http://www.myfoxla.com/story/25540631/accident-at-disneyland-temporarily-closes-ride Big fat non story, but mildly interesting none the less.

Yes, lap bars on dodgems are a relatively new thing. They are sooo much better without.

In some ways I think it is good they haven't, gives the place more versatility to use for other things or variations in what's shown in a few years once the angry birds thing has faded a bit.

Colossus is riding really well this year. None of the coasters are in 'such a state' that they need to even consider getting rid, in the same way that Alton did with Corkscrew. Some of the flats may be approaching the end of their lives though, where the maintenance becomes not economically viable, but even they still ride ok the majority of the time.

maybe they don't want interest yet? it can destroy the first half of the season if people know something big is coming half way through, too many people hold off. this way they might get people to visit twice, if anything big is actually happening .

They can class it as blancmange for all I care, it is made of steel with some wood and great swathes of the structure containing no wood at all , it ain't a woodie. If you are going to believe their words despite what your eyes tell you, then 'no' to you!

Came home from work the other day to find wifey had spilt tea over the laptop. Damn. I can look at it, cut and paste, but the keyboard doesn't work, so I'm phone only at the mo. My posts might be a little sparse and short for a while. And I'll be having a word with the wife!

Wow, great vid. The tunnel of frog song is one of my strongest memories of the place back then, love it. Slides into the park from the upper level of the dome should return, that's a great way to enter a park!

Wondering if it was all really that bad I thought I'd have a look at just how screwed financially DLRP are and found this interesting (if rather number heavy) article from yesterday. The answer, still really really screwed. Not only are they in massive massive debt, they are still in a position where that debt is actually growing Driven by a revenue decrease of 4% from the park and 6% from the hotels with 59,000 fewer rooms sold over the last 6 months. It's not all bad, guest satisfaction is actually increasing, and some of the like for like decreases are due to Easter being later this year, but wow. The numbers involved are mind boggling. It's hard to see how they will ever make a profit, who the hell is it that is still pumping money in? They must be crazy!

Vortex spent many years being very reliable, but now it is knackered. High force rides (ie, more complex than spinning such as a breakkdance or polyp) designed to travel do not last well in theme parks. Get a breakdance in there.

BS. The barriers are a frustrating nightmare even when the park is quiet. It's the road that's rarely a problem, the barriers always are.

Don't know about saving it, but they're getting their own bespoke major attraction this year and that's unlikely to be enough. They need more and they are screwd financially, clones are much cheaper and have proven popularity, so it would make sense.

You been then? Coaster looks alright, have no idea what the point of 'aquatrax' is though.

I think Midway Mania would fit so well as a main attraction in playland, but I'm a bit of a sucker for the ride. It's so much fun, more so than it should be for what it is really. I wonder if it could be 'evolved' into including physical sets between the screens, and also with a bit of a cleverer design to get the throughput up. I'm with you on Snoarin', I really don't understand or its popularity. Americans just like to see pro American things and whoop at them I guess. The video is cut together so poorly (although that might have been improved now?) it's barely better than a cine180, that destroys any sense of it being a real experience. Would hate to see one over here. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Autopia's days were numbered, it seems to be an absolute nightmare to keep running, would be a shame to see it go though. Not a fan of Star Wars myself, so there's plenty else I'd rather see ahead of it but I'm sure it would be crazy popular so maybe that rumour is not so unlikely. If I could bring in anything from America into the main park it would be Mickys PhilharMagic (as the park is lacking any sort of show off peak, and just because it's an amazing perfect slice of Disney), Indian Jones, and (obviously) a Splash Mountain-a-like of some description.

Angry Bird's Ministry of Sound Thorpe Park Meet 5th July 2014
pluk replied to AJ 's topic in TPM 2014 Meets
Some of my thoughts on last years MoS meet. It really is a great night, maybe slightly disjointed between rides and club, and not cheap, but well worth it. A group of us shared a cab and a room off site and really wasn't much money, I can't remember but something like £40 sounds about right. I'm pretty sure it works out more if you stay on resort site. -
But rather than being separate trains it was an omnimover continuous string of carriages type system that turned towards each scene.
