  1. No, if you read back a few pages you'll see I'm 100% for this tunnel removal. Exactly, it won't ruin everyones day. Let's remember the main part of this ride is the double-drop. And here we are all focusing on some poxy tunnel that is no more. When it was there you went in it and out the other end so quickly, it was past you before you knew it. So if I rode the entire ride and got to the main double-drop I'd be like "where was the tunnel, what was that?" I have no building or architectural experience. However, I do think your estimation of £25k is well out. If they were to rebuild the tunnel, I can't see it being that much, although I can't put a figure on it. As we can see, the emergency lighting is still there, so I can see it being rebuilt.
  2. It must be about 6 years since they were last replaced, and that bright red.
  3. Yeah, I use my standard web browser in desktop mode, only problem is that when post it freezes my phone! That app is called Tapatalk, I haven't tried it. Also, if I'm in town and near a shop with iPads in, nothing like popping in for a quick check!
  4. OK, I'll look when I visit, but by the sound of things it sounds like it was hardly worth it for such a small section of track.

I actually witnessed a brief case of no way out back in 2009. I was queing inside when a cheeky lad decided to queue jump. A guy about 3 places ahead of us didn't like this, squared upto him, and the queue jumper was set upon by several guys. Eventually, it escalated and the fight somehow moved back through the queue, before the queue jumper was cornered by these guys, near a fire exit. Somehow my mate who was queing nearby managed to pull it apart and pin the original guy (who didn't like the jumper) up against the wall - single-handed. The fire exit door then flung open, and security from outside removed the queue jumper. Job done. Unfortunately the guy who squared upto the queue jumper remained in the queue and got his ride, much to the disappointment of many who believe he should've been thrown out for his actions. The security guard who attended was the guy with a turban - anyone remember him? He doesn't work there anymore. I don't know his name but he didn't take anything lying down, as on the way out of the ride my mate and I spoke to him about the fight, and his response was "Nobody comes into my park and ****s about!"
  6. I'm on an Android phone, and I see there is a paid app that supports this forum. Don't really wanna pay for an app, does anyone know of a free one that supports this forum?

Do you mean fancy her or like her music? Both! I first read about her in the Evening Standard before hearing the tune on the John Lewis advert before Christmas! In other news, I wish Skrillex would release some more music! I know he teamed up with ASAP Rocky for the recent tune. But I really can't get enough of his unique insane approach to what he pumps out! And I also want more from Knife Party, although I've heard a lot of their stuff online!
  8. Oh. My. God. I dunno whether to laugh or cry. It's liked being slapped in the face with a wet fish. At the moment it looks so bland and out of place, but we'll get used to this. But I'll never like it. The name doesn't even shout at you! I need a flaming microscope to read those pissy little signs! The interior looks OK but shouts Burger King to anyone who remembers the inside before. And the word "in" on the wall is missing its I. Note too how it's the Vampire's Burger Kitchen - not Transylvania's! Morons. I blame CWOA, Merlin, and Eclipse Developments, the refurb company who did this. Adam from Theme UK gave us some good updates, although I didn't like the changes throughout, I recall a graphic of a chap and a big burger placed on the wall - obviously that was shelved. Picture below:
  9. You're not alone there. Even John Wardley would admit that.

There was even a flamin' remix of it played by Annie Mac on Radio 1 lastnight (what a legendry darling she is). Not sure who remixed it.

The only funny thing about that is the bad spelling, plus Saran's profile pic of the cat!
  12. I can't see the bunny hop repaint from the picture, I'm sure I'll spot it next time I visit.
  13. Ha, no worries mate. Must be a god pub, I'll note it down!
  14. This repaint is such old news and it's done the rounds so many times. I've got used to it not being done now, and it's dragged on for quite so long I couldn't give a toss whether they repaint it or not. Clean the oil off, yes, and tart up the cobra roll pit, but it's clear now that after all these years of it not being done, that Thorpe have got other priorities at the top of their list, and Colossus, if it is on the list is getting pushed further and further to the bottom each year. You are to be congratulated. Well said. What's been done to the station, inside or out?
  15. Ooh, the red tunnel lights, ain't seen them on in a while! Nemesis is 10 on 4th May - glad to see the entrance has been repainted, it's looked shoddy the last few years.

The entrance is looking smart with just the X above it - just a shame Storm Surge obstructs its view as you come down the ramp towards it.
  17. A pub in St Albans, what's that gotta do with Loggers Leap? No, it was one of them bears from the CCR. There are some interesting comments on a photo that TPBlog posted on their Facebook page. One mentions fire damage, the other about it rotting, hence getting rid of it. The latter seems to be more likely, if there was a fire, it would've made it into the news somewhere on the net! And I think we need to draw ourselves away from this "oh no, it's gone for good" way of thinking. From the pictures that have emerged so far, what they have done looks very temporary and incomplete. I wouldn't be suprised if more work is due to be done on this, and a whole new tunnel could be built later in the season. Half of me is convinced it's not gone for good.
  18. Headeze - what a name (gives me an idea if I ever I changed from RideAddict). Another classic Thorpe brand then. Guess we'll never see their FHM magazine on the shelves! Yes, glad to see it's working at the beginning of the season, let's hope they keep it up and use it more regularly now! Roughly how long have the queues been today? However long they have been, you can't really take it as an average for the rest of the year, being a friends and family day today. From what I remember, last there was a main entrance and a fastrack entrance. Looking at that picture, I'm guessing that all they've done is merge last year's main entrance to make it a main and fastrack for this year, and used last year's fastrack entrance for the backwards rows this year. I haven't been today, anyone who has, please correct me if I'm wrong. Well Thorpe is a village close to the M3 and M25, hardly in the countryside, especially with so many lakes around. And with Staines and Chertsey towns nearby, London is not that far! Plus Staines is a hole! OK, so having seen the various updates on Facebook, I'm giving in. The back rows don't look to bad after all, and I will try the very back one. It looks good going up the lift hill. Surely you must get that slowness as it comes off the lift hill, and you get that drag at the back through the dive drop? The billboard, hmm...looks alright, better than what I imagined. And it looks like my suspicions have been confirmed - nothing changed whatsoever in the station queueline towards the back (well the pictures don't show it anyway).
  19. The original graphics and other elements of the Burp days were much better and well-thought through compared to the computerised ones of today. Many people grew up with him, but I have seen more kids come off it excited since it was changed.

What do people here think of Justin Timberlake's return after all these years? I was a little surprised to hear about it first, but I'm glad to see he's back. The Shirt & Tie track is good, but a classic Timberlake-type song from yesteryear, takes me back to the Cry Me A River chart days. Would be good to see him try something new.
  21. You've done it then. Today or yesterday?
  22. The earliest I recall riding Bubbleworks was mid-2000. I'm did visit Chessington in the 1990's, my only memories are the old Chessington mascots, the clown coaster, the railway through Market Square, and Skyway, which seemed twice as long back then.
  23. I do understand children, and as I said the Where Families Come First is in the past. I never said children's park, family-orientated. Of course they'll never get the thrill market back, that's exactly what they're trying to get away from.
  24. I'm not arguing, just saying where I've seen the ADIPS's.
