Ian-S reacted to Matt 236 in Alton Towers General Discussion
I hope not as I am planning that to be the first ride of the season, followed by a go on Hex and the flume followed by an underwhelming trip to a cardboard factory.

Nothing says "trying to capture the lost family market" quite like a scare maze eh?
Welcome to Thorpe Park: A bleak island like no other.........

Is it just me who thinks that once you've paid for entry into a theme park, all rides and attractions should be included?
Yes? Okay.

What on earth are they doing this for. My only thought can be is that they have made it Derren Brown themed.
If it's meant to be an all year round scare attraction then they are the stupidest company in the theme/amusement park industry. How can a company "taking on Disney" make the same mistake over and over again. How much money do you have to waste on the same idea before they get it doesn't work.

Have they gone completely mad?! Another low-throughput attraction using actors? Why?

Next up they'll be painting the animals! It's great, but to be fair Buddha isn't, or shouldn't, exactly be the prime target. Like, the whole of Land of the Dragons needs it A HELL of a lot more.

Of all the things that needed sorted, a repaint of Buddha was actually relatively low on my list. It just seemed alright as it was, and the ageing it had worked well. Did I just miss its desperate need for paint, or?
Hopefully if they're sorting out the looks of stuff which I thought was a low priority, then they'll also be sorting out the looks of stuff which I thought were in actual need of it too...

Ian-S reacted to TraX in Chessington General Discussion
its difficult not giving a sarcastic comment on the nice shiny pins against the harsh reality (Chessington's management) that every season chip away at the fading park.
So I won't. The pins look awesome.

I'm straight, not much more really.
Personally, I don't care whether you are gay or not, as long as your happy, you're still a person.

Just a causal observation but my nephew ended up in a cell overnight, with a later criminal conviction and community service order, for simply telling someone online to 'go drown yourself in the lake', to say the one flippent comment has ruined his life, is an understatement.
Back in the good old day when we paid per letter for text and waiting 20 minutes for an image to load on a website, there were a few unofficial rules for online conduct:
Pink text to indicate sarcasm or humour,
Never say anything online that you wouldn't say to the person if they were standing in front of you.
It seems a lot of people should be made aware of these old school rules, it might save an awful lot of trouble.

I don't expect to change his opinion of my posts (frankly I'm not that fussed), but there are better ways of disagreeing with people than telling them to "go drown in the Thorpe lake," or "I hope the big one burns with you on it."Having those comments (amongst many others) hurled at me over a theme park ride is what has riled me up.

If he actually acknowledged that he was in the wrong and said that for himself then I would be more inclined to let it drop. When you behave like that, "don't bother contacting me again" doesn't quite solve it IMO.He seems to think he can dictate to me when and where I can or can't post, and what I'm allowed to post (nothing remotely negative about the new ride so it seems).

Ian-S reacted to Coaster in Rant
I have suggested that he uses the ignore button which would prevent him from seeing my posts, but it would seem that he is incapable of finding itIf you get that worked up over reading anything negative about Thorpe then I think you have a problem, it's only a theme park at the end of the day.

I think there is little point of me remaining a member of this fanbase when I'm not even allowed to voice my own opinions without having a verbal attack launched at me.
To be honest I'm fed up of the blind fanboyism displayed by a minority on here, it either seems to be a case of telling me to "shut up" or bringing up other parks, almost in a desperate attempt to prove that Thorpe is better?
People have different opinions on things, I don't go and launch an attack on everyone who defends things Thorpe do that I disagree with, so why should I (and others) have to put up with a ton of rubbish for daring to have an opinion that someone else doesn't agree with?

Whenever I read live actors I can't help but roll my eyes. Because they've worked so well in the past

Don't get me wrong it is good they have actually spent some money. I'm sure everyone agrees this new attraction is welcomed. The issue lies with its not what people expected/wanted. We do know very little about it and have done so through out the whole construction process.
The negative people (me included) have seen what Merlin have done before and right now I believe they are going to repeat it. Unoriginal name, run down warehouse, live actors, pointless IP. They may have finally perfected it however there is still this massive concern it will be like the others.

If it's genuine then maybe someone made a 'mistake' with the embargo date....
