Ski Jump was rock rage just with a different theme for winter wonderland- it should change back now that winter wonderland has ended. Where did you go on it? It sometimes depends on where you go on it as at funparks the cars aren't flipped very much and stick a lot. Also, if the ride is busy, the cars again sticks and you get a very short cycle. When I have been on it recently, I had a great cycle where my car flipped loads and I just really love the ride- especially when it goes all the way over

That's a mobile link so I'm not sure if it will work on many computers... Anyway, yes I have been on rock rage and if is superb That one should work... I know it's a diff vid but I'm just using your great vid instead of the one you loaded up

The shameful thing is, that ride replaced an awesome ride called 'speed flip' which replaced another awesome ride called 'tornado 2'(which is now travelling at funfairs across the UK). Look what we have ended up with... A ride which I daren't even go near!

Oh my god Han aren't those miamis just so horrible! I was so desperate to get off I felt like I was going to fall out and die! I will go on a Miami with secure lap bars but never one with just one for the whole row- never again!!
-
The KMG Freakout is programmed with 3 cycles which all the freakouts use... There is no way to change the cycles etc.(except for john davis X Flight which can be run on manual for some reason). For me, the worst ride was the 'big wave Miami' in a funfair in germany. It was absolutely awful as the bar was way high above everyone and there was only one thin metal bar for the WHOLE ROW. The cycle went on forever and ever and I just wanted it to stop because it felt like I was going to fall out. Everyone's legs were also flinging everywhere aswell- oh it was just awful I hated it!!

If ghost trains are executed well then I will generally enjoy them. However, the general funfair ghost trains are almost empty and are just awful. But I heard the one at brean was good so if they are like that then I certainly don't have anything against them...

I think vortex does need the 'full maintenance' in a sense though; I think after slammer it is probably the ride which needs fixing/doing up the most. Vortex has not had a great season and has been broken on a lot of my trips and when I have ridden it, it has had problems... The vibrating at the start for one thing; I mean it's not the end of the world that it shudders however sometimes the start is pretty violent. It is has been closed a lot this season for various reasons which I don't know of however I know one time it failed to stop swinging and they had to spend ages trying to get it to stop and closed the ride. I mean, it's about 13 isn't it? That's not too old in the age of rides however the performance of vortex is absolutely awful, the spinning is slow and the fact that you only get the top/bottom side means that if you have queued for ages and get the bottom, you are feeling like it has been an utter waste of your time. Also my other problem with vortex is the cycle and the general operation. I tend to think the ride team are making the queue going as fast as possible however although they are doing this, the ride still takes ages to start up. The bar check, although making people feel secure, is unecessary I think as it takes about a minute or two and the bars can be seen as locked with the green lights on top of the seats; I am not sure if this is necessary though. The ride called also start spinning as the platform was lowering or just start swinging and spinning straight away once the platform is lowered. The ride takes a while to load and unload and on sunscream the queue was 90 minutes for the shortest cycle I have ever seen and the queue length was the same as samurai. I would love to see vortex improved, both cycle and operations for next year. Also, I would maybe like to see the queueline done up a bit as it is a bit scruffy. Although vortex is hopefully being improved and should be improved, I think there are things which need doing up in the park aswell so I hope these get done up over the closed season(rumba, Colossus etc...)

Stealth dispatches every 1-2mins with a car of 20pph and has a throughput of 1000pph. The mondial turbine does have the same capacity but the throughput is much lower as it takes longer to load/unload and the cycles would have to be longer as I'm sure a 20 second ride on a turbine would not be very enjoyable at thorpe and would be way too short after a very long queue. Considering samurai only takes 500pph(if that) with 30 seats I am almost certain the turbine would not make over that. This would result in a terrible throughput like vortex which now probably only does about 300pph because of the time it takes to start up and stop etc. I can remember at sunscream when vortex had a 90 minute queue for 1 top swing and it was just awful. And the queue length was literally the same length as the samurai queue which was only 30 minutes. If I'm perfectly honest I would much see slammer stay as the ride is so unique and the throughput is much higher. I just love slammer and love to freefall on it, the ride experience is so amazing, I just can't bear to see it go #emotionally attached

I have been on Crows Topbuzz2 and Xtreme Rieger and they are both amazing topscans in my mind... To be honest I didn't really know where I was because it was going so fast and we kept getting chucked about everywhere. To be honest the fact that it goes so fast means that you can't see anything but one hell of a ride those topscans are!

Guess you chose badly eh? I've never been on gladiator or star flyer so unfortunately I cannot comment but to me they looked like decent rides! However, in general if you compare funfair flat rides to theme park flat rides they are run on much better settings...
-
Mine has to be Sedgewick's Rock rage however I also love Parish's extreme, Crow's King Frog and Jason Gray's XLR8 Oh yea, I forgot to mention Danter's air and Crow's Topbuzz2 which I also love! I seem to love all rides tbh

It is definately forbidden to film on the rides at thorpe park/merlin attractions. I have emailed in before regarding this and they said that there is no way which you would be able to film on one of their rides. However, regarding this, I have seen many onride videos on youtube of the rides so I am guessing that these people have just broken the rules and gone on with cameras. People at thorpe usually get away with this however at alton towers I have seen them stop the rides before just to remove people's cameras. The safest bet is to email in yourself however if they say no I would reccomend not taking your cameras on the rides. Also, just wondering, what strap is this? Might be interested in getting one!

I wish they could, I mean it could work well in chessington, however the only problem is the horribly low throughput and the fact that it only generates about 200pph(which I think rameses revenge did anyway because barely anyone rode it) however if lots of people wanted to ride the KMG inversion then a massive queue would form and the ride would just not take enough people unfortunately... Yes it was You should have gone on it- it is insane but epic! After you have had your first go on Rock rage it's absolutely fine afterwards but it is one of my favourite rides that I have ever been on

I would like to see Merlin in the UK's rides being maintained instead of all being destroyed and replaced after a while. I don't like how theme parks tend to fight over 'steepest drop' or some tacky record and I would rather have a quality ride with good themeing and working effects instead of a poor ride with a record which really does not do much to improve the parks satisfaction rate. My views on Merlin's parks in the UK have changed recently, instead of them just trying to go round beating other parks I would like to see them make the most of their abilities. I see in other parks around the world, a nice, well maintained park with good themeing and decent rides. It seems to me that the smaller parks tend to do a better job of this as they cannot afford to go for the big records like the other parks can. Whilst the take on the themeing has been increased, the quality of the themeing isn't great and is sometimes unecessary and can come across as rushed. I am not saying that Merlin don't do well on themeing I just think the quality could be much better. I think thorpe park have certainly improved on their whole appearance and I hope they continue to as this is what I think makes a better park. My point is...? Well, if the rides are replaced, it means that merlin are trying to win over the guests with big rides and records etc. which could well work but therefore means the quality of the rides and the appearance goes downhill. I would rather see rides being kept, improved and better themed throughout the years. So what if the ride is old? It doesn't mean it has a bad experience... Some of the oldest rides still existing to date are some of the best, in vienna at the prater they have a Ferris wheel from 1897 still running well! Just because there is a record to be beaten, it doesn't mean it has to be beaten, the money could be used to improve on the exisiting rides instead of buying new ones altogether. Yes of course, it is good to invest in new rides every so often but instead of buying new rides all the time and expanding, I would rather see Improvements across the parks which have actually seemed to be happening more this year(with the exception of chessington which I hope picks up for next year). My hope is that for the future, the rides at thorpe park and for all the other parks infact last and get most use out of them, with changes being made if necessary. I would like to see improvements on the themeing and appearance instead of replacing with new rides altogether. I think thorpe park seem to have realised that new rides aren't everything and that maintaining the rides is a much better option. Of course, at the end of the day they may have to be replaced if it costs too much to maintain but if they can maintain it as long as possible then it will make the most of its ride life. This is what thorpe are trying to do with slammer, keep it going and I congratulate them for that! I see william wilsons superbowl running still from the 1980s and still looks amazing and still run relatively well so I don't see why thorpe's rides can't last that long. I hope the rides have as long a life as possible and appearance etc. is improved over the years!

Just to say, I have had really good an poor rides on air. Similarly with samurai: the cars flip by themselves therefore meaning you can get either a really intense ride or a boring slow ride which is the unfortunate thing about air. It's just luck I guess!
-
Seems like it is quite popular though... Did all the rides have 45min queues aswell or was it just the santas grotto with an extremely low throughput!?
-
You can't get your hopes up with chessington... Last year I went zoo days on half term and I queued for 30 mins for the monkey walkthrough to find out that the monkeys were inside the hut because it was too cold for them to be out. The walkthrough was meant to be very good however I was very upset as I wasted my time for nothing!!!
-
I'm suprised they even opened up the rides as they were meant to be closed and chessington are doing poorly so I didn't expect any to open. I guess it's just because the zoo is half closed and there is no 'festiveness' so they are trying to compensate!? Oh dear chessie, u really need to sort your park out!
