  1. For anyone who can't be bothered to click the link. Maybe a pass that allows you into every Fright Nights after a certain time like 4?
  2. 5 rides on Summer Nights Friday just gone were amazing! Loved every single one! And on another note, Saw stalled today and opened at about 4. WOO.
  3. Yeah applauding out there means nothing. The 8 times we did Rip Ride Rokit while we were out there in December at least half the train would clap when returning to the station and the staff clap on many of the rides to. They're probably just clapping as they survived. But it's big and bash so Americans will love it.
  4. I'm sorry but the arena isn't used enough to warrant it being there just in case they get some same old repetitive BMX people in over summer. Apart from 20 so days at Fright Nights it is hardly used! The only thing it's been used for this year is storage and a school meeting point over trips week. It's just a waste of space! It is prime location for a dark ride. You can build a nice large building and not have to worry about obscuring the locals views as it will be in the core of the park. It will use up space which is unused and noticeable (at least the Fungle site is behind a fence and out of the way!) Whilst entertainment is good, it doesn't pull guests in! The park have 2 stages on park now for performances (Tidal Wave and The Dome), you have the 4D cinema, they can always put a stage up by Stealth like they've always mentioned on the MTDP or have BMX over there which they've even done before. We also had Braniac Live over Easter in the Asylum building. I'd much rather they developed the arena into something before opening up another one of the new islands with just one attraction and it feels empty or is a pain to get to (Swarm!). The new islands are primarily for coasters as well because of the lack of space in the core of the park!
  5. Cheat-a-lot V2.0 has joined I didn't come last last season which I was impressed with so I'm looking at keeping it that way
  6. Blair Witch did eventually have a nice queue line like all the mazes (metal fences). There was also some work going on in Saw Alive today.
  7. Thought it'd be worth mentioning, there is now a gate in the queue line so you don't have to walk around the cattlepen extension section (unless it's busy enough to warrant it but I doubt it'll ever be that busy).
  8. Coasters: B&M for the pure fact all there rides are at least good. None try to kill you (that I've been on). Vekoma when they work with Disney should also get a mention, Everest is amazing and Grizzly Gulch looks brill too! Gerstlauer when they don't work with Merlin are pretty good too, maybe because they're good at small/medium ish projects but can't stand up to large scale ones. Maurer Sohne do some wacky stuff which I admire but some of it really isn't necessary (looking at you Humpty Bumpty lift hill on G-Force!). I'd love to mention Mack high up but I've only done Flying Fish and rides like that Premier also get a mention purely for The Mummy and it's fab little coaster section after the launch! Flat: I don't really like spinning so I'm not really a big fan of many flat rides. I'd have to say S&S because of Rush and Hot Seat (smaller version at Fun Spot USA). Thorpe Park engineering is another good one with Slammer, Zierer also with Air Race and that clever restraint system. So yeah, coasters B&M, flats S&S. And just to mention Mack... water rides Mack
  9. I'd be surprised if they didn't do something over the bank holiday weekend at least but I doubt it'll be SunScream purely because that event has been so overdone. Taking it they used to do essentially the same thing over Easter too with the silent discos, random BMX people and so forth. If they come up with an original event like they did with the Big Easter then yes. Braniac Live again yes please! That was one of the best things the park have done entertainment wise in years. Why do they to have an event though if you know it's going to be busy already? Not like you need it to pull the guests in, you've got Summer Nights on the Fridays and Saturdays, Showcase Live on the Saturdays (and other days too like on Friday there was someone on park performing by Tidal Wave so there's nothing to say they won't get a few acts in each day of that week). And the fact they're trialling Reserve'n'Ride as well means there's enough going on, what with FlowRider as well if the weather is good! And just a thing about the last trial they did on Reserve'n'Ride, it can be quite a slow system to update the queues virtually. The virtual queue for Colossus (which we had a slot for) was over just under 2 hours, on a Friday in June! The actual queue, non existent! Even with "standby" queue being allowed on! The ride was walk on (remembering this is when they were allowing Resrve'n'Ride, Fastrack and main queue to be open) and it took another hour for the system to adjust the times to "ride right now." Will be very interesting to see how it copes over the busy period.
  10. So basically my car has failed its MoT and it's not worth the money to get it to pass. Hopefully I'll have a new car in time but money will be a serious issue. This means it's going to be very unlikely I can go (unless I get a lift with someone )
  11. They actually don't look tacky in person! Zodiac seriously needs to leave, it's either always breaking down or open and not even getting to vertical. I'm sure if they wanted to, they could go to Zamperla and make a custom shell that isn't a plane.
  12. An Air Race to replace Zodiac.
  13. It's closure had nothing to do with the bad press. It was decided in the early summer last year that it was to be Asylum's last year, it's just coincidental that it looks like it's not returning because of the PR it caused. The closure is in no way linked to all the complaints it got.
  14. So Hogwarts Express has already had a million riders and it's only been open slightly longer than a month! Not bad going. http://screamscape.com/html/universal_studios_florida.htm#General Linky to read about it if you want
  15. Must be because Trip Advisor voted it best... Doesn't look fun at all. Blackpool will do alright in the first two weeks as many people go on holiday to Blackpool, unlike the lovely town of Chertsey! (Thorpe had 13k+ on Thursday but it has been fluctuating randomly entirely based on weather).
  16. So went with a friend yesterday and it was a really good day, hardly any queues! They were a Stealth newbie which I haven't had in a few years so inevitably, after spending since January convincing them they have to go on it, we headed straight there at ERT, first train of the day, front row. The reaction was priceless Especially as the "3,2,1 go go go" wasn't working so the launch was a serious surprise! They loved it though, so we went straight on to back row afterwards and ended up doing it 5 times. Not bad considering I was only expecting to do it once! Once all the rides had opened, we didn't see any of them go down (minus Storm Surge but that's more of a celebration), once everything had settled queues were no longer than 20 minutes and by 5 everything was pretty much walk on! (Even when they took a train of the coasters for Summer Nights). We were tempted to stay for Summer Nights but as we got on so much during the day and the heavens opened at 6:50 we decided not to bother. RIDE COUNT!: Stealth: 5 Swarm: 4 Inferno: 3 X: 3 Colossus: 2 Rush: 2 Saw, Vortex, Slammer, Samurai, Loggers, Zodiac, Banana Boat, Rocky, Rumba, Dodgems, Detonator: 1
  17. I don't see why people are worrying about the possibility of losing a maze just yet. Universal have only recently begun announcing their mazes and that event is massive and starts two/three weeks earlier than Fright Nights. We're only just entering the busy summer season (as these past 2 weeks are supposedly quiet), once we're into the height of the Summer holidays I'm sure we'll start seeing more marketing heavily aimed towards Fright Nights, and that's when we'll know. After all, why do they have to mention all the mazes they have on the job description? Maybe they've got a few plans and it hasn't all been fully agreed. The website uses "including" when listing the 4 known mazes. Okay that doesn't guarantee we'll see other stuff but it does imply others may happen.
  18. Premium and V.I.P pass holders can book their free tickets for the Fright Night season now: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/fright-nights-tickets-for-premium-and-vip-annual-pass-holders-tickets-12288297629 Standard and Thorpe annual pass holders can also book their £5 tickets now. The little logo for the event has also changed from the cartoony ghost to a hand sticking out the ground with some bats around https://www.thorpepark.com/events-experiences/events/fright-nights/ There will probably be an Annual Pass preview night on Friday the 10th of October too but that's purely speculation.
  19. Forget this new coaster, their current ones look great in the dark Who knew they could make a Vekoma look that pretty Can't wait to visit this place one day
  20. The Saw IP won't be going anywhere in the near future. Yes they're new main target is families but they aren't going to change Saw, it is a crowd puller. No matter what you think of the ride itself, it is the ride people talk about most, "you been on that Saw ride yet" "oh yeah the place with Saw." It is what it is and it's here to stay, it has the longest queue out of the coasters most of the time (don't say that's because of throughput, it's because people are willing to wait that long, they don't go in thinking "oh I hope this has a high throughput," Gringotts showed this along with many Disney attractions that people will wait hours on end). Whilst the sawmill looked good and original, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as popular as Saw. It's the name, it's the same with all IPs. The adverts do the job just by throwing the IP name at you! And the Lionsgate partnership for Fright Night just shows that this theme is going no where any time soon.
  21. It's gone for a week but will be back. (Don't know why)
  22. Not just that but also the fact the Universal have announced that they are opening a Harry Potter land for 2016 with Forbidden Journey and Hogsmeade we'll have to go Matt so you can experience it
  23. So if I told you that the trees behind the wooden fence (the old queue and entrance to Fungle) are tagged as well that something might be happening here? Because that is the case
  24. Have a good morning guys, enjoy it while you can... see you this evening
