  1. Only a max of 3 adults due to Chessington's ridiculous H+S policies. It was built wrong so it can't run with a heavy car basically. In wet weather it only runs 2 people per car.
  2. Good luck! I hope you get it and you enjoy your time there.

10 years ago?! That makes me feel so old because I remember my excitement even back then.

I remember the plans for the Vekoma Motorbike coaster that would've intertwined with The Flume. Ahhh the days. But yeah there's a huge chunk of space there that could have something awesome in it, but instead has The Flume.
  7. The building is 199ft tall. This is to avoid having the flashing beacon that would be required if it was 200ft or over. I think the actual evevators go slightly underground... #spoilers
  8. Just because it was a quick fix after the fire burning wwh down, doesn't make it any less of a good ride for me! I suppose the theme is... well I guess it doesn't really have a theme; but the actual ride experience is one of the best I've had when it comes to drop towers.
  9. Thorpe has plenty of flat rides, more than most other parks! And detonator is a lot more forceful than intamin drop towers. If there's anything Thorpe lacks it's a good dark ride!
  10. Let it be obvious from the start that this topic is in no way serious; the aim of the topic is simply to come up with fairly ridiculous ways to 'improve' the Dark Forest themed area of the Alton Towers Resort. This topic is 'photoshop' friendly so enjoy the example post: 'I would improve the Dark Forest with... Dragons.' This is supposed to be a bit of fun. Any useful points that contribute to actual discussion should be directed here in the Th13teen topic.
  11. Sorry I misinterpreted your post because you were talking about restraints! Don't worry...

It's re-ridability would definitely suffer without the break in the ride; I could barely handle it with the break included.
  13. Can anyone else come forward if they've had this problem?!
  14. Not sure what you mean Benin. I for one think Tatsu is as smooth and comfortable as Air.
  15. Beaten to it by Josh! Surely the ending would be horrendous and crush you?!

I was just thinking the exact same thing. Maybe because the following element (corkscrew) is a similar height and there's a chance it wouldn't make it round? But the second lift is after that so there would be no problems from then onwards.

I totally loved it. And I want the 75 minute one playing all day every day. Actually that would get a bit extreme. Although I am now fairly obsessed with The Smiler; sad times living in the south.

    Top 10's

I THINK.. I THINK THIS TIME IT'S GOING TO WORK. Warning, coolant level rising... NO.. NOOOO. ^ That is clearly why. When it comes to the hulk I'm a big fan of the very different start to any other B&M, and the first inversion. But after that it does seem very samey and I'm not a fan of the floating corkscrew or the horrendous jank straight after it. Yeah I'm clueless Ryan. :/
  19. Unfortunately there's no consistency! I would love to believe they'll run everything well from now on but I just know it's luck of the draw depending on what day you go, what teams are working...
  20. But it still does hold the record for being the world's first 10 looping rollercoaster. Just like Dragon Khan holds the record for being the world's first 8 looping rollercoaster!

I would say they were both barrel rolls but to be honest it doesn't really matter; they're great.
  22. No need for me to do a blog, I 100% agree. Although it needs to be said that the metal grating over the queue makes it horrendously claustrophobic, and it's a shame the best views of the ride are from outside the queue in my opinion. Every picture I've taken looks the same simply because there is just a tangled mess of supports and twisty black track. Really good ride and in a mini-report I wrote (and deleted as it's the same as this), I gave it an 8.5 too so we're on the same page. Love it, already planning my next trip!
