won't it be open till later?also I'll try to write a review or something when I get back from my visit

I know how you feel I keep shaking because I'm so wound up and angry after I saw these comments this girl that has made my life hell made about me and when I retaliated defending me and my friend she insulted, who is also supposed to be her friend she had to get two of her friends to come along and have a go at me to make her feel big and special just proves my point that she is a coward.
-
I was just wondering.A girl I previosuly mentioned on here before who caused me and my family alot of upset by harrasing my mother over the phone constantly for around a month or more causing my mother alot of stress which could have caused her recovery to slow and also could have caused in severe case the cancer to return!I am thinking about the past recently and what happened and I was just reflecting upon when I told my friend all about this and her actions.(This girl has now chosen to ignore me and no longer be my friend as she choose to beleive her that I had done things to her when I had proved time and again I hadn't and then she choose to ignore me and date this girl)And yet when I explained to her about what she had done to my mother whilst she was recovering from her chemotherapy she didn't really seem that upset or bothered which thinking about it now angers me alot because she had told me that her own mother had suffered cancer twice and if she knows how much pain, stress and upset it causes when they are going through the chemotherapy and operations etc why, how could she not be angry at these actions?I know this sounds rather jealous talk and I suppose it kind of is, but I'm more upset at the fact she understood the pain we where going through which the girl only added an immense lot more and yet she was not angry about her actions?seems rather insulting to me.

This is looking good, is this the same proto type rumoured to be heading for thorpe in 2012?

storm force 10 out of the parks I have visited has to be by far the best water ride in the UK and is rather well themed and a great experience.Apocalypse is the best drop tower I have been on and gives such a rush and thrill and there's the different style of seating to try.Maelstrom is my friends favourite ride, when we visited we rode it over and over over again because she loved it.I am also looking foward to hopefully visiting the park in a few weeks time.
-
nice to see that they still upkeep the rides in octopus gardens despite the difference from their target audience
-
who do we think river song is?I personally believe she is possibly the rani?
-
Don't understand why everyone seems to have a vendetta on here against the park and telling people to go alton towers all the time, I would rather go to drayton than alton towers.

I visited drayton manor a few years ago and found the park very enjoyable, granted G-Force is rather rough but none the less I and my friends found the park very enjoyable and several rides to me are far more thrilling than thorpe's.I am very content and excited about planning to possibly visit this year if I can make my way there, I think that G-Force is a good ride but it is a let down because of the roughness but I loved Shock wave, best coaster in the park, the rapids where both thrilling and relaxing and I feel that the park is very well themed compared to some of it's other competitors in some aspects considering it is only a small park run by a family rather than a chain some of the rides are great acomplishmnets for them and the park has a great mix of family and thrill rides to even things out.I think the park deserves more recognition than it currently recieves.I found Storm Force a breath taking ride and it was very clearly visibly that a large ammount of effort had gone into place with the theming of the rides queueline and station, the procariously stacked books and such where a lovely sight and feel to the ride and I found it exihilarting and far more thrilling than over water rides I have been on and very unique, and the ride deserves far more recognition for the theming and the ride itself along with the fact that the ride works with a charity, one of the only rides around I have encountered to do so raising around 66 million for life boating charities since its opening date.Apocalypse was a truly thrilling ride and I loved how you are given the option of standing or seating for the drop as they are rather different exeperiences in my opinion and it was far more thrilling than other drop towers or rides I have been on because of the sheer height of the ride and speed of the drop I was more scared than when I have been on many roller coasters and found it matched of even exceeded some roller coasters as it where.Maelstrom was a ride that I and most certianly my friend who insisted we ride countless times throught the day found both thrilling and fun and a wonderful experience.Pirates adventure was a ride that me and my friend decided to go on despite the childlike vibe however we found this ride a relaxing nice ride to and rather fun. I found the ride excelling my expectation with the theming of the ride being at the standard of which it was I found it of parks such as disney the ride was just greatly themed and a fun ride not thrilling but it didn't need to be and we loved the interaticivty of the ride and the robots.A dragons tale was another good little ride that excelled our expectations it was a similair experience to the theming was of a nice standard and the ride experience was pleasurable and relaxing, a good family ride and relaxation ride for thrill seekers I love how the effects used the water and the narration and we found the kid more of a childrens ride but because of the effects and theming we enjoyed this quirky little ride.I hope that in my next visit to drayton manor I am able to experience many of the other rides of the park such as pandemoniun and the haunting to see what these rides are like but from what I have encountered at the park so far I found it a wonderful day out and great value for money.
-
me and friends are normal guest we visit sort of once a year, every two years and we find that the themes of rides make for a much better experience despite being what you would call normal riders although we do find the rapids an ok ride as mentioned and it is enjoyable but we feel that it could be improved upon which is what the park seem to want to do lately so hopefully there will be new theming and effects if where lucky.
-
Its a shame they with a bit of rejuvination and some cash put back into the ride they could make it into a great attraction and could act as though it is a new ride generating more custom for the park, I hope you are not right about it taking a long time but sadly I do feel you are right.
-
I agree that rapids is in desperate need of some life being breathed back into the void it has become over these past years of neglect, hopefully we may see something next year :S
-
thanks for the supporting comments :unsure:I like the sound of that idea of course couldn't miss out on that oppurtunity

Disco Ball DreadThe new area which features a large dance hall themed area of an 80’s disco hall which is being plagued by dancing zombies as in world war 2 a dancing competition was held in the hall however the participants where brutally murdered by army forces who invaded and killed them all and they have returned to steal the trophy from the 80’s competitors by killing them. There is a large hall which is used as the base of the area as it houses the roller coaster’s indoor section along with station and the restaurant, shop and loos and photo collection point.Dance floor: This is where shows can be held with famous dance acts coming to perform and battle against the zombie dancers. When not in use for shows the dance floor is used as a place for visitors to dance and features an interactive experience with shaking or vibrating floors, faces in the floors, smog machines and lights shows.Diner: A fast food restaurant.Neon-Boon: A shop.Break Dance:A variant improved model of the Huss break-dance to create a much more thrilling ride themed around the devastation of the zombie’s revenge at the 80’s disco and situated in the dance hall.Commander: A new B&M prototype roller coaster. The queue line is themed around a ballet style dancehall poles and features televisions with pre-show videos explaining the story more to the riders. The ride starts of in the station themed around the dancers changing rooms with costumes rack torn and the room has been attacked with bloody handprints and blood everywhere. The ride starts of exiting the station by travelling along towards a disco ball which turns to reveal a skeleton face with lasers in the eyes for light effects and then turns and drops down and you twist and turn past a large bomb with a timer and then past two zombie figurines attacking a dancer and then you travel upwards and through a laser system light show area towards a trophy at the end in a glass case when alarms go of as you reach the trophy and you quickly turn to face a dancing silhouette when the dancer is attacked and red spurts over the silhouette and you drop down exiting the station as you perform a zero gravity roll. You then travel out through the landscape of the island performing twist and turns and you perform an inline twist over the zombie graveyard scene and then twists and turns past the aeroplane sinking into the water of water on the island and travelling over that are of water to twist and turn across the land rising and falling passing a military hut with overgrowth with watching eyes and then climbing 45 metres and performing an Immelman loop over the lake and then travelling briefly and performing a cobra roll as returning onto land where they pass the zombies eating the soldiers corpses in a graveyard and then you return into the building where you face a commander zombie who presses the detonator and you pass over the bomb as it sprays gas and light effects and you then travel before travelling past the trophy and return to the station.I thought I'd in a new idea I had for the proposed B&M prototype roller coaster I just didn't have the time to add in a plan for the rest of the additions.I thought up this idea and found it rather wacky and odd but thought it would be something good and different for thorpe park and was inspired by kelly rowlands new song commander.
-
I can mostly see what weeby-vuit was talking about I don't think the ride is that well themed and the theme being coherent throught the ride and does not make sense, I think that they should have focused a little more on the theming and creating a story before they opened the ride.

I am glad you got to try rush :PI have to say for me I was nervous to go on it at first to looking at the restraints and the ride but on ym second visit I went on and it has become one of my favourite rides and on my visits it is a must ride.
-
I'm not saying I've based it all on one visit, I've based it mainly on that visit and it put me of going but I am continued to be put of by other bad things that I hear from others with their experiences at alton like my close friends and family and reviews I have read etc.And no I did not just go on the main rides we went on oblivion, spinabll whizzer, rapids, flume, Nemesis, rita, skyride, air, ripsaw, enterprise. These where all we had time for and we only got to ride the coasters once because of the queue's, apart from Nemesis which we did twice.I'm complaining because in my experience I get alot more rides when I go to other parks which is partly why I was put of as previosuly said.People do go for the main roller coaster but I have managed to fit in thorpe parks main rides and several others in the past, granted the queue's are currently rapidly increasing and this is likely to change.I have just been commenting on my experience and the fact that I have been put of by comments by relatives, friends and others.and yes I haven't found there latest projects sufficient, Nemesis and oblivion are great and when you look at rides like rita and th13teen they seem to be very avergae in comparison (I have not riden th13teen yet so I only comment on what I have seen and heard)I would like to visit in the future but for now it's not a priority, and as for people saying you should be on these forums, this is what forums are for expressing your views and opinions, you should go around telling people they can't be on here because of their views because that is discrimination against them as it is there choice to have there own views and express them.
-
Yes I would be put of visiting Thorpe Park if I experienced hideously long queue's for many rides such as I did at Alton Towers, I found ym day that incredibly time consuming in queue's as we waited around an hour or more for the monorail!I'm not basing it on people who have gone on school trips, older family relatives such as cousins and friends that have visited at weekends not just school trips.Well perhaps its because of the growing popularity at thorpe such as alton had tho I have been to thorpe park alot in the past few years and I have never encountered queue's there has hideous as my day at alton.I wouldn't giving it another chance some time, but I certainly won't be rushing to visit alton towers again, I'm waiting to see what there next addition will be like as I'm not entirely sure what to make of their recent project.
-
stop being a pathetic pleb then.If you listened to what I had said, I visited the park and I experienced very abd queueing times which put me of and when I speak to people about alton towers I am put of again by others saying they found the queue's very long and tiring! What I'm saying is what I have generally been hearing so before you have a go at me try reading my comments and actually listening to what I am saying!
