The Chessington Adventure Tree
MattyMoo replied to pognoi's topic in Chessington World of Adventures
Chessington and wood fences just don't seem to go together do they? -
But if the park isn't struggling now - why not bring back SAW Alive all year round too? (PS. To reiterate - I did really really like Containment as an attraction, but to have it year round I think is a mistake)
-
I loved Containment but a year long attraction? Not a good move if that's the plan - SAW Alive didn't work financially as a year round attraction so I can't really see this being any different, unless it is a permanent upcharge being applied, in which case, it maybe could work out. It still irks me greatly seeing SAW Alive sitting there for 80% of the season not being used.

Oh man I want to go back to Orlando. And it's not even been a year yet.

Bit of a niche chart but thought I'd share that my girlfriend's book Reasons To Love A Nerd Like Me is currently #3 on the Young Adult Gay & Lesbian chart on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/bestsellers/books/5346595031/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_b_1_4_last If you have Kindle Unlimited it's free to read, otherwise £2.99 Thought I'd share again as it might be of interest to some on here Very proud of her innit.

Yep - a tube train judging by the yellow poles... I'm thinking some sort of time travel element to the ride - going from a tube train to somehow that Victorian train carriage.
-
My thoughts on this - still - are much the same as before - I'm intrigued and very excited, but due to past Merlin-isms I am wary! I want it to be bloody awesome but wait to ride with baited breath. As I said previously - the Derren tie in for me is a big plus because I really don't think he'd put his name to something if it wasn't any good and he didn't believe in it 100%. I hope it is a game changer and knocks it out of the park, I really do. I also hope it's looked after properly and the little touches don't get forgotten about. I worry that if they can't look after projectors in Smiler's queue line (from past visits), then a few years down the line the abandoned theming of the attraction could be a little *too* realistic I want this to be a turning point for Merlin and Thorpe in a good way. I was - and still am - impressed with the theming around The Swarm and hope that this exceeds that. Having been to Orlando last year, it'll be interesting to compare DBGT with the dark-ride offerings at Universal and Disney.

Oh look, it's a train carriage...
-
A... train you say?
-
I forgot to specify in my joke that the Edgware Road to Hammersmith branch was closed due to engineering work.
-
By the way, in case anyone missed it in August - there may or may not be an Underground carriage in there. Just. Saying. Again.

Derren Brown: The Circle Line (No final stop)

Oh, a train station you say....

You know me too well. To be honest, I'm surprised Jart didn't come on here and tell us that Air was being rebranded as Galactic ahead of any official word.
-
I forgot I had a family commitment on the 2nd so am going to have to dip out I'm afraid, sorry chaps and chapesses.
-
I do like my invisibility cloak on here But I'm glad at least one other person wants to see more of Jart
-
I've been subtly/not so subtly hinting at the fact there'll be an Underground train carriage in there since August
-
Yep I spotted that too
-
Might be coincidence but picture 3 (exterior) does appear to show train tracks in the bottom right...
-
Ohhhh yeah, makes sense now. Learn sumfink new every day innit.

After sharing a Travelodge room with a bunch of TPM'ers earlier this year, I've already seen "more of" some of you already

Whether they are "must-rides" or not, rides SBNO or being removed is never a good thing. I can't say I went to Alton in 2014 to specifically ride Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and Hex - but I was glad that I did ride both of them, and they added a bit of variation to the day - plus they were both inside which helped greatly considering the god awful weather. Six rides unavailable is quite a chunk of the line up - I am intrigued as to what the map will say, I guess it will just pretend they don't exist! 2016 is going to be a very interesting year for the public and fanbois alike going to Merlin parks.

The track was installed by B&E Erectors. The same guys who are working on WC16. Groundwork was by TG Cruse - who were involved with SAW, Swarm and Thirteen also. I know from dealing with TG Cruse, they are anything but crap - quite the opposite - as with regards to drainage, as I understand it, that issue was pointed out during construction to Merlin.
