  1. That was the "fog" bit with random lights I assume? That bit loops when there is a hold up as I understand it!
  2. There was no live actor when the 2nd VR finished. You just get off the train!
  3. Finally got on DBGT on Saturday. Queue was 90 minutes but I figured it was now or next year as I'm unlikely to go back to Thorpe until 2017. The building itself does look very impressive, queue line is also pretty good, the purposely ripped posters are getting more and more ripped though from guests. Thought the 2 photo points were a little pointless/annoying but at least they broke the queue up! Preshow I thought was very good. It was up there with Disney/Universal Preshows if you ask me, hologram looked good, genuinely got you hyped for the ride. Well done there to Thorpe. When you then see the train carriage for the first time - I have to say I was very impressed and it had the "wow" factor, very imposing and visually stunning. Same inside the tube train itself, they've excelled themselves there. Again - this part did get me hyped and excited! My VR headset seemed to work OK (though could've done with being a bit louder) - others in our group had faulty headsets though. This VR section I found pretty good (mainly because it's not computer generated!) and I did love the actor interaction and admit I did jump a couple of times. Then we were rushed off the train (the tube station platform is very good theming wise but you aren't given enough time to enjoy it) and down a tunnel. The next part I thought was quite weak though, the static trains in the tunnels looked particularly fake (in someways it would be better if they weren't there!) - the crashing train effect was pretty good, the "monster", not so much! Back on to the train for 2nd VR section and I must say I completely agree about the fact the graphics are "PS2" like. Really doesn't help scare you if it looks so fake unfortunately. I found this bit quite average (and a bit laughable in parts) - but some obviously were scared of it as the passenger next to me grabbed my arm when she was scared/jumped! And that was that, back through (the very impressive) shop. I wanted to love this ride after all the delays/hype - elements of it are awesome, as I mentioned. Seeing the carriage for the first time is simply epic and imposing. However, the whole thing just feels a bit of a mess and disjointed and I doubt if many people really got what the story was... I'm not convinced the whole fracking/monster thing really works (or is strong enough or hammered home enough to realise what's going on - yes, I know there's the Energy reference on the headsets/adverts but still) - maybe it needs to be just simpler, which at least with it being VR can be changed. Maybe having actual Victorian ghosts would make more sense in the grand scheme of things than fracking monsters! I'd probably say 6 or 7 out of 10 overall, elements are brilliant, but the live action part and 2nd VR section really let it down.
  4. RIP Stealth, Adam and I had the last tide on you, ever. Adam and I had a good time and that's all that matters. It's just a mystery where that Amity Kebab got to, I swear I had it before we went on....
  5. Awesome stuff by the Stealth staff last night - Adam and I got on at about 10:50pm - had two rides, and then went back on to the platform as we decided to go for a 3rd ride, which was announced to be the last of the day... the train however wouldn't move from the offload platform, and they announced there was a fault. Fully expected them to just not let us ride, which would've been cool - but they got an engineer over and fixed it, and we rode just after 11pm Fab stuff Thorpe - all part of an awesome day yesterday!
  6. Or that bloody mechanical monkey used in a teaser!
  7. Stealth opened late today again judging by Twitter - Thorpe Park anticipated it would open late by all accounts. Some downtime for Saw too.
  8. Stealth seems to be misbehaving herself today and yesterday - is that due to the heat? Apologies if that's been asked before
  9. Indeed, there were comments saying they really enjoyed it - but there were more posting about broken headsets/audio, the ride having downtime etc.
  10. Did anyone see the post on Thorpe's FB asking fans to "react" to the Ghost Train - most of the comments below it really aren't very good... just saying!
  11. Is it me or does running down a train track spell a health and safety minefield for people falling over?
  12. But not on 23rd July? Or will that be crazy busy anyway?
  13. I'm feeling too old for the whole of TPM recently to be honest...
  14. I don't like the sound of this... sounds as if the headsets aren't really fit for purpose/up to the abuse that guests throw at them.
  15. Thorpe Park just tweeted a picture that shows a 200 minute queue. That is scary.
  16. Yep I'm yet to ride but my sister who was HYpEd to ride it left feeling a bit unimpressed... she said it was good but not as she amazing as she hoped - and she's not an "enthusiast". She said she didn't really "get it" and it made little sense.
  17. I got bored of waiting for the ride to open so decided to read the spoilers as I'd lost the hype. I could've/would've stayed away if it had been open for my visit in May (meaning a week of not reading things) - I don't go to Thorpe more than once or twice a year and don't have an AP After reading about it though - it does sound impressive and the delays now would make sense as it does sound a bit of a challenge technology wise. Sounds like a proper opening is a little way off still - my sister went on at the weekend and said her VR headset wasn't loud enough and didn't work correctly.

    Slammer

Slammer appears to have been down since 27th June - has she slammed for the final time?
  19. They've shut the queue - which is fair enough if the queue is estimated at 2+ hours.
  20. I can't believe it's coming up to 50 days since I visited and hoped to ride. And yes, just because it's been open doesn't mean there haven't been problems behind the scenes. I still maintain that the ride won't fully open without 7-10 days notice from Thorpe Park, they need to build up the "Hype train" again!
  21. Well that was some awful timing buying that Pinfari Also not what Oakwood need... What's up with Speed? "Closed" (according to the website) sounds far more ominous than "Unavailable" (Bounce)
  22. Indeed - I'm actually genuinely excited to ride the thing again now. I wouldn't have read spoilers if it had opened when it was supposed to mind you, as I would've only had to stay away from them for a week! Leaked info isn't too difficult to find.
