That's quite possible, yes. More downtime really isn't good, especially during peak season. However, I'm sure these issues are not the fault of Merlin whatsoever and of course lie with the contractors who built the ride, as is normally assumed...
I can imagine Thorpe adding extra endings to DBGT and then they can advertise as "Improved for 2017" - "Extra journeys for 2017" etc...
Or, just make it go backwards if it doesn't perform well.

I did mislay my Amity Kebab and the remains of a Stella Cidre shortly before our rides but I swear this is not connected with any ride availability.
Just watched TowersStreet's video... I don't recall seeing the "Breaking News" rolling footage when on the train? If I did, that would have perhaps made it all make a bit more sense
