  1. There is no solution to long queues. The way to solve it is to make queues fun and entertaining so people feel like they are not in a queue. All the money they continue to spend on RnR is a waste. The idea should never have left the room it was created in. Regardless of if it is a trial or not the idea is flawed and the idea should have been killed right after someone worked out the maths of the people behind it.

  2. I wouldn't call it brave I would call it stupidity. What moron trials a system which is notorious for going wrong and not have a back up plan when it does go spectacularly wrong. You would have been very hard pressed to find a person on that day which had an all round positive experience. What's worse is the system was designed for exactly that day. To deal with large numbers and solve the queues and it did the exact opposite. You can blame it on technical faults and poor judgement all you like but at the end of the day it went wrong because the idea is just flawed. They should have let RnR die there before it causes any more damage.

  3. Now that's just downright underhand, and they claim that they don't inflate the queue time boards to sell Fastrack?  Completely dishonest way of making stealing money from people.

Happens all the time at swarm. Often I go over to it to see it saying 45 minutes when its walk on. Will stay like that for an hour then the person selling fastrack leaves and after that its shortly followed by the queue time saying 10 minutes.

  4. It works out that if everyone is a group of 4 and it assumes 80% of people have a phone are equally distributed then on a day of 15,000 6 groups would have no phone. In reality there would be more than 6 groups as the people with a phone that works with RnR is much lower than 80% but yes it is a very small number.

  5. Its not a case of you need a phone its a case of you need a fairly new smart phone. The website has a load of scripting errors (presumably they will fix that) but it results in anyone with an old phone cant use the system either.

The fright night trial should have been perfect for the system. It had effectively 5 extra flat rides and the system was being used where it was designed to be used. It was perfect conditions for RnR and it failed spectacularly. There was not one aspect of the system you could have called successful on those days. It did get good reviews because when using RnR it seemed amazing they only had to wait 1 hour physically and 5 hours virtually compared to the alternative of the 4 hour physical queue. I am sure there would have been many people on park who were unaware that the reason it was a 4 hour physical queue was because of RnR.

According to twitter the fastrack queue will be a different queue to the RnR and the Main Queue.

  6. Who honestly believes that Thorpe can create a queue-less park. If you believe that the park could get it so you never wait more than 15 minutes then you seriously need to reconsider your logic.

Another thing which is annoying me is how anyone could think this system could work without a physical queue. How on earth can you have 15,000 people divided up across the flat rides. Which if Thorpe do what they originally intended have 15,000 people divided up across just the shops and the odd flat that doesn't have it. RnR will see the park take a massive turn for the worse.

  7. I think its pretty safe to say a majority of you know my opinion on the shambles that is RnR, ill try not to bore you with all the details again. I'm just amazed that after 5 hour virtual waits and 2 hour physical queues with the system last time they even considered running it again. It was their most complained about day on social media by far and there was a massive backlog in guest services replying to emails. They are truly mental. I don't want to see the system fail, it already has failed. Every single thing about it is a complete failure as the whole concept doesn't even work. Which was demonstrated last time. The only people who like the system are the ones who abused it by using it first and making the people who didn't use it suffer. Its broken, no matter how much money they spend on it, it will not work. To make things even worse the people with out smart phones which do exist although Thorpe may seem to think otherwise now no longer have a system they can use. Something of which I was assured back when the system first started they would keep.

  8. 21 isn't exactly a significant milestone. 20 I can understand or 25 but 21 not so much. Then when you look at their other rides. They have far more years to their name. I doubt that the nemesis21 merchandise makes that much more than it would with out the 21.

  9. They wont evac a ride until they know how serious the problem is which often means the engineers will have to turn up first. There are exceptions to that of course, when swarm sheered a bolt they evacuated the queue pretty quickly.

  10. Chains on a lift hill are pretty strong. It would take some serious neglect from the engineers for one to snap, its pretty rare for one to break.  Its also unlikely for a ride to be evacuated because someone made a mess. Often they just stop operation for a short while.

  11. This is what I don't get with merlin. Other parks around the world help out the locals by up keeping roads, investing money to encourage jobs ect. In return they can build bigger and better attractions. Whereas what merlin seem to do is almost nothing and as a result they have to follow a crazy amount of restrictions.

Disney has its own motorway. Cedar point own 4 lane road and invests huge amounts to Sandusky.

Alton, cwoa, legoland single lane road causing massive congestion and annoying the local residents.

  12. Its always hard to know what is wrong with a ride. Its likely to be a technical fault (could be mechanical but they are far less common) with the swarm and they don't want people going right up to the entrance to walk back again. Also its easier when there aren't 1000 people getting in the engineers way. Its a pretty standard thing they do.

  13. Thorpe do have some pretty shocking operations. They did have 2 months where 3 main flats were broken and 2 coasters on low capacity, not helped by the constant excuses for 1 train operation. Over the weekend stealth and swarm opened on one train despite it being a bank holiday so god knows what caused that. That being said thorpe do have rides that can cope (just) with the crowds they have. Whereas cwoa does not. The lack of new attractions over the last 15 years and the ever increasing gate figures is taking its toll on guest experince. 80 minutes for the dodgems is just a joke. What park would ever allow some dodgems to 80 minutes and what human with half a brain would ever join a queue for some dodgems at 80 minutes. Theme parks are known for bad queues but when you are reaching 2 hour queues for some pretty bad rides things need to be done. I'm aware it is hard for them to get planning permission for anything but really that should just mean merlin has to argue a better case.

  14. If it was testing today or not is not a justification. The park has been open for 2 months and it still hasn't opened and its not even a rare occasion. Its done it every year since they got it. Unless I'm mistaken I don't think its managed a full year of operation without 2 consecutive weeks of downtime.

  15. It may be a nice ride but getting it fixed just seems pointless to me. The same thing happens every year and I'm stunned they still put time and money into it.

  16. I think that it may just be a dressed up afternoon ticket. There is going to be a lot more people at these summer nights and if its from 4pm with main guests still in the park I would assume that its just an afternoon ticket.

Things that work well are simple. This is just confusing and all over the place. I just don't see this going down as well as summer nights once did. Something has changed as they have lowered the price for premium. Does that mean they feel its not as highly valued as last year?
