  1. I would have said 2020 when it is no longer viable to continue use of Galactica in the way they intend to use it this year. Its a gimmick that will quickly show its age. The animation looks of very poor quality and the technology is going to age incredibly fast. Will cost a lot to run and a lot to maintain.
  2. I was referring to when 2 stations are in use. If one station is delayed the other one doesn't need to go as fast as the time before they can dispatch is longer. Think of it as a train has to leave within a time from the previous train leaving. Not the time from when the train arrived back in the station. While the overall time is the same the individual time is not. So to achieve a good throughput all you have to do is a really fast first train and a good time for trains 2 and 3.
  3. Air actually has an issue of dispatching too soon (according to ride ops ive spoken to). Over the course of the day the stations become out of sync because one station is normally too fast (could also be seen as one was delayed). I'm sure you have all been on it where it slows down on the lift hill or even stops. Cleaning each headset will clearly reduce the throughput but out of all the rides to choose from they chose the best one. Its not hard to get an air train ready to dispatch in time during normal operation so hopefully on a good day the throughput wont be effected too much.
  4. It's way better than any restaurant Merlin has to offer. Volcano bay is a water park. Capacity isn't exactly a necessity. Finally by no means is kong cheap. The rock work distracts you from the Forrest anyway.
  5. Well you won't be pleased to hear Derren Brown's ghost train is using the chucklevision theme.
  6. The paint on the rails has lasted far longer than the smiler. That paint was gone after half a day.
  7. The original plan was that if a train had a problem the 3rd train could be used so 2 train operation was always possible. However when Merlin took over this was no longer the case and they made it so one was always in strip down while the other 2 were useable so over the winter they wouldn't have to strip 3 trains.
  8. They won't have 3 trains built up. One is always in strip down to ease the maintenance load on the engineers.

Honestly I would prefer no Rita but that is not my point. Health and safety have not said you need scaffolding under the walk way on the basis that H&S do not care how you fix the issue just as long as its fixed in a safe way. Scaffolding will have been the cheapest solution, not the best.

I seem to have made my mind up on Ritas work too quickly. Now I have found out they didn't even remove the scaffolding, they have just tried and cover it up, my opinion of the work has gone even lower. All they would have needed was a little bit more money and they could have had a nice looking solution. Instead we have a wooden fence with some vines and some tacky signs on it. However what makes me even more annoyed is that people seem to be happy and content with it.
  11. They have a nice looking run down warehouse which looks far better than what I thought it would and then the floor in front of it looks a complete mess.
  12. The 360 animation will have cost a lot. All animation costs a lot because of the amount of work that goes into it.

Just as expected. It still looks dreadful.
  14. No coaster builder. Just the modular building for the generic and pirate set. Along with paths and possibly some flat rides. They aim to update it often so the alpha will keep getting better until it's release (Some time September-December).
  15. The detail going into the flat rides is very impressive. The screamin' swing is just wonderful. Also the hints at how RCTW's screamin' swing is terrible compared to there's I found amusing.
  16. I would be surprised if there is not a limit on what days you can choose to go on.

While a vast improvement on what was there before it still looks horrible in every single way.
  18. The are likely to be very similar to Elite: Dangerous requirements. Its running on the same engine. They are going to use the alpha to find out what the minimum requirements are for the game so at the time being they don't have that kind of data. Apparently it scales well but at the moment we haven't seen any game footage so how it runs could be anyone's guess. So far its all been pre-rendered.
  19. I have gone and bought the early bird edition so I can have access to the Alpha where I will be doing videos on it. While it was very expensive all I can currently think about is this game so I feel I will get my use out of it. The fact that on release this will have up to 20,000 people in a park is incredible. The alpha has about 40 rides and coasters at the moment in time with more to come. Also the developers talking about having dark rides there is very little this game doesn't have.
  20. With more information being released and the alpha being released before the end of the month I thought I would breath some new life into this thread. Currently planet coaster is doing an hour live stream every Wednesday. Not sure how long this is going to last for. The last one was with the lead art director where it showed some pre-alpha footage including an air race and a B&M floorless. Defiantly worth watching if you are interested in the game. The next one on Wednesday 9th at 7pm is about the rides in the game and will hopefully show off the coaster builder. Its with the lead person on rides who is a massive nemesis fan so I expect great things.
  21. The second half seems like a slow boring mess. It just looses all its speed so quickly.
  22. If there are going to be around 200 people in the building at one time then that means there is going to be 3 trains or perhaps even just 2 if the preshow (presuming there is one) is included in that figure.
  23. VR just like any ground breaking tec in the computing world will age horrifically. Moores law stating that processing power will double every 2 years. The resolution of screens doubling every 3-6 years. These are the first headsets available and while best on the market now they wont be for very long. Over the years they will show there age. To keep this ride up to date is going to need a lot of investment. Its not the case of buying 180 new headsets every couple of years but also updating the animation every few years as well so its compatible. Screen based rides don't have this issue as much as its just a projector on a big screen where the resolution isn't critical as its far away. On VR its a few cm's away where you will notice low quality images, the high latency in movement ect. To have a ride which seems to depend on a brand new technology (in the computing world) is risky to say the least.
  24. The gaming crowd are really not hyped enough to go to Thorpe just to try out the vive. A few will but the majority will not travel and pay to get in then wait 1-3 hours to experience a few minutes of a headset. This will draw crowds on the entire appeal of its new and big with Derrens name slapped on the side. The struggle this ride will have in drawing the crowds is that it is not a coaster. It's Thorpe's job to convince the public it's worth while.
