If it fits your plans, leave the more popular rides until lunch time, and split your refreshments into two breaks, if you must eat.
Stealth today had consistent queues of over one hour. Likewise Nemesis Inferno.
There is apparently an app. to access on the phone giving q times, but don't ask this dinosaur for more details on that.
If you are visiting on your own, try to let the staff know, it can help. Enjoy your day.
As Tactic suggests, and especially if there are plenty of coach loads, leave some of your favourites until after 4p.m..

    Thanks Josh, and others.
There was a single riders queue on the right hand stairs a few years back, before they designated that as a "disabled access".
The stories of Rita and Stea!th being designed as one ride have some truth. Height restrictions at AT and space at TP resulted in the split. Who else feels the the drop from the top hat has wasted power/potential? So many riders go on about getting a "rollback" yet in reality it's a waste of ride time, though for those who have stood in the queue it would be like getting a double ride.

Luckily for the humans, nobody was hit, the damage was under the front of the train, but as happens with pigeons, an explosion of feathers.

planenut reacted to JoshC. in JoshC. to appear on Countdown!
I'll be making my television debut and appearing on classic quiz show Countdown! My debut is this Friday (Oct 28th), airing at 2.10pm on Channel 4, and of course available on catch up after.

There'll also be a bit of geeky chatter and roller coaster puns, because of course they run with me being a roller coaster enthusiast and turned it into my entire personality (not far wrong tbf).

Would be lovely if anyone gave my episodes a watch!

A young "lady" today asked me if her eye lashes had moved, I assured they had not, but everything else had!

I’ve only just seen this!  Reminds me a bit of my younger sister who considers the flying jumbos something of a breakthrough for her personally.  I took her to Chessie 3 years ago with my nephews and she wouldn’t even go on Scorpion express or the log flume.  My niece and I went on Rameses and my sister looked genuinely concerned 🤣🤣.

Also I’m creasing at the term “digestive evacuation” - brilliant!  Speaking of stealth, my younger sister had a job that she had to drive sort of near to Thorpe and asked if I’d ever done “that big white tall arch thing”

For a long time I have commented on how different people are, physically, emotionally, interests and hobbies. I knew that a sister of mine was not interested in rides, roller coasters or flat, and she often wondered about my mental state. However, I did not expect that having shown her a video of Stealth, she would have to dash to the bathroom for a digestive evacuation!
at least I know she will never be in my way at a theme park.

Clearly not many posts on this park but I was there last Saturday when the temperature was around the thirty degree mark, and Drenched was so, so welcome. Four times on the ride, and four times on the bridge - I don't get that wet in a bath.

Sorry to hear of your mishap, I hope you had your arms up on that theatre ride.

Perhaps if you suggest a couple of dates, there would be someone happy to partner up? Good luck.

A woman sat next to me on Stealth today, and she said to me "are you scared". I said "I don't know you that well" .

Well, I’m not quite sure what to make of this, but by some absolute miracle, I somehow managed to get 91/100 on a university assignment!

This was even in a module I really struggled with and I didn’t think I would do very well in, which makes it even more surprising…

I’m not entirely sure that I deserve this grade, and a small part of me is worried it’s a joke, with the real feedback hidden somewhere else, but I’m certainly very happy to have attained this grade (well above the threshold for a First)!

planenut reacted to Mark9 in “Size isn’t everything”… or is it?
To be honest, I don't think size has anything to do with quality of a ride. My two favourite B&M inverters for example are Katun and Nemesis. One is absolutely mahoosive and the other is tiny. Quality normally holds out so GCI for example, generally are a excellent manufacturer whether thats Wodan or Wicker Man.

B&M Hypers, I think at the end of the day is personal preference. Not much separates any of them, in fact for me the only 300ft one I've done is Leviathan and that was nowhere as interesting as Behemoth in the same park.

The highest ride I've done I hated. Much love Dragster, but I hate everything about you.

I am often surprised by the differences between people. Our likes and dislikes are affected by our physical and emotional states, either temporary or permanent and has brought me to the conclusion that if we all liked the same thing, there'd be one heck of a queue for what we like.

It really has been a mixed bag of news at Drayton recently.

The new additions in the Adventure and Viking areas. Adding and renovating current attractions and the rumours of new ones. Including a potential coaster.

The apocalypse removal is honestly a massive blow for both the park and the UK. But perhaps also not a surprising one given the ride’s reliability issues and potential direction of the park.

No I agree @planenut! I know what you mean.
It's weirdly peaceful up there isn't it! 🥴

What a shame it's on the way out - it's such a huge ride, both physically in the park and 'iconically' (yeah whatever) in the UK.

It's 22 years old now though isn't it, and is fast becoming 'the odd-one-out' at DM.
It's falling in to disrepair and looks very tatty now compared to the new shiny areas they're putting in.

As for what's next, Apocalypse itself doesn't take up much space (being a drop-tower), but clearing this, along with the large tarmac area in front, as well as the neighbouring unused footprint of Pandemonium and Test Track - that's a large space available.

Here's hoping for a nice coaster on this site.  Something Wickermanny / Th13teeny!

EDIT: I don't think I quite realised until now how major the Drayton turnaround actually is.
The new areas look really good, and they clearly have big plans for the place.
    The future is looking good!

That would be a great shame to lose Apocalypse. I do like that one, along with it's variation of riding, but they have had maintenance problems with it over the last couple of years, and that also relates to costs of manufacturing bespoke parts.
The height provides a somewhat magical view of the surrounding countryside in the early morning; I know I'm weird.

Many thanks to everyone answering the question! The suggestion to start with Nemesis / Stealth worked really well, as we got in essentially without queueing. In the end we managed 19 rides (we didn't do dodgems, high striker, the 4D cinema, storm surge and depth charge), including all the major rides. A bit sad we didn't manage to get into storm surge, but 30 minutes of queueing seemed a bit unreasonable for what it offered...!

Easily over 25 on stealth in a row on a mega dead day in september 2019, no queue, gate by unload platform open, straight back round.

It certainly is dependent on the access and length of the ride. A tiring day at Universal, Rip Ride Rocket using the single rider queue, therefore those stairs, and with permission, a staff gate, got me to 77 rides.
Stealth is my favourite but though the team tried to count, they lost it and I know that days count won't be beaten. I consider myself lucky if I get a bonus ride. The ride will shut down if the sensors detect weight on the train between offload and load.
I did like Slammer, but a one off and for me, not re-rideable.
